Description

DESCRIPTION
A HANGER BRACKET
Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a hanger bracket which enables exhaust gas reducer to be connected to the chassis.
Background of the Invention
Catalysts are used in high power truck engines in order to safely transfer nitrogen oxide to the outer environment. These catalysts which increase or decrease the speed of a chemical reaction are among the exhaust gas reducers. The said exhaust gas reducer is mounted to the chassis via a bracket. In the mounting used nowadays, when the exhaust gas reducer is lightweight, no bracket is required and the reducer is directly mounted to the chassis via a bolt. In cases where use of the bracket is required, the reducer is mounted from top towards bottom and for this reason there is a requirement of having the upper part (chassis-top equipment) of the system empty. Furthermore, when starting the mounting, a lifter is required to uplift the exhaust gas reducer. The process of uplifting the exhaust gas reducer in order to mount it to the chassis brings along the problem of carrying a heavy mass upwards in terms of serviceability, and additionally requires lifting the vehicle upper equipment and this causes loss of time and power during mounting and service activities.
The Japanese patent document no. JP2011 131659 (A), an application known in the state of the art, discloses a mounting structure of an exhaust gas emission control device for vehicles. There is a support pipe provided on an upper surface of the device and this pipe is mounted to the vehicle frame. Additionally a lateral swing preventing bracket is mounted between the vehicle frame and the exhaust pipe.
Summary of the Invention
The objective of the present invention is to provide a hanger bracket which enables the processes to be completed rapidly thanks to the fact that it is mounted from the side.
Another objective of the present invention is to provide a hanger bracket which does not require any empty area over the mounting region as it is not mounted from the top, in other words, does not require empty area before mounting.
A further objective of the present invention is to provide a hanger bracket, on which service operations can be carried out without having to dismantle and mount the vehicle upper structure during dismantling/mounting process at the service.
Another objective of the present invention is to provide a hanger bracket which provides the facility of mounting by a single operator.
Detailed Description of the Invention
A hanger bracket developed to fulfill the objective of the present invention is illustrated in the accompanying figures, in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the hanger bracket.

Figure 3 is a perspective view of the connecting member. The components shown in the figures are each given reference numbers as follows:

The hanger bracket (1) which enables the exhaust gas reducer to be mounted to the chassis basically comprises
at least one main body (2) which is positioned on the chassis such that one face thereof will contact the chassis,
at least one holder (3) which is mounted in a hollow provided in the main body (2) and which can be easily removed from there when preferred, at least one connecting member (4) which enables to fix the holder (3) within the main body (2) where it is positioned against the forces coming from any direction,
at least one plate (5) which is mounted to the holder (3) and holds the exhaust gas reducer.
In the hanger bracket (1) provided in one embodiment of the invention, there is a main body (2). The main body (2) is positioned preferably parallel to the chassis and such that one face thereof will contact the chassis. The main body (2) is fixed to the chassis by means of a chassis hole (6) through which a bolt is passed and which thus enables the main body (2) to remain fixed on the chassis. Geometry of the main body (2) is preferably in the form of a U profile. The holder (3) is fitted in the center of this U geometry. Geometry of the holder (3) is preferably in the shape of a rectangular prism. After it is positioned in the main body (2), the holder (3) is enabled to remain fixed by means of the connecting member (4) mounted to the upper part of the main body (2). After the connecting member (4) is mounted to the main body (2), there is a protrusion (11) on the side of the connecting member (4) that faces the main body (2). Geometry of the said protrusion (1 1) is preferably in the form of a semi-cylinder. When the connecting member (4) is fully fitted to the main body (2), the said protrusion (1 1) fits into the recess (10) provided on one end of the holder (3). Thanks to the fact that the protrusion (1 1) fits into the recess (10), the holder (3) is positioned to be fixed within the main body (2) and cannot change its position under the influence of the forces coming from any direction. In addition to the recess (10), the holder (3) includes separate extensions (9), which are at the end thereof near the recess (10), and which are preferably positioned at an angle of a hundred and eighty degrees from each other. The said extensions (9) can be fitted into the slot (7), which is preferably positioned on the upper part of the main body (2), and which is drilled wide enough to allow the extensions (9) to fit therein. When the extension (9) is fitted into the slot (7), the holder (3), which is exposed to bending and lateral forces, does not get displaced from the place that it is positioned even if the connecting member (4) is removed from the upper part of the holder (3). There is a plurality of mounting holes (8) on the holder (3) and also on the plate (5). The holder (3) and the plate (5) are fixed to each other by means of a bolt passed through each of these mounting holes (8). Additionally, a plurality of fixing holes (12) are drilled on the main body (2) and the connecting member (4) in order to fix the connecting member (4) to the main body (2). The connecting member (4) is fixed to the main body (2) by means of a plurality of bolts fitted into these fixing holes (12). There is an inclined surface (13) provided on the lower part of the region of the main body (2) where the holder (3) is placed. Thanks to such positioning of the inclined surface (13), when the holder (3) is placed inside the main body (2), the lateral forces applied on the holder (3) are received by the said inclined surface (13) and this way, lateral movement of the holder (3) is prevented.
The hanger bracket (1) is mounted on the chassis as follows. Holes are drilled on a preferred place on the vehicle chassis for mounting the main body (2). Then, the main body (2) is fixed to the chassis by passing bolts through the chassis holes (6) located on the main body (2) and the holes located on the chassis. Afterwards, the holder (3), whose plate (5) is fixed via the mounting holes (8), is placed into the main body (2). When the holder (3) is placed into the main body (2), the extension (9) is also fitted into the slot (7). This way, the bending forces and also the lateral forces coming to the holder (3) prevent the holder (3) from moving from the place that it is positioned. After the holder (3) is positioned in its place, the connecting member (4) is fixed to the main body (2) by means of bolts fitted into the fixing holes (12). During fixing, the protrusion (11) exactly fits into the recess (10). Thanks to the fact that the protrusion (1 1) exactly fits into the recess (10); the holder (3) is fixed against forces coming from all directions, and does not in any way move and get displaced from its position.
In cases where service operation is preferred to be performed on the hanger bracket (1), the connecting member (4) is disconnected from the main body (2) by removing the bolts in the fixing holes (12). However after this disconnection, the holder (3) remains fixed as it is positioned since the extensions (9) are inside the slots (7). The holder (3) can be removed sideways from the place that it is positioned only when the extensions (9) are removed from the slots (7) (lifting the holder (3) slightly). Thus, no empty space is required at the upper part of the hanger bracket (1) for removing the exhaust gas reducer.
