The chain 20 includes a plurality of segments 22 linked to one another via interlink members 24. Each segment 22 includes two rollers 26 mounted thereon via roller bearings 28 to support the load of the pallet 16 being mounted on a tooth top surface 30, The top surface 30 has a plurality of teeth 32 used to slightly anchor to the bottom surface 34 of the pallet 16 to prevent sliding of the pallet relative to the chain segments 22. Each interlink member 24 carries four lateral guides 36 used to roll into corresponding recesses 38 on the rail 18 to guide the adjacent segments 22 along the rail 18. Each interlink member 24 is rotatably mounted onto a roller axis of each adjacent segment 22, and carries the guides 36 between the roller axes. In addition to the guides 36, each interlink member 24 carries four wheels 42 freely rotatably mounted onto a roller axis of each adjacent segment 22 to support the chain 20 when it is up-side-down inside the rail 14.
[0036] The first segment 22' of each rail 14 typically carries an abutment tab 40 to abuttlngly receive the first pallet there against. Pallet Displacement System
[0037] Referring to Figs. 6 and 7, there Is shown a pallet displacement system 50 in accordance with an illustrative embodiment of the present disclosure. The pallet displacement system 50 generally comprises a push plate 52 connected to a displacement mechanism 56 positioned inside a displacement guide 54 and a transmission mechanism 57 actuated by the displacement mechanism 56. In the Illustrative embodiment, the transmission mechanism 57 Is in the form of a pinion gear 58 connected to a first set of gears 60 in a ratchet configuration and a shaft 66 having thereon a second set of gears 64 operatively connected to the first set of gears 60 via transmission chain 62 and a set of chain gears 68. The gears 68 in turn move the chain 20 along the rail 18 for displacing an overlaying pallet 16.
[0038] Referring now to Fig. 8, there ie shown a cross section of the displacement guide 54, which comprises a channel 80 in which the displacement mechanism 56 moves linearly.
