Abstract
Die Erfindung betrifft ein elektrooptisches Display mit einer transparenten Deckscheibe, wobei ein Abstand zwischen dem elektrooptischen Display und der transparenten Deckscheibe mittels Abstandshaltern eingestellt ist und so ein Zwischenraum vorhanden ist und der Zwischenraum mit einer Bondingmasse ausgefüllt ist, wodurch die Abstandshalter gedruckt sind.

Beschreibung
Elektrooptisches Display mit einer transparenten Deckscheibe Die Erfindung betrifft ein elektrooptisches Display mit einer transparenten Deckscheibe. Im Stand der Technik sind derartige Displays bekannt, wobei ein Abstand zwischen dem elektroop- tischen Display und der transparenten Deckscheibe mittels Ab¬ standshaltern eingestellt ist, und so ein Zwischenraum vorhanden ist, und der Zwischenraum mit einer Bondingmasse ausgefüllt ist. Durch diese zusätzliche transparente Deckscheibe und die zu¬ sätzliche Verklebung wird zum einen das elektrooptische Display mechanisch geschützt. Weiterhin werden durch die Ver¬ klebung die optischen Eigenschaften des elektrooptischen Dis- plays verbessert. Bei der Auswahl eines geeigneten Klebers wird dabei vorzugsweise darauf geachtet, dass die optischen Eigen¬ schaften, wie beispielsweise der Brechnungsindex der Bonding¬ masse, derart ausgewählt sind, dass ein Übergang zwischen dem elektrooptischen Display und der transparenten Deckscheibe nicht oder nur kaum wahrnehmbar ist. Im Stand der Technik ist es bekannt, die Abstandshalter als spritzgegossene Bauteile aus¬ zuführen oder zwischen die transparente Deckscheibe und das elektrooptische Display Kugeln mit einem definierten Durchmesser anzuordnen und so den Abstand zwischen dem elektrooptischen Display und der transparenten Deckscheibe einzustellen. Durch Toleranzen der spritzgegossenen Abstandshalter oder der Kugeln konnte es zu einer Schieflage der aufzusetzenden transparenten Deckscheibe oder bei einer mangelnden Benetzung zu störenden Luftblasen kommen. Aufgabe der Erfindung ist es daher, ein elektrooptisches Display mit einer transparenten Deckscheibe anzugeben, wobei ein Abstand zwischen dem elektrooptischen Display und der transparenten Deckscheibe mittels Abstands¬ haltern eingestellt ist und so ein Zwischenraum vorhanden ist und der Zwischenraum mit einer Bondingmasse ausgefüllt ist, bei der die eine Schräglage oder eine unzureichende Befüllung mit der Bondingmasse vermieden wird. Diese Aufgabe wird dadurch gelöst, dass die Abstandshalter gedruckt sind. Durch diesen Druck kann
ein besonders exakter Abstand eingestellt werden. Weiterhin ist die Toleranz zwischen den einzelnen gedruckten Abstandshaltern sehr gering, so dass der Abstand zwischen dem elektrooptischen Display und der transparenten Deckscheibe sehr gering, bei- spielsweise 0,4 mm, gewählt werden kann. Besonders einfach kann der Druck ausgeführt werden, wenn die Abstandshalter auf die transparente Deckscheibe gedruckt sind. Eine besonders optisch ansprechende Ausführung wird dadurch realisiert, dass die transparente Deckscheibe auf ihre einem Beobachter entgegen- gesetzten Seite mit einem transparenten Rahmen bedruckt ist, und auf diesen Rahmen dann die transparenten Abstandshalter gedruckt werden. Hierdurch werden die Abstandshalter für einen Betrachter des elektrooptischen Displays und der transparenten Deckscheibe nicht wahrnehmbar.
Wenn die Abstandhalter aus einer blindenschrifttauglichen Druckfarbe bestehen, können die Abstandshalter mit nur einem einzigen Druck hergestellt werden. Bei Verwendung einer anderen Druckfarbe können die Abstandshalter auch durch Schablonendruck oder durch Siebdruck aufgebracht sein.
Besonders dauerhaft ist das elektrooptische Display mit einer transparenten Deckscheibe, wenn das elektrooptische Display als Flüssigkristalldisplay ausgestaltet ist.
Wenn das elektrooptische Display als elektrolumines zierendes Display oder als organisches Leuchtdiodendisplay ausgestaltet ist, ist eine separate Beleuchtung des elektrooptischen Displays nicht erforderlich.
Besonders einfach kann die transparente Deckscheibe hergestellt werden, wenn sie aus Kunststoff besteht. Dieser Kunststoff kann beispielsweise Polymethylmethacrylat (PMMA) , Polycarbonat (PC) oder Polyethylen (PE) sein.
Wenn die transparente Deckscheibe aus Glas besteht, ist sie besonders dauerhaft, da Glas in der Regel härter als Kunststoff ist und somit die Deckscheibe weniger kratzempfindlich ist. Die Erfindung wird nachfolgend anhand der Figuren näher be¬ schrieben. Es zeigen: eine Aufsicht auf ein Ausführungsbeispiel eines erfindungsgemäßen elektrooptischen Displays, einen Schnitt durch das Ausführungsbeispiel des er¬ findungsgemäßen elektrooptischen Displays mit einer transparenten Deckscheibe aus Figur 1 und ein Auge eines möglichen Beobachters des elektrooptischen Displays mit einer transparenten Deckscheibe.
In Figur 1 erkennt man eine transparente Deckscheibe 1, einen gedruckten Rahmen 2 und ein elektrooptisches Display 3, welches unterhalb der transparenten Deckscheibe 1 angeordnet ist.
In Figur 2 erkennt man die transparente Deckscheibe 1, den gedruckten Rahmen 2, das elektrooptische Display 3, gedruckte Abstandshalter 4, einen externen Rahmen 5 und Lichtquellen 6. Das elektrooptische Display 3 ist im Ausführungsbeispiel als Flüssigkristalldisplay ausgeführt, von dem nur zwei Substrate 3a und 3b dargestellt sind, zwischen denen sich ein Flüssigkristall 3c befindet. Die sonstigen für ein Flüssigkristalldisplay er¬ forderlichen Bauteile sind der besseren Klarheit wegen nicht dargestellt. Die transparente Deckscheibe 1 und die Substrate 3a, 3b können aus Glas oder einem transparenten Kunststoff her¬ gestellt sein. Die transparente Deckscheibe 1 ist auf ihre einem Beobachter abgewandten Seite mit dem Rahmen 2 bedruckt. Auf dem Rahmen 2 sind die Abstandshalter 4 gedruckt, so dass sie nicht von einem Beobachter des elektrooptischen Displays wahrgenommen werden können. Die Lichtquellen 6 durchleuchten das elektro- optische Display 3, so dass Informationen des elektrooptischen Displays 3 auch im Dunkeln für den Beobachter wahrnehmbar sind.
Hierbei gelangen die Lichtstrahlen von den Lichtquellen 6 durch das elektrooptische Display 3, die Bondingmasse 7 und die transparente Deckscheibe 1 zu dem Auge E eines Beobachters. Der externe Rahmen 5 ist auf den gedruckten Rahmen 2 aufgesetzt und umschließt das elektrooptische Display 3 zumindest an dessen Seiten. Das Display 3 kann auch beispielsweise als elektro- lumineszierendes Display oder als Display bestehend aus or¬ ganischen Leuchtdioden ausgestaltet sein. Dann sind zusätzliche Lichtquellen nicht erforderlich. Wenn das elektrooptische Display als elektrolumineszierendes Display bestehend aus organischen Leuchtdioden ausgestaltet ist, ist die oberste Schicht des elektrooptischen Displays über die Bondingmasse mit der transparenten Deckscheibe verbunden, wobei ebenfalls ge- druckte Abstandshalter den Abstand zwischen der obersten Schicht des elektrooptischen Displays und der transparenten Deckscheibe einstellen .
Der externe Rahmen 5 kann auch beispielsweise direkt auf die transparente Deckscheibe 1 aufgesetzt sein. Dann ist er aber von einem Auge eines Beobachters wahrnehmbar, so dass die optische Anmutung des elektrooptischen Displays mit der transparenten Deckscheibe nicht so hochwertig erscheint. Die Größenverhältnisse der einzelnen dargestellten Bauteile zueinander entsprechen nicht der Realität, sind aber wegen der besseren Wahrnehmbarkeit der einzelnen Bauteile so gewählt.
Claims
Elektrooptisches Display (3, 3a, 3b, 3c) mit einer transparenten Deckscheibe (1), wobei ein Abstand zwischen dem elektrooptischen Display (3, 3a) und der transparenten Deckscheibe (1) mittels Abstandshaltern (4) eingestellt ist und so ein Zwischenraum vorhanden ist und der Zwischenraum mit einer Bondingmasse (7) ausgefüllt ist, d a d u r c h g e k e n n z e i c h n e t , dass die Abstandshalter (4) gedruckt sind.
Elektrooptisches Display (3, 3a, 3b, 3c) mit einer transparenten Deckscheibe (1) nach Patentanspruch 1, d a d u r c h g e k e n n z e i c h n e t , dass die Ab¬ standshalter (4) auf die transparente Deckscheibe (1) gedruckt sind.
Elektrooptisches Display (3, 3a, 3b, 3c) mit einer transparenten Deckscheibe (1) nach Patentanspruch 1, d a d u r c h g e k e n n z e i c h n e t , dass die Ab¬ standshalter (4) auf eine Bedruckung der transparenten Deckscheibe (1) gedruckt sind.
Elektrooptisches Display (3, 3a, 3b, 3c) mit einer transparenten Deckscheibe (1) nach Patentanspruch 3, d a d u r c h g e k e n n z e i c h n e t , dass die Be¬ druckung der transparenten Deckscheibe (1) als undurch¬ sichtiger Rahmen um einen Sichtbereich des elektrooptischen Displays (3, 3a, 3b, 3c) ausgeführt ist.
Elektrooptisches Display (3, 3a, 3b, 3c) mit einer transparenten Deckscheibe (1) nach einem der vorstehenden Patentansprüche, d a d u r c h g e k e n n z e i c h ¬ n e t , dass die Abstandshalter (4) aus einer blinden- schrifttauglichen Druckfarbe besteht.
Elektrooptisches Display (3, 3a, 3b, 3c) mit einer transparenten Deckscheibe (1) nach einem der vorstehenden Patentansprüche, d a d u r c h g e k e n n z e i c h ¬ n e t , dass die Abstandshalter (4) durch Schablonendruck aufgebracht sind.
Elektrooptisches Display (3, 3a, 3b, 3c) mit einer transparenten Deckscheibe (1) nach einem der vorstehenden Patentansprüche 1 bis 5, d a d u r c h g e k e n n ¬ z e i c h n e t , dass die Abstandshalter (4) durch Sieb¬ druck aufgebracht sind.
Elektrooptisches Display (3, 3a, 3b, 3c) mit einer transparenten Deckscheibe (1) nach einem der vorstehenden Patentansprüche, d a d u r c h g e k e n n z e i c h ¬ n e t , dass das elektrooptische Display (3, 3a, 3b, 3c) als Flüssigkristalldisplay ausgestaltet ist.
Elektrooptisches Display (3) mit einer transparenten Deckscheibe (1) nach einem der vorstehenden Patentansprüche 1 bis 7, d a d u r c h g e k e n n z e i c h n e t , dass das elektrooptische Display (3) als elektrolumineszie- rendes Display ausgestaltet ist.
Elektrooptisches Display (3) mit einer transparenten Deckscheibe (1) nach einem der vorstehenden Patentansprüche 1 bis 7, d a d u r c h g e k e n n z e i c h n e t , dass das elektrooptische Display (3) als organisches Leucht¬ dioden-Display (OLED) ausgestaltet ist.
Elektrooptisches Display (3, 3a, 3b, 3c) mit einer transparenten Deckscheibe (1) nach einem der vorstehenden Patentansprüche, d a d u r c h g e k e n n z e i c h ¬ n e t , dass die transparente Deckscheibe (1) aus Kunst¬ stoff besteht.
12. Elektrooptisches Display (3, 3a, 3b, 3c) mit einer transparenten Deckscheibe (1) nach Patentanspruch 11, d a d u r c h g e k e n n z e i c h n e t , dass die transparente Deckscheibe (1) aus Polymethylmethacrylat (PMMA) , Polycarbonat (PC) oder Polyethylen (PE) besteht.
13. Elektrooptisches Display (3, 3a, 3b, 3c) mit einer
transparenten Deckscheibe (1) nach einem der vorstehenden Patentansprüche 1 bis 10, d a d u r c h g e k e n n ¬ z e i c h n e t , dass die transparente Deckscheibe (1) aus Glas besteht.
