Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a laundry drying appliance comprising a condensate water reservoir.
  • the present invention more specifically relates to a laundry treatment appliance with a condensate water reservoir with a condensate water lint disintegration unit.
  • a heat pump laundry dryer i.e. a drier having a condensing unit, typically has a closed cycle drying process.
  • the heat pump used for drying the laundry is composed of the compressor that moves the refrigerant fluid and heat sinks named as evaporator and condenser.
  • the laundry-drying process is performed by passing hot and dry air over the laundry.
  • the condenser disposed in the heat pump functions as a heater and the evaporator functions as a condenser.
  • Humid air leaving the laundry leaves its moisture while passing over the evaporator that works as the condenser and warms while passing over the condenser that works as the heater. Therefore, the process air is heated while passing from the condenser, delivered onto the laundry as being heated and after dehumidifying the laundry, leaves its humidity while passing over the evaporator.
  • the evaporator is composed of a refrigerant tube in serpentine form and fins arranged on the refrigerant tube.
  • the refrigerant that is delivered from the compressor to the condenser with increased pressure and temperature enters the evaporator by passing through the capillary tube, i.e. the expansion valve with decreased pressure.
  • Laundry treatment appliances with air-cooled condensers carry out the condensation process by using the ambient air in the drying process such that the thermal interaction between the cooling air and the closed cycle air having separate cycles is in question.
  • the cooling air is passed onto the condenser by means of a fan and thus, the moisture in the cycle air is condensed by the condenser that is being cooled.
  • air laden with moisture that comes from over the laundry passes through a processing air channel and is hereby condensed while the latter is being cooled by means of the outer environment air.
  • the closed cycle air is dehumidified on the condenser, it is heated by a heater and applied to the drum by being put again into the drying cycle with low relative humidity rate and at high temperature.
  • fluff particles that travel through the air between the components require particular attention.
  • lint particles come off the laundry as a result of mechanical interaction of cloth items with each other and with the drum surfaces and these particles should therefore be filtered to maintain sound operation of the laundry treatment appliance.
  • Fluff particles generally tend to accumulate around the heat exchange units’ inlet and/or outlet tubes and on the inner surfaces of the main housings thereof. Depending on the severity of the case, these particles may build up to the extent of forming a surface layer and hence lower thermal performance of the heat exchanger, which in turn prolong drying period and cause energy losses. In the most extreme situation, fluff layers may even block air flow in a heat exchanger.
  • a prior art publication in the technical field of the present invention may be referred to as WO2011042345 among others, the document disclosing a filter which is disposed into a circulation channel before the condenser for collecting fluff particles in the cycle air.

  • a condensate water accumulation reservoir (5) is provided to collect the condensate water, which is formed by the condensation of the moisture contained in the process air. While this high temperature and moisture-laden air is condensed, water vapor is transformed into condensate water and is collected in said condensate water accumulation reservoir (5).
