Abstract
The flange joint protection device consists of the top cover (1), with attached removable bottom cover (2) and a filling (5) located between these two covers (1) and (2).
Description
Flange joint protection device
Technical Field
The invention regards a device for protection of flange joints.
Disclosure of Invention
As of today, there is no reliable protection of flange joints. At most, and even this is rare, joints are covered by an asphalt or PE foil. When used under the ground, the flange joint is mostly just buried by soil. In shafts, flange joints are left without any protection. This leads to corrosion of zinc-coated connection screws. Such flange joints are then sources of defects in water distribution networks.
The task of the inventor was to create a flange joint protection device to ensure that the joint is undamaged and to prevent corrosion.
Summary of the Invention
The above specified shortcomings are removed by the flange joint protection device as specified in this invention. The device consists of a top cover with an attached removable bottom cover and a filling located between these two covers.
The most important advantage of this device as described by this invention is the unlimited service life of the protected flange joint.
Brief Description of Drawing
The invention is further explained by drawings. Fig. No. 1 shows disassembled device, where the flange is already embedded in the filling; Fig. No. 2 depicts disassembled device without a filling and Fig. No. 3 represents the assembled device.
Made for Carrying out the Invention
The device as shown in Fig. 1 consists of the bottom cover 2, with a securing element 6 on one side and a hole 7 for attaching the securing element 6 on the other side. Furthermore, the device consists of the top cover j_ which is provided with a hole 4 for air ventilation and for
inspection of the filling. Both covers I and 2 are made of plastic. Polyurethane filling 5 is cast between covers 1 and 2.
The filling is poured in a liquid state into the bottom cover 2, it is inserted under the flange joint, the top cover I is attached and secured by element 6, which is inserted to hole 7. The polyurethane creates a foam and fills the whole space. When both covers 1 and 2 are full, the polyurethane filling starts overflowing from the ventilation hole 4. Both covers j_ and 2 are attached to each other using the securing element 6, which fits to hole 7 designed for securing element 6.
Industrial Applicability
The flange joint protection device in accordance with this invention can be used for protection of flange joints in any area of the national economy. It is especially suitable for protection of flange joints in an aggressive environment.
Claims
1. The flange joint protection device is charaterized by the fact that it consists of the top cover (1), with attached removable bottom cover (2) and a filling (5) located between these two covers (1) and (2).
