Description
MECHANISM WITH A CHAIN FOR PREVENTING THEFT OF
STREET DRAIN COVER
Technical field
The invention belongs to the field of sewage components.
According to the International Classification of Patents the invention is denoted by the basic classification symbols: E03F5/06 (2006.01) which include the street drain cover and E02D29/14 (2006.01 ) which include the covers for manholes for maintenance, etc.
Technical problem
The technology problem is how to solve by design the problem of theft of street drain covers that have no hinges, without reducing the water flow capacity through the drain and without hindering the placement of the vacuum pipe for cleaning the drain sewage.
State of the art
In to-date solutions for preventing the theft of street drain covers they were functional only if the cover was fitted with hinges. Since a very small percentage of covers has hinges, stealing of covers is very frequent.
Various design solutions for securing the covers of sewage drains, water mains holes and other holes or manholes of underground installations have been generally known, but feature mainly complicated designs or do not provide complete security. In the patent recordEP 0391825 B is described an opening in the pavement, whose cover locks in the frame of the opening fitted with a frame in which there is an insert that is mobile within the closed and open positions enabled by the hinge. The insert can be locked in the open position by moving vertically down with respect to the frame. In this position, at the level of the hinge, two blocking surfaces, vertically to the insert and the frame, are positioned one to the other and prevent improper closure of the insert. In order to ulock the insert before closure into the frame, the insert must be lifed, so that two corresponding blocking surfaces are not in contact with one another. As the insert is massive, a considerable effort is needed for lifting, and takes up considerable time. In the patent record RS 50221 B of company SAINT-GOBAIN PAM, FR the problem of closing the hole is solved by a cover that locks. The cover is movable within the frame by means of one of the two hinges which contains one joint of the cover and one joint of the frame, where in the second hinge there is a device for locking, which is adapted for locking and unlocking of the cover in the open position with relative movement of its joint into its corresponding joint in the frame, following one direction radially with the axis of the first hinge. The same company in patent RS 49950 B solves a similar problem,
but with locks that are inserted into each other. Both designs are elaborate and expensive, in patent RS 49985 B, by the same company, a cover is fitted with one lock with a latch and flat tip positioned against sloping surfaces, which enables latching the cover to the frame of the opening. Latching is carried out by a hand tool. The latch does not ensure efficient security against theft, and the design is not simple.
A known patent P-2010/0572, "Safety lock that is fitted onto street drain covers, sewage and water mains manholes and covers of other underground installations, for prevention of theft".
The lock design has several embodiments, so that it can be fitted and fixed onto the drain cover, onto existing covers, and that the lock housing is cast integrally with the cover.
The solution with fitting the safety lock in a part of the opening over which a drain cover is placed consists of the assembly of an upper and a lower steel plate that are connected by a screw, so that it can be fitted onto any cover, depending on the thickness of the cover grid. In the upper plate is made an opening for the transit of the key. In the lower plate is made an opening for the placement of the lock that has a turning hook, which enters the drain wall during locking, an opening for the transit of the screw and openings for draining the sludge which possibly passes through the keyhole. In the keyhole is placed a special key that locks or unlocks the lock. The key is made in several variants.
The lock that is fitted onto existing covers, which may be of square or oval shapes, depending on the purpose, consists of a housing that is fixed to the lower part of the cover by screws. The housing is partly divided with two angled dividers, with outlets, made in the interior, forming a hole in the form of swallowtail through which the user inserts the key, at the same time obtaining two unequal spaces by dividers. The key is inserted through the larger keyhole into a smaller compartment, so that it is longitudinally moved, passing through the swallotail opening to a larger space in which a compartment for the lock is made, with a turning hook, which is turned by the key entering the wall of the cover, by which action the cover is locked. In another case the housing of the latch is cast integrally with the cover, and the design and function remains the same as described.
In a further embodiment the solution may be with or without the housing. In the application a solution without the housing is presented, with a built-in lock and hook that is welded onto the grid of the cover, and with a passage made for the key.
The key is of special design and consists of the body, with a holder, and a hollow konical head with a hexagonal base or another form of base. On two konical sides of the head are made two grooves across, for the passing of the key through a swallowtail hole into a space in which there is a lock with a turning hook. The key is made in several variants. It is made of alloy steel featuring high ductility and hardness.
The above described solutions have fairly complicated design and require considerable costs. In order to overcome these shortcomings, a solution is proposed here which is by design considerably simpler and cheaper, and its effectivenes sound.
Description of the essence of the invention
The essence of the invention of the mechanism is in allowing for the simplest and quickest way to close the street drain cover and secure it so that the cover can not be stolen, and at the same time not reduce the capacity of water flow through the cover, and not hinder the placement of the vaccum hose for cleaning of the drain. This mechanism eliminates the need for hinges, as the cover secured by this mechanism acts like the hinges are present, it can be lifted, but not taken away.
The mechanism consists of a chain made of spring steel, i.e. of quality that can not be cut by reinforcement bar cutters.
Onto a chain, at one end, a metal plate is welded, which is fixed to the coveer by steel pins. At the other end of the chain another metal plate is welded, which is fixed to the wall of the drain by a screw that is screwed into a capsule mounted in the wall. The pin and the screw are welded to the plates, to prevent dismounting of the mechanism.
Brief description of figures
The invention is comprehensively describet through an example of an embodiment, and presented in drawing in which:
- Figure 1 , shows the mechanism with a chain for prevention of theft of the street drain cover, containing a longitudinal section of the cover and the drain wall;
- Figure 2, shows view P of Figure 1 ;
- Figure 3, shows view Q of Figurel .
Detailed description of the invention
The mechanism with a chain for prevention of theft of street drain cover, includes a chain 3 which is made of spring steel that can not be cut by reinforcement bar cutters. At one end of the steel chain 3 is by welding 3.1 fixed a metal plate 4. The metal plate 4 is fixed to the cover 1 of the drain by hammering pins 5 into the cover 1 of the drain through openings on the metal plate 4. The cover 1 is placed on a metal frame 9 of the drain. Steel pins 5 are then fixed by welding 5.1 to the metal plate 4.
At the other end of the steel chain 3 by welding 3.2 is fixed a metal plate 7. Into the bore in the wall 2 of the drain is placed a split metal capsule 6 with a thread made inside the metal capsu le 6. After this, through the opening of the metal plate 7 is threaded a screw 8 into the thread of the split metal capsule 6, and in that way the plate 7 is fixed to the wall 2 of the drain. Screw 8 is by welding 8.1 fixed to the metal plate 7.
By this is acomplished the task that the water flow through the cover 1 is maintained the same and that cleaning of the drain sewage, by placing the vacuum tube, is carried out unhindered.
A possibility exists of mounting one or two mechanisms per cover 1 of the drain.
