터치 패널
본 발명은 터치 패널에 관한 것으로, 보다 상세하게는 터치 패널의 입력 수단이 별도의 전원을 구비하지 않더라도 터치 입력이 가능한 터치 패널에 관한 것이다.
최근 다양한 전자 제품에서 디스플레이 장치에 표시된 화상에 손가락 또는 스타일러스(stylus) 등의 입력 장치를 접촉하는 방식으로 입력을 하는 터치 패널이 적용되고 있다.
터치 패널은 대표적으로 저항막 방식의 터치 패널과 정전 용량 방식의 터치 패널로 구분될 수 있다. 저항막 방식의 터치 패널은 입력 장치에 압력을 가했을 때 전극 간 연결에 따라 저항이 변화하는 것을 감지하여 위치가 검출된다. 정전 용량 방식의 터치 패널은 손가락이 접촉했을 때 전극 사이의 정전 용량이 변화하는 것을 감지하여 위치가 검출된다. 제조 방식의 편의성 및 센싱력 등을 감안하여 소형 모델에 있어서는 최근 정전 용량 방식이 주목받고 있다.

상술한 과제를 해결하기 위한 본 발명의 터치 패널은 유효 영역 및 비유효 영역을 가지는 기판, 상기 기판 상의 유효 영역에 형성되는 감지 전극 및 터치 전극, 상기 기판 상의 비유효 영역에 형성되며, 상기 감지 전극과 연결되는 배선 전극, 상기 기판 상의 비유효 영역에 형성되며, 상기 터치 전극과 연결되는 터치 배선 전극 및 상기 기판 상의 비유효 영역에 형성되는 코일부를 포함한다. 이 때, 상기 감지 전극, 터치 전극, 배선 전극, 터치 배선 전극 및 코일부 중 적어도 어느 하나는 전도성 패턴을 가질 수 있고, 상기 전도성 패턴은 메쉬 선과 메쉬 개구부를 포함한다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에서 상기 기판은 제 1 감지 전극 및 제 1 터치 전극이 형성되는 제 1 기판 및 제 2 감지 전극 및 제 2 터치 전극이 형성되는 제 2 기판을 포함한다. 이 때, 비유효 영역에 더미층이 형성된 커버 기판을 더 포함할 수 있다. 또는 상기 제 1 기판의 비유효 영역에 더미층이 형성되고, 상기 배선 전극 또는 상기 터치 배선 전극은 상기 더미층 상부에 형성될 수 있다. 상기 코일부는 상기 더미층의 하부에 형성되거나 상기 더미층의 상부에서 상기 배선 전극 및 터치 배선 전극과 중첩하지 않도록 형성된다. 다른 실시예에서 상기 기판의 일면에는 제 1 감지 전극 및 제 1 터치 전극이 형성되고, 타면에는 제 2 감지 전극 및 제 2 터치 전극이 형성될 수도 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에서 상기 감지 전극, 상기 터치 전극 및 상기 코일부는 동일한 전극 재료로 형성될 수 있고, 상기 코일부의 높이는 상기 감지 전극 또는 상기 터치 전극과 동일하며, 상기 코일부의 폭은 상기 감지 전극 또는 상기 터치 전극의 폭보다 크게 형성될 수 있다.
한편 상기 코일부는 상기 제 1 기판 상에서 상기 제 1 감지 전극 및 제 1 터치 전극이 형성된 면 또는 상기 제 2 기판 상에서 상기 제 2 감지 전극 및 제 2 터치 전극이 형성된 면 중 적어도 하나에 형성될 수 있다. 뿐만 아니라, 상기 기판과 결합하고, 비유효 영역에 코일부가 형성된 코일 기판을 더 포함할 수도 있다. 상기 코일부는 복수의 루프로 형성될 수 있다.
본 발명에 따르면, 스타일러스 펜에 전원이 구동되지 않아도 스타일러스 펜을 이용하여 터치 디바이스를 활용할 수 있다.
특히, 다양한 형태의 터치 패널에 코일부를 적용하여 스타일러스 펜에 전원 공급이 가능하다.

이하, 첨부된 도면들을 참조하여 본 발명에 따른 터치 패널을 상세하게 설명한다. 설명하는 실시 예들은 본 발명의 기술 사상을 통상의 기술자가 용이하게 이해할 수 있도록 제공되는 것으로 이에 의해 본 발명이 한정되지 않는다. 또한, 첨부된 도면에 표현된 사항들은 본 발명의 실시 예들을 쉽게 설명하기 위해 도식화된 도면으로 실제로 구현되는 형태와 상이할 수 있다.
한편, 어떤 구성 요소들을 '포함'한다는 표현은, '개방형'의 표현으로서 해당 구성요소들이 존재하는 것을 단순히 지칭할 뿐이며, 추가적인 구성요소들을 배제하는 것으로 이해되어서는 안 된다.
또한, '제 1, 제 2' 등과 같은 표현은, 복수의 구성들을 구분하기 위한 용도로만 사용되는 표현으로써, 구성들 사이의 순서나 기타 특징들을 한정하지 않는다.
터치 패널은 입력 장치(예를 들어, 손가락 등)의 위치를 감지하는 유효 영역(VA)과 이 유효 영역(VA)의 주위에 배치되는 비유효 영역(UA)이 정의되는 기판을 포함한다.
여기서, 유효 영역(VA)에는 입력 장치를 감지할 수 있도록 투명 전극이 형성될 수 있다. 그리고, 비유효 영역(UA)에는 투명 전극을 전기적으로 연결하는 배선이 형성될 수 있다. 또한, 비유효 영역(UA)에는 상기 배선에 연결되는 외부 회로 등이 위치할 수 있다. 이러한 비유효 영역(UA)에는 더미층이 형성될 수 있으며, 이 더미층에는 로고(logo) 등이 형성될 수 있다.
이와 같은 터치 패널에 입력 장치가 접촉되면, 입력 장치가 접촉된 부분에서 정전 용량의 차이가 발생하고, 이러한 차이가 발생한 부분을 접촉 위치로 검출한다.
이러한 터치 패널을 좀 더 상세하게 설명하면 다음과 같다.
기판은 상기 기판 상에 형성되는 감지 전극, 절연층, 배선 전극 및 회로 기판 등을 지지한다. 상기 기판은 다양한 물질로 형성될 수 있다. 예를 들어, 유리 기판 또는 플라스틱 기판으로 형성될 수 있다. 기판은 휴대폰 기타 전자 장비의 커버 기판일 수 있으나, 기판이 커버 기판과 별도로 구비된 기판인 것을 배제하는 것은 아니다.
기판은 유효 영역(VA) 및 상기 유효 영역을 둘러싸는 비유효 영역(UA)을 포함하고, 기판의 비유효 영역(UA)에는 더미층이 형성된다. 더미층은 배선 전극과 상기 배선 전극을 외부 회로에 연결하는 인쇄 회로 기판 등이 외부에서 보이지 않도록 소정의 색을 가지는 물질을 도포하여 형성될 수 있다. 상기 더미층은 원하는 외관에 적합한 색을 가질 수 있는데, 일례로 흑색 안료 또는 흰색 안료 등을 포함하여 흑색 또는 흰색을 나타낼 수 있다. 또한, 상기 더미층에는 다양한 방법으로 원하는 로고 등을 형성할 수 있다. 즉, 상기 비유효 영역(UA)에는 흑색 안료 또는 흰색 안료를 이용하여 더미층을 형성할 수 있다. 이 때, 흰색 안료를 사용하는 경우, 화이트층이 형성되고, 흑색 안료를 사용하는 경우 블랙층이 형성될 수 있다. 여기서 흰색 안료는 투명한 안료를 포함한다.
감지 전극은 광의 투과를 방해하지 않으면서 전기가 흐를 수 있도록 투명 전도성 물질을 포함할 수 있다, 일례로, 상기 감지 전극은 인듐 주석 산화물(indium tin oxide), 인듐 아연 산화물(indium zinc oxide), 구리 산화물(copper oxide), 주석 산화물(tin oxide), 아연 산화물(zinc oxide), 티타늄 산화물(titanium oxide) 등의 금속 산화물을 포함할 수 있다. 또는, 나노와이어, 감광성 나노와이어 필름, 탄소나노튜브(CNT), 그래핀(graphene) 또는 전도성 폴리머를 포함할 수 있다. 또는, 다양한 금속을 포함할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 상기 감지 전극은 크롬(Cr), 니켈(Ni), 구리(Cu), 알루미늄(Al), 은(Ag), 몰리브덴(Mo). 금(Au), 티타튬(Ti) 및 이들의 합금 중 적어도 하나의 금속을 포함할 수 있다. 뿐만 아니라, 전기 전도성이 우수한 금속을 포함할 수 있다.
터치 전극 또한 광의 투과를 방해하지 않으면서 전기가 흐를 수 있도록 투명 전도성 물질을 포함할 수 있으며, 스타일러스 펜과 같은 입력 수단에 의해 발생하는 터치 입력을 감지한다. 상기 나열된 감지 전극의 형성 물질과 동일한 금속 산화물, 금속 또는 나노와이어, 감광성 나노와이어 필름, 탄소나노튜브(CNT), 그래핀(graphene) 또는 전도성 폴리머를 포함할 수 있다.
배선 전극은 기판의 비유효 영역에 형성되며, 감지 전극에서 감지한 전기 신호를 터치 패널의 드라이버 IC 등에 전송하는 매개가 되는 구성이다. 배선 전극은 전기 전도성이 우수한 금속을 포함할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 인듐 주석 산화물(indium tin oxide), 인듐 아연 산화물(indium zinc oxide), 구리 산화물(copper oxide), 주석 산화물(tin oxide), 아연 산화물(zinc oxide), 티타늄 산화물(titanium oxide) 등의 금속 산화물을 포함할 수 있고, 나노와이어, 감광성 나노와이어 필름, 탄소나노튜브(CNT), 그래핀(graphene) 또는 전도성 폴리머를 포함할 수도 있다. 뿐만 아니라 다양한 금속을 포함할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 크롬(Cr), 니켈(Ni), 구리(Cu), 알루미늄(Al), 은(Ag), 몰리브덴(Mo). 금(Au), 티타튬(Ti) 및 이들의 합금 중 적어도 하나의 금속을 포함할 수 있다. 배선 전극은 기판의 비유효 영역에서 더미층 상부에 형성될 수 있다.
터치 배선 전극 또한 기판의 비유효 영역에 형성되며, 터치 전극에서 감지한 전기 신호를 터치 패널의 드라이버 IC 등에 전송한다. 상술한 배선 전극을 형성하는 다양한 물질에 의해 형성될 수 있다.
본 발명의 감지 전극, 터치 전극, 배선 전극, 터치 배선 전극 및 코일부 중 적어도 어느 하나는 전도성 패턴을 가질 수 있고, 이 전도성 패턴은 메쉬 선과 메쉬 개구부를 가지는 메쉬 구조로 형성될 수 있다.
상기 전극들은 복수 개의 서브 전극들을 포함할 수 있고, 상기 서브 전극들은 메쉬 형상으로 서로 교차하면서 배치될 수 있다. 자세하게, 메쉬 형상으로 서로 교차하는 복수 개의 서브 전극들에 의해 메쉬선(LA) 및 상기 메쉬선(LA) 사이의 메쉬 개구부(OA)를 포함할 수 있다. 상기 메쉬선(LA)의 선폭은 약 0.1㎛ 내지 약 10㎛일 수 있다. 상기 메쉬선(LA)의 선폭이 약 0.1㎛ 미만인 메쉬 선부는 제조 공정 상 불가능한거나, 메쉬선의 단락이 발생할 수 있고, 약 10㎛를 초과하는 경우, 전극 패턴이 외부에서 시인되어 시인성이 저하될 수 있다. 바람직하게는, 상기 메쉬선(LA)의 선폭은 약 0.5㎛ 내지 약 7㎛일 수 있다. 더 바람직하게는, 상기 메쉬선의 선폭은 약 1㎛ 내지 약 3.5㎛일 수 있다.
또한, 상기 메쉬 개구부는 다양한 형상으로 형성될 수 있다. 예를 들어, 상기 메쉬 개구부(OA)는 사각형, 다이아몬드형, 오각형, 육각형의 다각형 형상 또는 원형 형상 등 다양한 형상을 가질 수 있다. 또한, 상기 메쉬 개구부는 규칙적인(regular) 형상 또는 랜덤(random)한 형상으로 형성될 수 있다.
전극이 메쉬 형상을 가짐으로써, 유효 영역 일례로, 디스플레이 영역 상에서 상기 감지 전극의 패턴이 보이지 않게 할 수 있다. 즉, 상기 감지 전극이 금속으로 형성되어도, 패턴이 보이지 않게 할 수 있다. 또한, 상기 감지 전극이 대형 크기의 터치 패널에 적용되어도 터치 패널의 저항을 낮출 수 있다.

본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 터치 패널은 유효 영역 및 비유효 영역을 가지는 기판, 상기 기판 상의 유효 영역에 형성되는 감지 전극 및 터치 전극, 상기 기판 상의 비유효 영역에 형성되며, 상기 감지 전극과 연결되는 배선 전극, 상기 기판 상의 비유효 영역에 형성되며, 상기 터치 전극과 연결되는 터치 배선 전극 및 상기 기판 상의 비유효 영역에 형성되는 코일부를 포함한다.
본 발명은 기판 상에 코일부가 형성되는 것이 종래와 구별된다. 코일부(410)는 터치 패널의 입력 수단인 스타일러스 펜에 전원을 공급하기 위한 구성이다. 앞서 살핀 바와 같이 종래에는 스타일러스 펜 내부에 전원부가 별도로 구비되어, 전원부로부터 전원을 공급받아 스타일러스 펜이 구동하였으나, 본 발명은 상기 코일부(410)가 스타일러스 펜으로 전원을 공급하고, 스타일러스 펜은 공급받은 전원으로 구동되어 전원이 없는(battery-less) 형태로도 스타일러스 펜의 입력을 감지할 수 있다.
코일부(410)는 하나 이상의 전극 루프로 형성된다. 보다 상세하게는 터치 패널의 비유효 영역 상에서 터치 패널의 형상을 따라 또는 비유효 영역과 유효 영역의 경계를 따라 또는 다양한 폐쇄 루프 형태로 형성된다. 상기 코일부(410)는 스타일러스 펜이 터치 패널의 표면으로 접근하면, 코일부(410) 내에 자속이 변화하여 전자기 유도 원리에 따라 스타일러스 펜 내부에 구비된 코일에 유도 전류가 발생한다. 스타일러스 펜은 유도된 전류에 의해 구동될 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에서 기판은 제 1 감지 전극 및 제 1 터치 전극이 형성되는 제 1 기판(200) 및 제 2 감지 전극 및 제 2 터치 전극이 형성되는 제 2 기판(300)을 포함할 수 있다. 이 때, 비유효 영역에 더미층이 형성된 커버 기판(100)을 더 포함할 수 있다. 본 실시예는 도 1에 나타나 있다. 이 경우, 상기 배선 전극 및 터치 배선 전극은 제 1 기판 및 제 2 기판의 비유효 영역 상에서 상기 더미층이 형성된 영역 내에 형성된다. 코일부(410)는 커버 기판(100), 제 1 기판(200) 또는 제 2 기판(300) 중 적어도 어느 하나의 비유효 영역에 형성될 수 있다. 보다 구체적인 실시예로, 상기 제 1 기판(200) 상에서 상기 제 1 감지 전극(210)이 형성된 면, 또는 상기 제 2 기판(300) 상에서 상기 제 2 감지 전극(310)이 형성된 면, 또는 상기 커버 기판(100)이 상기 제 1 기판(200)과 결합되는 상기 커버 기판(100)의 일면 중 적어도 어느 하나에 형성될 수 있다.
도 1의 (a)는 제 1 기판(200)에서 제 1 감지 전극(210)이 형성된 면의 비유효 영역에 코일부(410)가 형성된 예이고 도 1의 (b)는 제 2 기판(300)에서 제 2 감지 전극(310)이 형성된 면의 비유효 영역에 코일부(410)가 형성된 예를 나타낸 단면도이다. 한편 도 1의 (c)는 제 1, 2 기판에 코일부(410)가 모두 형성된 예를 나타낸 단면도이다. 이 때도, 코일부(410)는 제 1, 2 감지 전극이 형성된 면에 형성될 수 있다. 도 1의 (d)는 커버 기판(100)에 코일부(410)가 형성된 예이다. 구체적으로는 커버 기판(100)과 제 1 기판(200)이 결합하는 커버 기판(100)의 일면(도 1의 (d)에서는 커버 기판(100)의 하면)의 비유효 영역에 코일부(410)가 형성되어 있다.
이 외에도 제 1, 2 기판 및 커버 기판(100) 모두에 코일부(410)가 형성될 수도 있다. 즉 제 1, 2 기판 및 커버 기판(100) 중 적어도 어느 하나 이상에 코일부(410)가 형성된 것은 본 발명의 범위로 보아야 한다. 한편, 각각의 코일부(410) 또한 복수의 루프로 형성될 수 있다. 코일부(410)가 복수 개 형성되거나, 각각의 코일부(410)가 복수의 루프로 형성되는 경우, 스타일러스 펜에 전원을 전달하는 코일 루프의 턴(turn) 수가 증가하므로, 보다 많은 전류를 유도할 수 있다. 따라서, 스타일러스 펜을 구동하기 위한 전류의 크기와 같은 설계 요소를 반영하여 코일부(410)의 수를 결정할 수 있다. 상기 코일부는 상기 더미층의 하부에 형성되거나 상기 더미층의 상부에 형성될 수 있다.
한편, 본 발명의 다른 실시예에서는 기판(200)의 일면에는 제 1 감지 전극 및 제 1 터치 전극이 형성되고, 타면에는 제 2 감지 전극 및 제 2 터치 전극이 형성될 수 있다. 본 실시예는 도 2를 통해 살펴본다. 본 실시예는 앞선 실시예와는 달리 제 1, 2 감지 전극 및 제 1, 2 터치 전극이 하나의 기판에 형성된다. 보다 구체적으로는 제 1 기판(200)의 일면에는 제 1 방향으로 제 1 감지 전극(210)과 제 1 터치 전극(220)이 형성되고 제 1 기판(200)의 타면에는 제 2 방향으로 제 2 감지 전극(310)과 제 2 터치 전극(320)이 형성된다.
이러한 구조에서도 커버 기판(100) 또는 제 1 기판(200) 중 적어도 어느 하나의 비유효 영역에 코일부(410)가 형성될 수 있다. 보다 구체적으로는 상기 제 1 기판(200)의 상면, 또는 상기 제 1 기판(200)의 하면, 또는 상기 커버 기판(100)이 상기 제 1 기판(200)과 결합되는 상기 커버 기판(100)의 일면 중 적어도 어느 하나의 면에 코일부(410)가 형성될 수 있다. 도 2의 (a)는 제 1 감지 전극(210)과 제 1 터치 전극(220)이 형성된 제 1 기판(200)의 상면에 코일부(410)가 형성된 예이고, 도 2의 (b)는 제 2 감지 전극(310)과 제 2 터치 전극(320)이 형성된 제 2 기판(300)의 하면에 코일부(410)가 형성된 예이다. 한편, 도 2의 (c)는 제 1 기판(200)의 상/하면에 모두 코일부(410)가 형성된 예이고 도 2의 (d)는 커버 기판(100)의 일면 구체적으로는 제 1 기판(200)이 결합하는 커버 기판(100)의 일면에 코일부(410)가 형성된다. 한편, 도면에는 나타나지 않았지만 제 1 기판(200)의 상/하면 및 커버 기판(100) 모두에 코일부(410)가 형성될 수 있다.
본 실시예에서 커버 기판(100)과 제 1 기판(200) 사이에는 접착층(500)이 형성될 수 있고, 상기 접착층(500)을 매개로 제 1 기판(200)과 커버 기판(100)이 결합할 수 있다. 상기 코일부는 상기 더미층의 하부에 형성되거나 상기 더미층의 상부에 형성될 수 있다.
본 발명의 다른 실시예에서는 상기 제 1 기판의 비유효 영역에 더미층이 형성되고, 상기 배선 전극 또는 상기 터치 배선 전극은 상기 더미층 상부에 형성될 수 있다. 본 실시예는 도 3을 통해 살펴본다. 본 실시예는 앞서 도 1, 2를 통해 설명한 실시예와는 달리, 제 1 기판이 커버 기판으로 기능한다. 구체적으로는 제 2 기판과 결합하는 제 1 기판(100) 일면의 유효 영역 상에 제 1 감지 전극(210), 제 1 터치 전극(220)이 형성된다. 그리고, 제 2 기판(200)에 제 2 감지 전극(310), 제 2 터치 전극(320)이 형성되며, 코일부(410)는 제 1 기판 또는 제 2 기판 중 적어도 어느 하나에 형성된다. 이 때, 코일부(410)는 제 1 기판 또는 제 2 기판에서 감지 전극/터치 전극이 형성된 면의 비유효 영역에 형성될 수 있다. 코일부(410)는 제 1 기판 또는 제 2 기판 중 적어도 어느 하나에 형성될 수 있다. 도 3의 (a)는 제 2 기판에서 감지 전극/터치 전극이 형성된 면에 코일부(410)가 형성된 예이고, 도 3의 (b)는 제 1 기판에서 감지 전극/터치 전극이 형성된 면에 코일부(410)가 형성된 예이다. 도 3의 (c)는 제 1 기판 및 제 2 기판 모두에 코일부(410)가 형성된 예이다.
한편, 상기 코일부는 상기 더미층의 하부에 형성되거나 상기 더미층의 상부에서 상기 배선 전극 및 터치 배선 전극과 중첩하지 않도록 형성될 수 있다.
본 실시예에서도 상기 제 1 기판과 제 2 기판은 접착층(500)을 매개로 결합할 수 있으며, 상기 접착층(500)에 의해 제 1 기판에 형성된 감지 전극/터치 전극과 제 2 기판에 형성된 감지 전극/터치 전극이 절연될 수 있다. 이로써 각각 제 1, 2 방향에서의 터치 위치를 감지할 수 있고, 이를 이용하여 2차원 상의 터치 위치를 감지할 수 있다.
한편, 본 발명의 일 실시예에서 기판에 형성되는 코일부(410)는 제 1 감지 전극(210) 및 제 1 터치 전극(220)이 형성되는 면 또는 제 2 감지 전극(310) 및 제 2 터치 전극(320)이 형성되는 면과 동일한 면에 형성될 수 있다. 이러한 형상의 터치 패널은 제조 공정을 단축시킬 수 있는 장점이 있다. 감지 전극, 터치 전극뿐만 아니라 코일부(410)도 전기 전도성이 좋은 금속 재료로 형성할 수 있다. 특히, 본 발명의 일 실시예에서는 코일부(410)를 감지 전극 또는 터치 전극과 동일한 전극 재료로 형성시킬 수 있다. 감지 전극과 터치 전극의 전극 재료는 전술하였으므로 중복하여 기재하지 아니한다.
감지 전극 또는 터치 전극을 형성시키는 공정, 보다 상세하게는 제 1 기판(200) 또는 제 2 기판(300) 상에 감지 전극, 터치 전극을 인쇄하는 공정에서 비유효 영역에 코일부(410)까지 인쇄하는 경우, 한 번의 공정으로 감지 전극, 터치 전극, 코일부(410)를 모두 만들 수 있다. 만약, 코일부(410)가 기판 상에 감지 전극, 터치 전극이 형성되지 않은 반대면에 형성되는 경우, 코일부(410)를 형성시키기 위한 공정을 추가로 진행해야 하는데, 본 실시예와 같이 코일부(410)를 감지 전극 또는 터치 전극과 동일한 재료로, 기판의 동일한 면에 형성시키는 경우 별도의 공정을 추가하지 않더라도 코일부(410)를 형성시킬 수 있다.
한편, 제 1 감지 전극(210)과 제 1 터치 전극(220)은 제 1 방향으로, 제 2 감지 전극(310)과 제 2 터치 전극(320)은 제 2 방향으로 형성되는데, 여기서 제 1 방향과 제 2 방향은 2차원 상의 위치를 감지하기 위한 상대적인 방향이다. 바람직하게는 각각 x, y축 방향으로 설정될 수 있으나, 제 1, 2 방향이 반드시 수직을 이뤄야하는 것은 아니며, 2차원 좌표를 획득할 수 있는 서로 다른 방향으로 형성되어도 무방하다.
한편, 본 발명의 다른 실시예에서는 코일부(410)의 높이가, 코일부(410)가 형성된 기판의 감지 전극 또는 터치 전극과 동일한 높이로 형성될 수 있다. 구체적으로, 코일부(410)가 제 1 기판(200)에 형성된 경우에는 제 1 감지 전극(210) 또는 제 1 터치 전극(220)과 동일한 높이를 가질 수 있고, 코일부(410)가 제 2 기판(300)에 형성된 경우에는 제 2 감지 전극(310) 또는 제 2 터치 전극(320)과 동일한 높이를 가질 수 있다. 본 실시예에서 높이가 동일하다는 것은 수치상 완전히 동일한 높이뿐만 아니라, 구조상 실질적으로 동일한 높이라고 볼 수 있는 오차 범위 또한 포함하는 것으로 보아야 한다. 예를 들어 높이의 차이가 5% 내외인 범위까지는 동일의 범위에 포함된다. 코일부(410)의 높이를 감지 전극/터치 전극과 동일하게 형성시키는 경우 코일부(410)로 인하여 터치 패널의 전체 두께가 두꺼워지는 것을 막을 수 있다. 뿐만 아니라 감지 전극, 터치 전극 및 코일부(410)의 상부에 추가적으로 형성되는 터치 패널의 다른 구성이 동일한 높이에서 형성될 수 있다는 장점이 있다.
본 발명의 다른 실시예에 따른 터치 패널은 코일부(410)의 폭이 제 1, 2 감지 전극 또는 제 1, 2 터치 전극의 폭보다 더 크다. 코일부(410)의 폭이 클수록 전기 전도성이 개선되고 그 결과, 스타일러스 펜에 전원을 더욱 원활하게 유도할 수 있다. 감지 전극 및 터치 전극의 폭이 넓어지면, 유효 영역에서 터치 패널의 시인성이 악화되거나 터치 패널의 감지능력이 떨어지는 문제가 발생한다. 따라서, 감지 전극과 터치 전극의 폭은 한계가 있다. 그러나 본 발명의 코일부(410)는 감지 전극 또는 터치 전극의 폭보다 크게 형성시킬 수 있으며, 이로써 전원 공급 성능을 향상시킬 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에서는 커버 기판(100)과 제 1 기판(200) 사이 또는 제 1 기판(200)과 제 2 기판(300) 사이에 형성되는 접착층(500)을 더 포함할 수 있다. 즉, 커버 기판(100)과 제 1 기판(200), 그리고 제 1 기판(200)과 제 2 기판(300)은 접착층(500)을 매개로 결합할 수 있다.
도 4 내지 도 6은 도 1 내지 도 3에 도시된 실시예에서 코일 기판이 더 포함된 예를 나타낸 단면도이다. 본 발명의 다른 실시예에서는 기판과 결합하고, 비유효 영역에 코일부가 형성된 코일 기판(400)을 더 포함할 수 있다. 한편, 코일부는 복수의 루프로 형성될 수도 있다.
이하에서는 본 발명의 다른 실시예에 따른 터치 패널에 대하여 살펴본다.
본 발명의 실시예에 따른 터치 디바이스는 터치 패널과 결합되는 표시 패널을 포함할 수 있다.
표시 패널은 액정표시장치(LCD), 전기영동표시장치(Electrophoretic Display: EPD, Electric Paper Display), 플라즈마표시장치(Plasma Display Panel device: PDP), 전계방출표시장치(Field Emission Display device: FED), 전기발광표시장치(Electro luminescence Display Device: ELD) 및 전기습윤표시장치(Electro-Wetting Display: EWD), 유기발광표시장치(OLED) 등이 될 수 있으며, 이에 따라 표시패널은 다양한 형태로 구성될 수 있다.
상기 라이트 모듈은 상기 표시 패널 방향으로 광을 츨사하는 광원을 포함할 수 있다. 일례로, 상기 광원은 발광다이오드(LED) 또는 유기발광다이오드(OLED)를 포함할 수 있다.
상기 액정표시장치(LCD)는 복수 개의 액정 소자들을 포함할 수 있다. 이러한 액정 소자는 외부에서 가해지는 전기 신호에 따라 내부적인 분자의 배열이 변화하여 각각 일정한 패턴의 방향성을 띌 수 있다.
구동부는 상기 라이트 모듈에서 출사되는 광들이 상기 표시 패널을 통과하면서, 상기 광들을 각각 다른 패턴으로 굴절시킬 수 있다. 상기 구동부는 상기 표시 패널 상에 배치되는 편광 필터 및 컬러 필터 등을 더 포함할 수 있다. 또는, 표시 패널 없이 상기 라이트 모듈만을 포함할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 각각의 픽셀에 개별적으로 구동되는 광원을 포함하는 라이트 모듈만을 포함할 수 있다. 또는, 상기 구동부는 라이트 모듈 없이 표시패널 만을 포함할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 전계방출 표시장치(Field Emission Display), 플라즈마 표시장치(PDP), 유기발광표시장치(OLED) 및 전기 영동 표시 장치(EPD)등은 표시패널 자체가 라이트 모듈을 포함 할 수 있다.
터치 패널은 상기 구동부 상에 배치될 수 있다. 자세하게, 상기 터치 패널은 커버 케이스에 수용되어 상기 구동부 상에 배치될 수 있다. 상기 터치 패널은 상기 구동부와 접착될 수 있다. 자세하게, 상기 터치 패널과 상기 구동부는 광학용 투명 접착제(Optical Clear Adhesive, OCA) 또는 광학용 투명 레진(OCR) 등을 통해 서로 접착될 수 있다. 그러나, 실시예는 이에 제한되지 않고, 상기 터치 패널은 상기 접착제 없이 구동부 상에 직접 전극이 형성되는 온-셀(on-cell) 구조 또는 상기 구동부 내부에 터치 패널이 배치되는 인-셀(in-cell) 구조로 형성될 수 있음은 물론이다.
표시 패널은 상기 터치 패널과 접착층을 통해 서로 접착될 수 있다. 예를 들어, 광학용 투명 접착제(OCA) 또는 광학용 투명 레진(OCR) 을 포함하는 접착층을 통해 서로 합지될 수 있다. 본 발명의 도 1 내지 도 6을 통해 설명한 터치 패널에서는 커버 기판과 표시 패널이 직접 결합하는 것이 아니라, 커버 기판의 하부에서 즉 제 1 기판, 제 2 기판 또는 코일 기판의 하부에서 표시 패널과 터치 패널이 결합할 수 있다.
본 발명의 다른 실시예에 따른 터치 패널은 표시 패널을 포함하고, 표시 패널이 제 1 기판, 제 2 기판을 포함할 수 있다. 상기 표시 패널이 액정표시패널인 경우, 상기 표시 패널은 박막트랜지스터(Thin Film Transistor,TFT)와 화소 전극을 포함하는 제 1 기판과 컬러필터층들을 포함하는 제 2 기판이 액정층을 사이에 두고 합착된 구조로 형성될 수 있다.
또한, 상기 표시 패널은 박막트랜지스터, 칼라필터 및 블랙매트릭스가 제 1 기판에 형성되고, 제 2 기판이 액정층을 사이에 두고 상기 제 1 기판과 합착되는 COT(color filter on transistor)구조의 액정표시패널일 수도 있다. 즉, 상기 제 1 기판 상에 박막 트랜지스터를 형성하고, 상기 박막 트랜지스터 상에 보호막을 형성하고, 상기 보호막 상에 컬러필터층을 형성할 수 있다. 또한, 상기 제 1 기판에는 상기 박막 트랜지스터와 접촉하는 화소전극을 형성한다. 이때, 개구율을 향상하고 마스크 공정을 단순화하기 위해 블랙매트릭스를 생략하고, 공통 전극이 블랙매트릭스의 역할을 겸하도록 형성할 수도 있다.
또한, 상기 표시 패널이 액정표시패널인 경우, 상기 표시 장치는 상기 표시 패널 배면에서 광을 제공하는 백라이트 유닛을 더 포함할 수 있다.
상기 표시 패널이 유기전계발광표시패널인 경우, 상기 표시 패널은 별도의 광원이 필요하지 않은 자발광 소자를 포함한다. 상기 표시 패널은 제 1 기판 상에 박막트랜지스터가 형성되고, 상기 박막트랜지스터와 접촉하는 유기발광소자가 형성된다. 상기 유기발광소자는 양극, 음극 및 상기 양극과 음극 사이에 형성된 유기발광층을 포함할 수 있다. 또한, 상기 유기발광소자 상에 인캡슐레이션을 위한 봉지 기판 역할을 하는 제 2 기판을 더 포함할 수 있다.
상술한 실시예에 따른 터치 디바이스는 표시 패널과 터치 패널이 일체로 형성될 수 있다. 즉, 앞선 실시예에서 터치 패널의 제 1 기판, 제 2 기판 중 적어도 어느 하나에 형성된 감지 전극, 터치 전극, 코일부가 표시 패널에 포함된 제 1 기판, 제 2 기판 중 어느 하나에 형성될 수 있다. 이 경우, 터치 패널 내에 형성된 제 1, 2 기판 중 적어도 어느 하나는 생략될 수 있다.
상기 표시 패널의 일면에 감지 전극, 터치 전극, 코일부가 배치될 수 있다. 즉, 표시 패널의 제 1 기판 또는 제 2 기판에 감지 전극, 터치 전극 또는 코일부가 형성될 수 있다. 이 때, 상부에 배치된 기판의 상면에 적어도 하나의 감지 전극, 터치 전극, 코일부가 형성될 수 있다. 즉, 표시 패널의 표면에 감지 전극 등이 형성될 수 있는 것이다.
일 예로, 표시 패널의 제 1 기판의 상부에 제 1 감지 전극 등이 형성되고, 터치 패널의 커버 기판 또는 터치 패널 내에 포함된 기판에 제 2 감지 전극 등이 형성될 수 있다. 터치 패널과 표시 패널 사이에는 접착층이 배치되어, 상기 커버 기판과 상기 표시 패널은 접착층을 매개로 결합할 수 있다.
한편, 터치 패널 하부에 편광판을 더 포함할 수 있다. 상기 편광판은 선 편광판 또는 외광 반사 방지 편광판일 수 있다. 예를 들면, 상기 표시 패널이 액정표시패널인 경우, 상기 편광판은 선 편광판일 수 있다. 또한, 상기 표시 패널이 유기전계발광표시패널인 경우, 상기 편광판은 외광 반사 방지 편광판 일 수 있다. 본 실시예에 따른 터치 디바이스는 터치 패널 내에 감지 전극을 지지하는 적어도 하나의 기판을 생략할 수 있다. 이로 인해, 두께가 얇고 가벼운 터치 디바이스를 형성할 수 있다.
본 발명의 다른 실시예에서는 표시 패널과 일체로 형성된 터치 패널을 포함할 수 있다. 즉, 터치 패널에서 적어도 하나의 감지 전극, 터치 전극을 지지하는 기판이 생략될 수 있다.
즉, 감지 전극, 터치 전극이 형성된 기판이 상기 표시 패널의 내측에 형성될 수 있다.
상기 표시 패널은 제 1 기판 및 제 2 기판을 포함한다. 이 때, 상기 제 1 기판 및 제 2 기판의 사이에 적어도 하나의 감지 전극, 터치 전극 또는 코일부가 배치된다. 즉, 상기 제 1 기판 또는 상기 제 2 기판의 적어도 일면에 적어도 하나의 감지 전극이 배치될 수 있다.
예를 들어 커버 기판의 일면 또는 터치 패널에 포함된 기판에 제 1 감지 전극, 제 2 감지 전극이 배치될 수 있다. 그리고 표시 패널의 상기 제 1 기판 및 제 2 기판 사이에 제 2 감지 전극, 제 2 터치 전극이 형성될 수 있다. 이 때 코일부는 제 1, 2 감지 전극, 터치 전극이 형성된 기판 중 적어도 어느 하나에 형성될 수 도 있고, 터치 패널, 표시 패널에 포함된 별도의 기판 또는 커버 기판에 형성될 수도 있다. 상술한 구조로 터치 디바이스를 제조하는 경우, 공정을 단순화하고, 비용을 절감할 수 있다.
도 7은 본 발명의 다른 실시 예에 따른 터치패널 제조 방법을 개략적으로 나타낸 순서도, 도 8는 본 발명의 다른 실시 예에 따른 코일부가 형성된 터치패널을 개략적으로 나타낸 측면도이다. 도 7 및 도 8에 도시된 바와 같이, 본 발명의 다른 실시 예에 따른 본 발명의 터치패널 제조 방법은, 전자기 유도 방식 또는 전자기 공명 방식에서 터치 펜에 내장되는 공진회로가 외부로부터 교류 전원을 공급받아 공진하기 위해 터치 펜에 전원을 공급하는 역할을 수행하는 파워코일을 커버 기판(730) 또는 필름으로 이루어진 코일 기판(740)에 형성하는 방법이다.
본 발명의 다른 실시 예에 따른 터치패널 제조 방법은 커버 기판 상에 코일부의 형상을 따라 촉매를 분사하는 단계(S610)와 촉매가 분사된 커버 기판을 도금액과 반응시키는 단계(S620)와 도금액과 촉매의 반응에 따라 코일부를 형성시키는 단계(S630) 및 코일부가 형성된 커버 기판을 감지 전극이 형성된 기판과 결합시키는 단계(S640)를 포함한다.
먼저, 커버 기판(730)에 코일부(731)을 형성하기 위해 커버 기판(730)상의 코일부(731)을 형성하고자 하는 위치에 잉크젯 방식으로 촉매를 분사한다. 이때 사용되는 잉크젯 방식은 표면 세정, 프린팅, 열처리의 3단계 공정으로 기존의 유리 기판에 포토 레지스터를 도포한 후에 노광 및 현상과 세정 공정 등으로 이루어지는 포토리소그래피(photolithography) 공정보다 공정 시간을 대폭 단축시킬 수 있다. 잉크젯 방식은 미세 노즐을 통해 용액이나 현탄액을 수~ 수십pℓ의 방울로 분사하는 비접촉식 패터닝 기술이다.
잉크젯 방법으로 분사된 촉매로는 팔라듐(Pd)이 사용되는 것이 바람직하다. 촉매가 분사되면 촉매가 분사된 커버 기판(730)이 도금액에 담궈지고 촉매가 분사된 위치에 코일부(731)이 형성되는데, 잉크젯 방법으로 분사된 촉매는 코일부(731)이 형성되기 위한 SEED가 되는 것이다. 촉매는 코일부(731)가 형성되기 위한 SEED 역할을 하여 촉매가 분사된 자리에만 금속이 도금되어 코일부(731)가 형성되게 된다.
코일부(731)을 형성하는 금속은 구리(Cu), 은(Ag), 금(Au) 중 어느 하나로 이루어지는 것이 바람직하지만, ITO(Indium Tin Oxide), IZO(Indium Zinc Oxide), ZnO(Zinc Oxide), 구리 산화물(Copper Oxide), 주석 산화물(Tin Oxide), 아연 산화물(Zinc Oxide), 티타늄 산화물(Titanium Oxide) 등의 금속 산화물, 탄소나노큐브(CNT), 전도성 폴리머, 그래핀(graphene), 구리(Cu), 금(Au), 은(Ag), 알루미늄(Al), 티타늄(Ti), 니켈(Ni) 또는 이들의 합금을 포함하는 다양한 금속일 수 있다. 촉매 분사 단계(S610)에서 저점도의 촉매(SEED)가 분사된 커버 기판(730)이 도금액에 담궈지면 촉매(SEED) 분사된 위치에 금속이 고속으로 성장되어 코일부(731)가 형성된다.
커버 기판(730)에 코일부(731)가 형성되면 코일부(731)가 형성된 커버 기판(730)은 터치입력을 감지하는 감지 전극(711)이 형성된 기판(710)과 부착되어 터치 패널이 형성된다. 이렇게 형성된 터치 패널에는 터치 입력을 감지하여 제어하는 제어부(미도시) 등도 형성된다.
커버 기판(730)은 유효 영역과 유효 영역 외부를 둘러싸는 비 유효 영역으로 구분되며, 촉매 분사 단계(S610)는, 촉매를 비 유효 영역에 분사시키게 된다. 이때 유효 영역에서는 디스플레이가 표시될 수 있고 비 유효 영역에서는 디스플레이가 표시되지 않을 수 있다. 유효 영역 및 비 유효 영역 중 적어도 하나의 영역에서는 입력 장치(예를 들어, 손가락, 터치 펜 등)의 위치를 감지할 수 있다.
커버 기판(730)의 비 유효 영역에는 더미층이 형성될 수 있다. 더미층은 배선 전극과 배선 전극을 외부 회로에 연결하는 인쇄 회로 기판 등이 외부에서 보이지 않도록 소정의 색을 가지는 물질을 도포하여 형성될 수 있다. 상기 더미층은 원하는 외관에 적합한 색을 가질 수 있는데, 일례로 흑색 안료 또는 흰색 안료 등을 포함하여 흑색 또는 흰색을 나타낼 수 있다. 또한, 상기 더미층에는 다양한 방법으로 원하는 로고 등을 형성할 수 있다. 코일부(731)는 커버 기판(730)과 더미층 사이에 배치될 수 있고, 더미층과 감지 전극(711)이 배치되는 기판(710) 사이에 배치될 수도 있다. 또한, 코일부(731)는 커버 기판(730)에 배치된 더미층과 인접한 영역의 커버 기판(730)에 배치될 수 있다.
촉매 분사 단계(S610)는 비 유효 영역에서 루프 형상으로 분사시키는 것이 바람직하다. 또한, 기판 결합 단계(S640)는 접착층을 매개로 커버 기판(730)과 감지 전극이 형성된 기판(710)을 결합시킨다. 이때 커버 기판(730)은 소다라임유리(soda lime glass) 또는 알루미노 실리케이트 유리 등의 화학 강화 또는 반강화 유리를 포함할 수 있다.
코일부(731)와 감지 전극(711)은 서로 다른 기판에 형성되는 것이 바람직하지만, 코일부(731)와 감지 전극(711)이 같은 재료로 형성되고, 커버 기판(730)과 기판(710)이 같은 재료로 형성되는 경우, 코일부(731)와 감지 전극(711)은 서로 같은 기판에 형성될 수 있다. 서로 같은 기판에 형성되는 경우에는 코일부(731)와 감지 전극(711)이 형성될 영역에 촉매가 분사되고 촉매가 분사된 기판이 도금액과 반응하여 코일부(731) 및 감지 전극(711)이 형성되게 된다.
도 9는 본 발명의 또다른 실시 예에 따른 코일부가 형성된 터치 패널을 개략적으로 나타낸 측면도이다. 도 9를 참조하면, 본 발명의 또다른 실시 예에 따른 터치 패널 제조 방법은, 코일 기판(740) 상에 코일부(731)의 형상을 따라 촉매를 분사하는 단계와 촉매가 분사된 코일 기판(740)을 도금액과 반응시키는 단계와 도금액과 촉매의 반응에 따라 코일부(731)를 형성시키는 단계 및 코일부(731)가 형성된 코일 기판(740)을 감지 전극(711)이 형성된 기판과 결합시키는 단계를 포함한다.
본 발명의 또다른 실시 예에 따른 터치패널 제조 방법은 커버 기판(730)상에 코일부(731)를 형성하는 방법과 마찬가지로 잉크젯 방법으로 촉매를 분사한다. 이때 코일 기판(740)은 폴리이미드(Polyimide), 폴리카보네이트(Polycarbonate) 중 적어도 어느 하나로 이루어지는 필름으로 형성된다. 또한 이때의 코일 기판(740)은 프로필렌 글리콜(Propylene glycol) 폴리에틸렌 테레프탈레이트(Polyethylene terephthalate) 등의 강화 혹은 연성 플라스틱을 포함하거나, COC(Cyclic Olefin Copolymer), COP(Cyclic Olefin Polymer), 광등방 폴리카보네이트 또는 광등방 폴리메틸 메타크릴레이트(PMMA)를 포함할 수 있다.
잉크젯 방법으로 분사된 촉매로는 팔라듐(Pd)이 사용되는 것이 바람직하다. 촉매가 분사되면 촉매가 분사된 코일 기판(740)이 도금액에 담궈지고 촉매가 분사된 위치에 코일부(731)가 형성되는데, 잉크젯 방법으로 분사된 촉매는 코일부(731)이 형성되기 위한 SEED가 되는 것이다. 촉매는 코일부(731)가 형성되기 위한 SEED 역할을 하여 촉매가 분사된 자리에만 금속이 도금되어 코일부(731)가 형성되게 된다. 이 때, 코일부(731)을 형성하는 금속은 도 7 및 도 8에서의 코일부를 형성하는 금속과 동일하며, 중복된 설명은 생략하도록 한다.
코일 기판(740)에 코일부(731)가 형성되면 상기 코일 기판(740)은 터치 입력을 감지하는 감지 전극(711)이 형성된 기판(710)과 디스플레이부(720) 사이에 배치되어 결합된다. 이렇게 형성된 터치 패널에는 터치 입력을 감지하여 제어하는 제어부(미도시), 감지 전극(711)과 전기적으로 연결된 배선 전극 등도 형성된다.
코일 기판(740) 상에 코일부(731)를 형성시키는 경우, 커버 기판(730)이 곡면을 가지거나 플렉서블(flexible)한 소재일 때 커버 기판(730)을 코일 기판(740)에 부착하기 용이하여 공정을 간편화시키는 효과가 있다.
커버 기판(730)은 유효 영역과 유효 영역 외부를 둘러싸는 비 유효 영역으로 구분되며, 촉매 분사 단계(S610)는, 촉매를 비 유효 영역에 분사시키게 된다. 이때 유효 영역에서는 디스플레이가 표시될 수 있고 비 유효 영역에서는 디스플레이가 표시되지 않을 수 있다. 유효 영역 및 비 유효 영역 중 적어도 하나의 영역에서는 입력 장치(예를 들어, 손가락, 터치 펜 등)의 위치를 감지할 수 있다.
커버 기판(730)의 비 유효 영역에는 더미층이 형성될 수 있다. 더미층은 배선 전극과 배선 전극을 외부 회로에 연결하는 인쇄 회로 기판 등이 외부에서 보이지 않도록 소정의 색을 가지는 물질을 도포하여 형성될 수 있다. 상기 더미층은 원하는 외관에 적합한 색을 가질 수 있는데, 일례로 흑색 안료 또는 흰색 안료 등을 포함하여 흑색 또는 흰색을 나타낼 수 있다. 또한, 상기 더미층에는 다양한 방법으로 원하는 로고 등을 형성할 수 있다.
코일부(731)와 감지 전극(711)은 서로 다른 기판에 형성되는 것이 바람직하지만, 코일부(731)와 감지 전극(711)이 같은 재료로 형성되고, 코일 기판(740)과 기판(710)이 서로 같은 재료로 형성된 필름에 형성된다면, 코일부(731)와 감지 전극(711)은 서로 같은 기판에 형성될 수 있다. 서로 같은 기판에 형성되는 경우에는 코일부(731)와 감지 전극(711)이 형성될 영역에 촉매가 분사되고 촉매가 분사된 기판이 도금액과 반응하여 코일부(731) 및 감지 전극(711)이 형성되게 된다.
감지 전극(711)은 도 8 및 도 9에 도시된 바와 같이, 하나의 기판(710)의 상부에 형성되는 것으로 제한되지 않는다. 본 발명에 따른 감지 전극(711)은 하나의 기판의 상부 및 하부에 형성될 수 있고 두 개의 기판의 상부에 각각 형성될 수 있다. 또한, 감지 전극(711)은 커버 기판(730)에 형성될 수도 있다.
감지 전극(711)은 메쉬 형상으로 형성될 수 있다. 감지 전극(711)은 복수 개의 서브 전극을 포함할 수 있고 이러한 서브 전극들은 메쉬 형상으로 교차하여 배치될 수 있다.
감지 전극(711)이 형성되는 기판(710)은 소다라임유리(soda lime glass) 또는 알루미노 실리케이트 유리 등의 화학 강화 또는 반강화 유리를 포함할 수 있다. 또한, 기판(710)은 코일 기판(740)과 동일한 재료를 포함할 수 있으며, 중복된 설명은 생략하도록 한다.
기판(710)은 부분적으로 곡면을 가지면서 휘어질 수 있다. 즉, 기판(710은 부분적으로는 평면을 가지고, 부분적으로는 곡면을 가지면서 휘어질 수 있다. 자세하게, 상기 기판(710의 끝단이 곡면을 가지면서 휘어지거나 Random한 곡률을 포함한 표면을 가지며 휘어지거나 구부러질 수 있다. 또한, 상기 기판(710)은 유연한 특성을 가지는 플렉서블(flexible) 기판일 수 있다. 또한, 상기 기판(710)은 커브드(curved) 또는 벤디드(bended) 기판일 수 있다. 즉, 상기 기판(710)을 포함하는 터치 윈도우도 플렉서블, 커브드 또는 벤디드 특성을 가지도록 형성될 수 있다. 이로 인해, 실시예에 따른 터치 윈도우는 휴대가 용이하며, 다양한 디자인으로 변경이 가능할 수 있다.
코일부(731)가 커버 기판(730) 또는 코일 기판(740)에 형성된 터치 패널은 디스플레이부(720)와 부착된다. 디스플레이부(720)는 액정 표시 장치(LCD: Liquid Crystal Display), 유기 발광 다이오드(OLED: Organic Light Emitting Diode)가 될 수 있다.
감지 전극(711)은 디스플레이부(720)에 배치될 수 있다. 이때 디스플레이부(720)는 제1 기판, 제2 기판을 포함할 수 있다. 디스플레이부(720)이 액정표시패널인 경우, 상기 디스플레이부(720)은 박막트랜지스터(Thin Film Transistor,TFT)와 화소 전극을 포함하는 제 1 기판과 컬러필터층들을 포함하는 제 2 기판이 액정층을 사이에 두고 합착된 구조로 형성될 수 있다.
또한, 상기 디스플레이부(720)은 박막트랜지스터, 칼라필터 및 블랙매트릭스가 제 1 기판에 형성되고, 제 2 기판이 액정층을 사이에 두고 상기 제 1 기판과 합착되는 COT(color filter on transistor)구조의 액정표시패널일 수도 있다. 즉, 상기 제 1 기판 상에 박막 트랜지스터를 형성하고, 상기 박막 트랜지스터 상에 보호막을 형성하고, 상기 보호막 상에 컬러필터층을 형성할 수 있다. 또한, 상기 제 1 기판에는 상기 박막 트랜지스터와 접촉하는 화소전극을 형성한다. 이때, 개구율을 향상하고 마스크 공정을 단순화하기 위해 블랙매트릭스를 생략하고, 공통 전극이 블랙매트릭스의 역할을 겸하도록 형성할 수도 있다.
또한, 상기 디스플레이부(720)가 액정표시패널인 경우, 상기 디스플레이부(720) 배면에서 광을 제공하는 백라이트 유닛을 더 포함할 수 있다. 상기 디스플레이부(720)가 유기전계발광표시패널인 경우, 상기 디스플레이부(720)는 별도의 광원이 필요하지 않은 자발광 소자를 포함한다. 상기 디스플레이부(720)는 제 1 기판 상에 박막트랜지스터가 형성되고, 상기 박막트랜지스터와 접촉하는 유기발광소자가 형성된다. 상기 유기발광소자는 양극, 음극 및 상기 양극과 음극 사이에 형성된 유기발광층을 포함할 수 있다. 또한, 상기 유기발광소자 상에 인캡슐레이션을 위한 봉지 기판 역할을 하는 제 2 기판을 더 포함할 수 있다.
상술한 실시예에 따른 터치 디바이스는 디스플레이부(720)와 터치 패널이 일체로 형성될 수 있다. 터치 패널의 제 1 기판, 제 2 기판 중 적어도 어느 하나에 형성된 감지 전극, 터치 전극이 디스플레이부(720)에 포함된 제 1 기판, 제 2 기판 중 어느 하나에 형성될 수 있다. 이 경우, 터치 패널 내에 형성된 제 1, 2 기판 중 적어도 어느 하나는 생략될 수 있다.
상기 디스플레이부(720)의 일면에 감지 전극(711)이 배치될 수 있다. 즉, 디스플레이부(720)의 제 1 기판 또는 제 2 기판에 감지 전극(711)이 형성될 수 있다. 이 때, 상부에 배치된 기판의 상면에 적어도 하나의 감지 전극(711)이 형성될 수 있다. 즉, 디스플레이부(720)의 표면에 감지 전극(711) 등이 형성될 수 있는 것이다.
일 예로, 디스플레이부(720)의 제 1 기판의 상부에 제 1 감지 전극 등이 형성되고, 터치 패널의 커버 기판(730) 또는 터치 패널 내에 포함된 기판에 제 2 감지 전극 등이 형성될 수 있다. 터치 패널과 디스플레이부(720) 사이에는 접착층이 배치되어, 상기 커버 기판(730)과 상기 디스플레이부(720)는 접착층을 매개로 결합할 수 있다.
한편, 터치 패널 하부에 편광판을 더 포함할 수 있다. 상기 편광판은 선 편광판 또는 외광 반사 방지 편광판일 수 있다. 예를 들면, 상기 디스플레이부(720)이 액정표시패널인 경우, 상기 편광판은 선 편광판일 수 있다. 또한, 상기 디스플레이부(720)가 유기전계발광표시패널인 경우, 상기 편광판은 외광 반사 방지 편광판 일 수 있다. 본 실시예에 따른 터치 디바이스는 터치 패널 내에 감지 전극을 지지하는 적어도 하나의 기판을 생략할 수 있다. 이로 인해, 두께가 얇고 가벼운 터치 디바이스를 형성할 수 있다.
또한, 감지 전극(711)은 상기 디스플레이부(720)의 내측에 형성될 수 있다. 상기 디스플레이부(720)은 제 1 기판 및 제 2 기판을 포함한다. 이 때, 상기 제 1 기판 및 제 2 기판의 사이에 적어도 하나의 감지 전극, 터치 전극이 배치된다. 즉, 상기 제 1 기판 또는 상기 제 2 기판의 적어도 일면에 적어도 하나의 감지 전극이 배치될 수 있다.
예를 들어 커버 기판(730)의 일면 또는 터치 패널에 포함된 기판에 제 1 감지 전극, 제 2 감지 전극이 배치될 수 있다. 그리고 디스플레이부(720)의 상기 제 1 기판 및 제 2 기판 사이에 제 2 감지 전극, 제 2 터치 전극이 형성될 수 있다. 상술한 구조로 터치 디바이스를 제조하는 경우, 공정을 단순화 하고, 비용을 절감할 수 있다.
도 10 내지 도 13은 본 발명의 다양한 실시예에 따른 터치 패널이 적용된 예를 나타낸 그림이다.
도 10은 본 발명의 터치 패널이 모바일 디바이스에 적용된 것이다. 모바일 디바이스의 디스플레이 부분에 상술한 터치 패널이 적용될 수 있다.
도 11은 모바일 디바이스 중에서도 곡면 디스플레이를 가지는 모바일 디바이스를 나타낸 것이다. 본 실시예는 기판이 부분적으로 곡면을 가지면서 휘어진 터치 패널이 적용된 것이다. 일 예로 기판이 부분적으로는 평면을 가지고, 부분적으로는 곡면을 가지면서 휘어진 형태의 터치 패널일 수 있다. 상세하게는 기판의 끝단이 곡면을 가지면서 휘어지거나 Random한 곡률을 포함한 표면을 가지며 휘어지거나 구부러질 수 있다. 또는 상기 기판 자체가 유연한 특성을 가지는 플렉서블(flexible) 기판일 수 있다. 그 외에도 상기 기판은 커브드(curved) 또는 벤디드(bended) 기판일 수 있다. 즉, 상기 기판을 포함하는 터치 패널도 플렉서블, 커브드 또는 벤디드 특성을 가지도록 형성될 수 있다. 이로 인해, 실시예에 따른 터치 패널이 적용된 모바일 디바이스는 휴대가 용이하며, 다양한 디자인으로 변경이 가능할 수 있다.
도 12는 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 터치 패널이 연결 수단에 의해 다른 장치에 탈부착 가능하도록 형성된 것이다. 예를 들어 차량용 내비게이션 장치에 본 발명의 터치 패널이 적용되고 차량에 탈착하여 사용할 수 있다.
도 13은 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 터치 패널을 통해 차량용 디스플레이가 구현된 예이다. 차량의 대쉬 보드 및 전면 조작부가 상술한 터치 패널에 의해 구현될 수 있다.
본 발명의 실시예들은 예시의 목적을 위해 개시된 것으로 본 발명이 속한 기술 분야의 통상의 지식을 가진 자가 본 발명의 기술 사상 범위 내에서 수정, 변경, 부가가 가능한 부분까지 본 특허청구범위에 속하는 것으로 보아야 할 것이다.

Claims (14)

  1. 유효 영역 및 비유효 영역을 가지는 기판;
    상기 기판 상의 유효 영역에 형성되는 감지 전극 및 터치 전극;
    상기 기판 상의 비유효 영역에 형성되며, 상기 감지 전극과 연결되는 배선 전극;
    상기 기판 상의 비유효 영역에 형성되며, 상기 터치 전극과 연결되는 터치 배선 전극; 및
    상기 기판 상의 비유효 영역에 형성되는 코일부;
    를 포함하는 터치 패널
  2. 청구항 1에 있어서,
    상기 감지 전극, 터치 전극, 배선 전극, 터치 배선 전극 및 코일부 중 적어도 어느 하나는 전도성 패턴을 가지는 터치 패널
  3. 청구항 2에 있어서,
    상기 전도성 패턴은 메쉬 선과 메쉬 개구부를 포함하는 터치 패널
  4. 청구항 1에 있어서, 상기 기판은
    제 1 감지 전극 및 제 1 터치 전극이 형성되는 제 1 기판; 및
    제 2 감지 전극 및 제 2 터치 전극이 형성되는 제 2 기판;
    을 포함하는 터치 패널
  5. 청구항 4에 있어서,
    비유효 영역에 더미층이 형성된 커버 기판;
    을 더 포함하는 터치 패널
  6. 청구항 4에 있어서,
    상기 제 1 기판의 비유효 영역에 더미층이 형성되고,
    상기 배선 전극 또는 상기 터치 배선 전극은 상기 더미층 상부에 형성되는 터치 패널
  7. 청구항 6에 있어서,
    상기 코일부는 상기 더미층의 하부에 형성되거나 상기 더미층의 상부에서 상기 배선 전극 및 터치 배선 전극과 중첩하지 않도록 형성되는 터치 패널
  8. 청구항 1에 있어서,
    상기 기판의 일면에는 제 1 감지 전극 및 제 1 터치 전극이 형성되고, 타면에는 제 2 감지 전극 및 제 2 터치 전극이 형성되는 터치 패널
  9. 청구항 1에 있어서,
    상기 감지 전극, 상기 터치 전극 및 상기 코일부는 동일한 전극 재료로 형성되는 터치 패널
  10. 청구항 1에 있어서,
    상기 코일부의 높이는 상기 감지 전극 또는 상기 터치 전극과 동일한 터치 패널
  11. 청구항 1에 있어서,
    상기 코일부의 폭은 상기 감지 전극 또는 상기 터치 전극의 폭보다 큰 터치 패널
  12. 청구항 4에 있어서, 상기 코일부는
    상기 제 1 기판 상에서 상기 제 1 감지 전극 및 제 1 터치 전극이 형성된 면, 또는 상기 제 2 기판 상에서 상기 제 2 감지 전극 및 제 2 터치 전극이 형성된 면 중 적어도 하나에 형성되는 터치 패널
  13. 청구항 1에 있어서,
    상기 기판과 결합하고, 비유효 영역에 코일부가 형성된 코일 기판;
    을 더 포함하는 터치 패널
  14. 청구항 1에 있어서,
    상기 코일부는 복수의 루프로 형성되는 터치 패널
