Definitions
- the present invention relates to the field of communications technologies, and in particular, to a message sending/receiving method, a coverage enhancement level determining/acquiring method, and related devices.
- MTC Machine Type Communication
- UE User Equipment
- coverage enhancement For example, for an MTC device, that is, a User Equipment (UE) in a scenario where the path loss is large, such as a basement, it is necessary to provide coverage enhancement support, so that the device can access the mobile communication network and obtain a service.
- Techniques for implementing coverage enhancement include, but are not limited to, repeated transmission, PSD boosting (Power spectral density boosting), and the like.
- the coverage enhancement requirements corresponding to different environments of the UE are also different.
- the coverage enhancement requirement refers to the degree of coverage enhancement support required by the user equipment in the process of communicating with the base station, so that the user equipment can access the network to obtain services.
- the coverage enhancement requirement can be covered by the enhancement level and the coverage enhancement level.
- the index, the number of repeated transmissions, the number of repeated transmission indexes, the coverage enhancement method, and one or more of the coverage enhancement method indexes are expressed.
- the coverage enhancement requirement representation method is not limited to this, and may be based on actual conditions. Indication of other parameters to meet the needs of the actual situation, will not repeat them here.
- the coverage enhancement level is defined according to the coverage enhancement requirement size, the coverage environment enhancement level corresponding to the different environments of the UE is different.
- the coverage enhancement is implemented by using repeated transmissions, and the number of repeated transmissions corresponding to the UE is different under different coverage enhancement levels.
- how to send a paging message is a problem that needs to be solved. For example, if the coverage enhancement is implemented by using the signal repetition technology, if the base station does not know the coverage enhancement level of the UE paging message, the number of times the UE paging message needs to be repeatedly transmitted in order to ensure that the UE can correctly receive the paging message cannot be known.
- the base station does not distinguish the coverage enhancement level of the paging message, and transmits the paging message using the maximum coverage enhancement level supported by the base station (or mobile communication system).
- the UE may receive the paging message using the coverage enhancement level of the paging message corresponding to the actual coverage enhancement requirement, or may receive the paging message using the maximum coverage enhancement level supported by the base station (or mobile communication system).
- the disadvantage is that when the coverage enhancement level of the paging message is low, the base station still sends the paging message according to the supported maximum coverage enhancement level, which may cause waste of resources. Taking signal repetition as an example, repeated transmission of the maximum coverage enhancement level beyond the coverage enhancement level of the paging message is redundant.
- the base station saves the coverage enhancement level of the paging message, or the base station saves the coverage enhancement level of the UE corresponding to the paging message, and determines the coverage enhancement level of the paging message corresponding to the UE according to the coverage enhancement level of the UE.
- the base station updates the paging message or the coverage enhancement level of the UE corresponding to the paging message is the changed coverage enhancement level.
- the UE corresponding to the paging message or the paging message corresponding to the UE means that the object of the paging message paging includes at least the UE.
- the base station does not save the context information of the UE entering the idle state (Idle), and the solution requires the base station to save the context information of the UE in the idle state, and the modification to the mobile communication system is large, and the cost is large.
- the environment of the UE in the idle state changes, the coverage enhancement level of the UE, or the coverage enhancement level corresponding to the paging message of the UE also changes, the UE needs to inform the base station of the changed coverage enhancement.
- the level is to ensure that the relevant coverage enhancement level saved by the base station is effective, which brings about the consumption of the UE power. It is an important requirement to reduce the power consumption of the UE in the MTC application.
- the Mobility Management Entity saves the coverage enhancement level of the paging message, or the coverage enhancement level of the UE corresponding to the paging message, and determines the coverage enhancement of the paging message corresponding to the UE according to the coverage enhancement level of the UE. grade.
- the MME is transmitting to the base station In the paging message of the UE, the coverage enhancement level corresponding to the paging message of the UE or the coverage enhancement level of the UE is carried.
- the base station acquires the coverage enhancement level of the UE from the MME
- the coverage enhancement level of the paging message of the UE is determined according to the coverage enhancement level of the UE.
- the MME updates the corresponding coverage enhancement level to the changed coverage enhancement level.
- the disadvantage is that if the environment of the UE in the idle state changes, the coverage enhancement level of the UE, or the coverage enhancement level of the paging message corresponding to the UE also changes, the UE needs to inform the MME of the changed coverage enhancement level. In order to ensure that the corresponding coverage enhancement level saved by the MME is effective, this will bring about consumption of the UE power, and reducing the power consumption of the UE in the MTC application is an important requirement.
- the embodiment of the invention provides a message sending/receiving method, a coverage enhancement level determining/acquisition method and a related device, which can reduce resource waste without causing additional power consumption when the coverage enhancement level of the UE changes. .

- the first network device determines the number of attempts to send and adjusts the coverage enhancement level of the paging message, and notifies the coverage enhancement level of the adjusted paging message to the second network device by using a paging message, as shown in the figure.
- the detailed process of sending a paging message by the first network device is as follows:
- Step 201 The number of attempts to send a paging message by the first network device.
- the number of attempts to send is the number of times the paging message is sent, and each time the paging message is sent, it is an attempted transmission.
- the first network device counts the number of times the paging message is sent to obtain the number of attempts to send.
- the first network device sends a paging message for the same paging requirement, and counts the number of times the paging message is sent to obtain the number of attempts to send.
- the attempted transmission times refers to increasing the number of times the paging message is sent.
- the paging message is enhanced according to the coverage enhancement level of the paging message, and the repeated transmission is performed according to the repeated transmission times of the paging message required by the coverage enhancement level of the paging message.
- Paging message For example, if a paging message needs to be sent 5 times repeatedly to meet the need for paging message coverage enhancement, then 5 repeated transmissions of the paging message are sent as one attempt, and another 5 times are repeated as another attempt to transmit.
- Step 202 The first network device adjusts the coverage enhancement level of the paging message according to the number of attempts to send and the preset threshold.

It is also possible not to adjust the coverage enhancement level of the paging message. Of course, in this case, adjusting the coverage enhancement level of the paging message in the direction that the coverage enhancement requirement becomes smaller can further save network resources and UE power consumption.

- the coverage enhancement level of the entire paging message is increased to an adjacent coverage enhancement level, and the coverage enhancement requirement of the adjacent coverage enhancement level is greater than the coverage enhancement requirement of the coverage enhancement level of the paging message saved by the first network device.
- the preset threshold defines a condition for the coverage enhancement level adjustment of the paging message.
- the preset threshold may be a fixed value, and the coverage threshold enhancement level of different paging messages uses the same preset threshold to determine whether the coverage enhancement level of the paging message needs to be adjusted.
- the preset threshold is 5, and the coverage enhancement level CE1 is adjusted when the paging message is sent from the CE1 to 5 times.
