- the display device 8 and the input device 9 may be integrated and realized as a touch panel.
- the hardware configuration of the user terminal 6
- FIG. 3 is a diagram conceptually illustrating a processing configuration example of the data arrangement device 1 in the first embodiment.
- the data arrangement device 1 includes a file moving unit 31, an arrangement control unit 32, a storage processing unit 33, a management table 34, a receiving unit 35, a reading unit 36, a recovery unit 37, and the like.
- Each processing module is realized, for example, by executing a program stored in the memory 3 by the CPU 2.
- the program is installed via a communication unit 4 from a portable recording medium such as a CD (Compact Disc) or a memory card or another device connected to the communication network 5, and stored in the memory 3. May be.
- a portable recording medium such as a CD (Compact Disc) or a memory card or another device connected to the communication network 5, and stored in the memory 3. May be.
- the file moving unit 31 moves the data file stored in the primary storage device 10 to another storage device. Specifically, the file moving unit 31 moves the data file stored in the primary storage device 10 to the secondary storage device 15, and further moves the data file moved to the secondary storage device 15 to the tertiary storage device 20. Thus, before moving the data file to the nearline storage device (tertiary storage device 20), the file moving unit 31 transfers the data file to a specific storage device (secondary storage device 15) of a different type from the nearline storage device. Move.
- the file mover 31 When moving the data file from the secondary storage device 15 to the tertiary storage device 20, the file mover 31 stores a copy of the data file in the tertiary storage device 20, and after the storage is completed, the secondary storage device It is desirable to delete the original data file on 15. As a result, it is possible to prevent the data file from being inaccessible while the data file is stored in the tertiary storage device 20.
- the file moving unit 31 may check the usage rate of the primary storage device 10 as a condition for moving the data file from the primary storage device 10 to another storage device. Specifically, when the usage rate of the primary storage device 10 is lower than a predetermined threshold, the file moving unit 31 does not move the data file, and when the usage rate exceeds the predetermined threshold, Move. As a result, the primary storage device 10 can be used by the user to the maximum and the high speed of the primary storage device 10 can be enjoyed to the maximum. Instead of the usage rate, the usage amount itself may be used.
- the predetermined threshold may be determined to be a value that takes into account the capacity of the primary storage device 10.
- the file migration unit 31 selects a data file to be migrated to the secondary storage device 15 from among a plurality of data files stored in the primary storage device 10 depending on whether the access period and the file size satisfy predetermined conditions. To do. Specifically, the file moving unit 31 selects a data file that is equal to or larger than a predetermined upper limit size or smaller than a predetermined lower limit size and has not been updated or referenced for a predetermined period as a movement target. This is because a data file having a low access frequency is stored in a storage apparatus with a low processing speed and takes time to access, but the influence on the convenience for the user is small in total.
- the predetermined upper limit size is set to a value that is considered to have a small influence on the storage capacity of the primary storage device 10.
- the predetermined lower limit size is set to a value that is considered to be difficult to use because of a small amount of information.
- the predetermined condition for selecting the data file to be moved is appropriately determined depending on the configuration of the archive system, the usage environment, and the like.
- the file moving unit 31 Before moving the data file stored in the secondary storage device 15 to the tertiary storage device 20, the file moving unit 31 confirms the existence of a link file on the primary storage device 10 corresponding to the data file.
- This confirmation can be realized, for example, by searching for a link file that includes a part of the file name of the data file.
- the confirmation can also be realized by searching for a link file containing the file information of the data file or the destination information (storage location).
- the user can delete unnecessary data files by operating the user terminal 6.
- the unnecessary data file is stored in the primary storage apparatus 10
- the data file itself is deleted by a user operation.
- a link file of the data file is stored in a folder (also referred to as a directory) in which the data file is stored on the primary storage apparatus 10. Is left behind.
- the user deletes the link file corresponding to the data file. Therefore, a data file that is stored in a storage device other than the primary storage device 10 and does not have a corresponding link file in the primary storage device 10 is a file in which the user indicates the intention to delete.
- the file moving unit 31 cancels the movement of a data file that does not have a corresponding link file, that is, an orphan file.
- the file moving unit 31 may delete the data file determined to be an orphan file from the secondary storage device 15.
- the arrangement control unit 32 generates or updates a link file of the moved data file stored in the primary storage device 10 when the file moving unit 31 moves the data file between the storage devices. Specifically, when the data file is moved from the primary storage device 10 to the secondary storage device 15, the arrangement control unit 32 stores the data file in the folder in which the data file is stored on the primary storage device 10. Generate a link file.
- the link file includes the storage location information of the data file, not the data file itself.
- the storage location information is information indicating the path to the data file including the file name. In this case, the storage location information includes information indicating the storage location of the data file in the secondary storage device 15.
- the link file can also be called a shortcut file or a symbolic link file.
- the arrangement control unit 32 applies the agent application on the user terminal 6 to the link file stored in the primary storage device 10 of the data file. Associate trigger information to be activated.
- the arrangement control unit 32 includes the identification information of the tape cartridge 22 that is the storage location of the data file in the tertiary storage device 20 in the link file.
- the placement control unit 32 associates the trigger information with the link file on the primary storage device 10 when the type of the storage device at the migration destination is the nearline storage device, and the migration destination with the link file. Destination information indicating the storage location of the storage device is included.
- agent application activation only means that the agent application program is loaded into the main memory and a process (including the execution image of the program and CPU information) is newly generated. It also includes causing the already generated process of the agent application to start processing.
- the specific method of associating trigger information with a link file is not limited.
- the arrangement control unit 32 adds a predetermined extension (.tap, .gap, etc.) to the link file. If an agent application is associated with the predetermined extension in the user terminal 6, the user terminal 6 can activate the agent application by operating the link file. Further, when the information of the application to be executed (execution file path or the like) can be set in the link file, the arrangement control unit 32 can also set the path of the execution file of the agent application in the link file. The agent application will be described later.
- the arrangement control unit 32 updates the link file on the primary storage device of the data file so that it is displayed with an icon image corresponding to the nearline storage device. Also good. For example, when an icon image corresponding to the magnetic tape library apparatus is associated with the agent application, the arrangement control unit 32 adds a predetermined extension to the link file as described above. In addition, when the icon image can be associated with each link file, the arrangement control unit 32 may associate the icon image corresponding to the magnetic tape library device with the link file. As a result, since the link file is displayed as the icon image on the user terminal 6, the user sees the icon image and the data file is moved to the tertiary storage device 20 that takes time to access. Can be recognized.
- the storage processing unit 33 stores the identification information of the storage medium and the file information of each data file written on the storage medium in the management table 34 in a state of being associated with each other. Specifically, when the data file is moved to the tertiary storage device 20 by the file moving unit 31, the storage processing unit 33 identifies the file information of the data file and the tape cartridge 22 in which the data file is stored. The information is stored in the management table 34 while being associated with the information. The storage processing unit 33 may also store information indicating the file position on the magnetic tape of the tape cartridge 22 in association with the file information or the like.
- the storage processing unit 33 can generate screen data for displaying a list of information stored in the management table 34 on an administrator terminal (not shown), and can transmit the screen data to the administrator terminal. .
- the storage processing unit 33 can display a management screen for displaying a list of stored data files for each tape cartridge 22 on the administrator terminal.
- the storage processing unit 33 in response to a query from the administrator terminal, associates the file information of the data file that matches the query condition with the identification information of the tape cartridge 22 in which the data file is stored. Can be displayed on the administrator terminal. Thereby, it is possible to cope with a case where it is desired to access a plurality of data files stored in the tertiary storage device 20 at a time.
- the receiving unit 35 receives destination information and file information transmitted from the user terminal 6 when the agent application is executed.
- the agent application is executed when the link file is operated, and when the user requests to reference the data file stored in the tertiary storage device 20.
- the destination information and file information received by the receiving unit 35 are information on the data file that the user requests to reference.
- the reading unit 36 reads the data file indicated by the file information received by the receiving unit 35 from the storage location of the tertiary storage device 20 indicated by the destination information received by the receiving unit 35. Since the tertiary storage device 20 is a near-line storage device, the reading unit 36 reads the data file from the tape cartridge 22 indicated by the destination information.
- the reading unit 36 When a read request for a designated data file is received by a user operation on the management screen described above, the reading unit 36 reads the designated data file based on information stored in the management table 34. You can also The read data file is transmitted to the above-described administrator terminal, for example.
- the recovery unit 37 places the data file read by the reading unit 36 in the folder where the corresponding link file exists on the primary storage device 10, and deletes the link file. That is, the recovery unit 37 returns the data file that has been transferred to the tertiary storage device 20 to the primary storage device 10.
- FIG. 4 is a diagram conceptually illustrating a processing configuration example of the user terminal 6 that accesses the primary storage device 10.
- a program for the agent application 40 is installed in the user terminal 6.
- the program of the agent application 40 is installed via a communication unit 4 from a portable recording medium such as a CD or a memory card or another device, and stored in the memory 3.
- the agent application 40 is realized by the CPU 2 executing a program stored in the memory 3.
- the agent application 40 is activated by a user operation on a link file on the primary storage device 10 that is generated with respect to the data file that has been moved from the primary storage device 10 and stored in the tertiary storage device 20. Specifically, the agent application 40 is activated when a link file associated with the trigger information is operated by the user using the user terminal 6.
- the program of the agent application is loaded into the main memory and a process that is an execution unit of the program is generated by the user operation. If an agent application process has already been generated, the process is started by the user operation.
- the agent application 40 includes an information acquisition process 41 and a transmission process 42.
- the information acquisition process 41 acquires file information and destination information from the operated link file.
- the file information includes information on the data file stored in the tertiary storage device 20, and the migration destination information includes identification information of the tape cartridge 22 in which the data file is stored.
- the transmission process 42 transmits the file information and the movement destination information acquired by the information acquisition process 41 to the data arrangement device 1.
- the transmitted file information and destination information are received by the receiving unit 35 described above.
- the data file corresponding to the operated link file is moved from the tertiary storage device 20 to the primary storage device 10 and is in a referable state.
- the agent application 40 can also display a confirmation message on the display device 8 of the user terminal 6 before executing the transmission process 42 (display process). Since the tertiary storage device 20 is a magnetic tape library device (nearline storage device), it may take time to read the data file. If the GUI (Graphical User Interface) displayed on the display device 8 of the user terminal 6 is fixed during reading, the convenience of the user is reduced. Therefore, the agent application 40 displays a message confirming the execution after indicating that the data file has been moved to the tertiary storage device 20 and that it takes time to move the data file. The agent application 40 executes the transmission process 42 after confirming the execution by the user operation with respect to the confirmation message.
- GUI Graphic User Interface
- the agent application 40 displays a message screen indicating that the process has been accepted, and then ends or enters a standby state.
- a message screen indicating that the process has been accepted
- the user can operate the GUI of the user terminal 6 as if there was nothing.
- the data file recovered from the tertiary storage device 20 in the same folder can be used without the user's knowledge.
- FIG. 5 and FIG. 6 are flowcharts showing an operation example of the data arrangement device 1 and the user terminal 6 in the first embodiment.
- FIG. 7 is a diagram conceptually showing the transition of the arrangement of data files. Each process shown in each figure is performed by each processing module or user terminal 6 which data arrangement device 1 has, for example. Since each process is the same as the processing content of each processing module or the user terminal 6 included in the data placement device 1, details of each process are omitted as appropriate.
- FIG. 5 is a flowchart showing an operation example of the data arrangement device 1 related to the storage of the data file.
