Description
また、光源からの紫外線を含む光を、光ファイバーから成るブラシを通してブラシの先端から照射し殺菌する歯ブラシが開示されている(例えば、特許文献2参照)。
特許文献2に記載の歯ブラシでは、紫外線により口内に悪影響を及ぼすおそれがあるという課題があった。
光ファイバーの先端は、前記先端開口から突出していてもよい。この場合、光ファイバーの先端の振動幅が大きくなり、光の照射範囲、すなわち殺菌範囲をより広くすることができる。
図1は本発明の実施の形態の超音波スケーラー用チップを示し、図2はその先端部を示している。図3は、その超音波スケーラー用チップを有する超音波スケーラーを示している。
光源5は、LEDから成り、光ファイバー12の後端15に、殺菌する所定波長領域の光を、レンズ19を介してレーザー光で入射させるよう設けられている。光源5が照射する光は、波長400~420nmの光である。
電源6は、100V電源から成り、液体供給手段3と超音波発生手段4と光源5とに駆動または発光する電力を供給するよう接続されている。電源6は、スイッチ7の操作によりオン・オフを切換え可能である。
本発明に係る超音波スケーラーは、歯科治療で使用され、チップ本体11の先端部1aを歯周ポケットに挿入して使用される。スイッチ7をオンにしたとき、超音波発生手段4によりチップ本体11を超音波振動させて、チップ本体11により歯周ポケットの内部の歯石を超音波振動で粉砕除去する。超音波発生手段4は、チップ本体11を突出部18の長さ方向に対して垂直かつ突出方向に対して垂直の方向に超音波振動させるため、チップ本体11の超音波振動方向に合わせて突出部18で歯石を効果的に粉砕除去することができる。
図4に示すように、歯ブラシは、ハンドル51とヘッド52とブラシ53と電源54とスイッチ55とを有している。ヘッド52は内部に、波長400~420nmの光を照射するLED56を有している。ヘッド52は、ハンドル51の端部に一体的に設けられている。ブラシ53は、光ファイバーから成り、LED56の光を入射し、入射した光を先端から出射するようヘッド52に設けられている。ブラシ53は、1本1本、端部がヘッド52に植え込まれて取り付けられていても、中央から折り曲げられて中央部でヘッド52に植え込まれて取り付けられていてもよい。電源54は、電池から成り、ハンドル51の内部に設けられている。電源54は、LED56に電力を供給する。電源54は、スイッチ55の操作によりオン・オフを切換え可能である。
