  • Joints where the contact pressure is uneven are more susceptible to fretting. At the areas of low contact pressure, the contact surfaces of the joint slide more easily in relation to each other, and this causes fretting.
  • Bolt joints are a typical example of joints with uneven contact pressure. The tension of a bolt causes deformation of the clamped parts around the bolt holes.
  • each counterweight is typically attached to the crankshaft with two stud bolts.
  • the crankshaft is provided with threaded blind holes for the stud bolts and each counterweight is provided with corresponding through holes.
  • One end of each stud bolt is inserted into a hole of the crankshaft and engaged with the internal thread of the hole.
  • the stud bolts are then arranged into the bolt holes of the counterweight and a nut is tightened around the second end of each stud bolt.
  • bolt joints are the joints between the engine block and brackets for different parts to be joined to the engine, such as pumps, turbo chargers etc.
  • Fretting damage is one problem relating to crankshafts of piston engines.
  • Main reason for the fretting damage is too low contact pressure on contact surface between crankshaft and counter weights, which cannot resist the high shear stresses caused by counter weight vibrations.
  • Globally contact pressure is enough to resist shear forces but contact pressure and shear stresses are not evenly distributed to whole contact surface and there are areas on the contact surface where contact pressure is very low but shear stress amplitude can be high.
  • An object of the present invention is to provide a system of to each other join- able parts, in which the problems described above, in particular relating to fretting, are eliminated or at least minimized.
  • One particular object of the invention is to create a crankshaft-counterweight system with an improved crankshaft - counterweight contact surface.

  • Main journal fillet degreases the stiffness at the corner of the contact surface. This is a contact area where fretting damage is very likely to occur due to low contact pressure. Threads close to contact surface causes contact pressure concentration around the bolt holes.

Abstract

La présente invention concerne un système de deux pièces (10, 12) pouvant être assemblées l'une avec l'autre, lesdites pièces (10, 12) étant opposées l'une par rapport à l'autre et assemblées l'une avec l'autre par au moins un assemblage boulonné comprenant un boulon situé dans un trou de boulon respectif, de sorte qu'une surface de contact pièce-pièce soit formée. Sur au moins une surface de l'une (10) des pièces (10, 12), est formée au moins une saillie circulaire (22 ; 22A, 22B) qui s'étend au moins partiellement autour de l'assemblage, la ou les saillies circulaires formant une zone de contact de la surface de contact pièce-pièce.
