- the user equipment 400 In S3, the user equipment 400 generates a BSR from the buffer size stored in the first memory 422. For example, the user equipment 400 calculates a BSR index value obtained from the stored buffer size, and generates this as a BSR.
- the user equipment 400 transmits the BSR to the base station 500.
- the base station 500 estimates the uplink buffer size (UL Buffer Size) of the user equipment 400 based on the received BSR.
- UL Buffer Size uplink buffer size
- the base station 500 stores the estimated buffer size in the second memory 522 for each LCG.
- base station 500 transmits uplink grant information (UL-Grant) to user equipment 400 as permission information based on the estimated buffer size.
- uplink grant information (UL-Grant)
- the base station 500 updates the estimated buffer size in the second memory 522 by subtracting the size actually allocated by UL-Grant from the estimated buffer size.
- the user equipment 400 transmits uplink data based on the resource allocation information indicated (identified) by the permission information (UL-Grant) received from the base station 500. Note that the timings of S7 and S8 may be reversed.
- the BSR may be, for example, any of periodic BSR (Periodic BSR), normal regular BSR (Regular BSR), and padding BSR (Padding BSR). In the following, details regarding Periodic BSR and Regular BSR will be given.
- Periodic BSR is sent when there is uplink data to send when the periodic BSR timer expires.
- periodicBSR-Timer is restarted at the timing when UL-Grant is allocated and BSR is allocated. For this reason, as long as UL-Grant continues to be allocated, Periodic BSR is transmitted in a period of periodicBSR-Timer length.
- Regular BSR is transmitted in the following processing flow (1) to (3). (1) In the following cases A) and B) and C), the user equipment 400 transmits a scheduling request (SR: Scheduling Request) to the base station 500.
- SR Scheduling Request
- the base station 500 transmits permission information (UL-Grant) for sending Regular BSR to the user equipment 400.
- the user equipment 400 transmits a Regular BSR.
- retxBSR-Timer restarts at the timing when UL-Grant is assigned and BSR is assigned. For this reason, the SR necessary for Regular BSR transmission is transmitted in the shortest retxBSR-Timer length period.
- the retxBSR-Timer is used to detect that the BSR has not been transmitted for a certain period.
- the periodicBSR-Timer length and the retxBSR-Timer length are set as follows. Since periodicBSR-Timer ⁇ retxBSR-Timer is set, Periodic BSR transmission cycle ⁇ SR is the shortest possible transmission period. The range of periodicBSR-Timer is 5 [ms] to 2560 [ms]. -The range of retxBSR-Timer is 320 [ms] to 10240 [ms].
- the timer 440 can be composed of at least one of periodicBSR-Timer and retxBSR-Timer.
- the buffer 430 of the user equipment 400 buffers uplink data of “x1” as the data amount (buffer size).
- the buffer size is “x1”
- the index value of the BSR corresponding to “x1” is “a”.
- the base station 500 continues to allocate UL-Grant (UL-Grant continues to be transmitted) until the user equipment 400 notifies the buffer size “zero”.
- the base station 500 stops UL-Grant allocation. In this way, when the base station 500 and the user equipment 400 agree with each other about the uplink buffer size of the buffer 430, the base station 500 stops the UL-Grant assignment, and thereby the unnecessary UL-Grant is allocated. Is prevented from being transmitted.
- the base station 500 continues to assign UL-Grant until the user equipment 400 notifies the buffer size “zero”.
- the base station 500 performs UL-Grant allocation according to the buffer size.
- the user equipment 400 transmits a BSR indicating “a” as the index value of the BSR corresponding to the buffer size “x1” to the base station 500.
- the base station 500 estimates that the buffer size of the buffer 430 of the user equipment 400 is “x2” based on the received BSR.
- the base station 500 When the base station 500 is a resource that can be allocated to the user equipment 400 and the transmittable data size is “y1” (where “y1” is smaller than “x2”), the user The permission information (UL-Grant) indicating that the data size assigned to the device 400 is “y1” is transmitted. In addition, the base station 500 subtracts “y1” from the estimated buffer size, and updates the estimated buffer size to “x2-y1”.
- the user equipment 400 transmits uplink data to the base station 500 based on the information indicated by UL-Grant.
- the above operations (1) to (4) are repeated until the estimated buffer size in the base station 500 becomes “0”.
- the above (1) and (2) are operations performed at the transmission / reception timing of BSR (Periodic, Regular, and Padding BSR).
- BSR Periodic, Regular, and Padding BSR
- the base station 500 transmits UL-Grant for BSR to the user equipment 400 continuously every subframe or at a constant cycle.
- the UL-Grant indicates that the BSR can be transmitted and the allocation size is as small as possible.
- the user equipment 400 transmits a BSR based on the information notified by the UL-Grant.
- the base station 500 stops UL-Grant allocation.
- the base station 500 may determine that the amount of uplink data buffered in the user equipment 400 is zero or substantially zero. Based on this determination, UL-Grant assignment may be stopped.
- the user equipment transmits a buffer status report (BSR) to the base station. For this reason, even if it is a period until the buffer size of the user equipment is notified to the base station, the permission notification is continuously transmitted. Therefore, even if a mismatch occurs in the recognition of the uplink buffer size of the user equipment between the base station and the user equipment, the waiting time until UL-Grant allocation is eliminated (or shortened). The retention of the uplink data of the user equipment can be suppressed.
- BSR buffer status report
- the base station stops UL-Grant allocation based on this notification. That is, based on this notification, the base station can stop UL-Grant allocation without estimating the uplink buffer size of the user equipment. As a result, unnecessary UL-Grant assignment by the base station is prevented.
- the case of waiting until it is recognized that uplink data to be transmitted exists in the buffer of the user equipment (for example, the case of waiting until retxBSR-Timer expires for UL-Data transmission) is prevented. it can. That is, the base station can allocate resources to the user equipment without waiting time.
- the base station 500 transmits the BSR to the user equipment 400 when the following condition is satisfied.
- Restrict the transmission of UL-Grant to send.
- the UL-Grant transmission may be stopped, or the UL-Grant transmission frequency per predetermined time may be limited.
- the above-mentioned condition is when the UL-Grant for BSR is DTX (Discontinuous Transmission) determination a predetermined number of times. That is, for example, when the user equipment 400 cannot receive the UL-Grant a predetermined number of times, or when the UL-Grant is overlooked.
- DTX Continuous Transmission
- the base station 500 transmits the UL-Grant multiple times, one of the causes of the DTX determination in the user equipment 400 is that the estimated buffer size in the base station 500 becomes “zero” and then the user equipment 400 May move to the vicinity of the cell edge, and power necessary for recognizing UL-Grant transmitted from the base station 500 cannot be secured. In such a case, even if UL-Grant continues to be transmitted, it is unlikely that normal processing can be performed.
- the user equipment reports the amount of uplink data (UL Buffer amount) buffered in the uplink buffer to the eNB. (report).
- UL Buffer amount the amount of uplink data buffered in the uplink buffer
- the UL buffer amount is indicated by an index value.
- a buffer status report (BSR: [Buffer Status] Report) including this index value is reported from the user equipment to the eNB. Further, the eNB receives this BSR.
- the index value of BSR indicates that the amount of uplink data is in a range from a certain value to a certain value.
- the eNB estimates the buffer amount actually buffered in the UE buffer from this index value.
- the eNB allocates radio resources to the UE using UL-Grant. eNB subtracts the allocated size from the estimated buffer amount, and updates the value of the estimated buffer amount.
- the eNB and the UE do not agree with each other regarding the recognition regarding the UL Buffer amount that the actual UE has and the UL Buffer amount estimated by the eNB. For example, when the eNB transmits a UL-Grant corresponding to the estimated Buffer Size, the eNB may consider that there is no UL Buffer (zero). In this case, even if there is uplink data that should actually be sent to the UE's UL Buffer, the eNB will send the UE the UL-Grant required to transmit all of the UL Buffer that the UE has. May not be assigned. This is because eNB assumes that there is no UL buffer and stops UL-Grant transmission.
- the radio resource for this uplink data may not be allocated even though there is uplink data to be transmitted to the UE UL buffer. There is sex. The inventor has discovered this possibility.
- the base station When the regular BSR is transmitted to the base station after the retxBSR-Timer of the user equipment expires, the base station recognizes that there is uplink data to be transmitted in the UE buffer. However, since the time before the retx BSR-Timer expires is a time after a certain time has elapsed since the time when the UL-Grant was last assigned, a waiting time may occur before the Regular BSR is transmitted. As a result, there may be a delay until the UL-Grant assignment. Specifically, this delay can occur in the following cases. (1) New data timing mistake. The first case is when UL Data arrives in the buffer of the user equipment immediately after the user equipment transmits the BSR. (2) Misrecognition.
- the user equipment could not receive the UL-Grant sent by the base station, and the user equipment could not actually send UL Data, but the base station sent from the user equipment. This is a case of misrecognition. (3) Misunderstanding due to the calculation method between the user equipment and the base station.
- the base station has not estimated the buffer size considering the data header or MAC control element in the PDCP layer, RLC layer or MAC layer included in UL Data, and the uplink buffer size of the user equipment Is calculated based on the buffer size in the PDCP or RLC layer.
- the wireless communication systems targeted by the above-described embodiments are 3GPP LTE (Long Term Evolution), 3GPP W-CDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access), GSM (registered trademark) (Global System for Mobile communications), WiMAX (Worldwide interoperability). for Microwave Access), but is not limited to these.

Abstract
Description
基地局500は、LTEに関する基地局(eNBまたはeNodeB(evolved Node B))である。
ここで、バッファ状態報告の一例として示されたBSR(Buffer Status Report)の詳細が示される。
<Regular BSR>
Regular BSR
C)UL-Grant
