- the switch 10 can expand the virtual network ID (VID: Virtual Network ID; first communication group information) assigned to the terminal 1 in the local NW 1000 (corresponding to the first network). For example, when the switch 10 (A) receives a packet with the VID of the local NW 1000 addressed to the terminal 1 (c) from the terminal 1 (a), the second communication having a larger number of bits than the VID of the local NW 1000. After switching to the group information, an operation of transferring to the relay network 2000 (corresponding to the second network) is performed. When the switch 10 (A) receives a packet with the second communication group information addressed to the terminal 1 (a) from the terminal 1 (c), the switch 10 (A) returns the VID of the local NW 1000 to the terminal 1 (a). To transfer to the side.

- the relay network 2000 (corresponding to the second network) can accommodate a larger number of communication groups than the first network.
- the switch 10 (A) receives a packet (“VID10”) to which the virtual network tag (“VID10”) corresponding to the VID of the terminal 1 (b) in the local NW 1000 (A) is attached from the terminal 1 (b). 1) is received. For example, the switch 10 (A) assigns a VID different from the VID of the local NW 1000 (A) to the OVID area and the IVID area of the received packet. In the example of FIG. 1, the switch 10 assigns “VID100” to the OVID and “VID1000” to the IVID, and transmits the packet P2 (see FIG. 6) to the relay network 2000.

- CLI Common Line Interface
- the packet processing unit 12 of the switch 10 refers to the above-described entry in the group information storage unit 11 and performs an operation of mutually converting the communication group information added to the packet. For example, when receiving a packet, the packet processing unit 12 searches the group information storage unit 11 for an entry having a VID or communication group information added to the received packet. For example, when a packet is received from the terminal 1, the VID (first communication group information) of the packet is used, and the communication group information (second communication group information; for example, a combination of OVID and IVID) of the corresponding entry. After the replacement, the data is transferred to the relay network 2000 side. Further, when receiving a packet from the relay network 2000 side, the packet processing unit 12 changes the communication group information of the packet to the VID (first communication group information) of the corresponding entry, and then transfers the packet to the terminal 1 side.

Further, the switch 10 (A) transfers the packet P2 to the switch 10 (B) on the relay network 2000 (step S3).
- the switch 10 (B) that has received the packet P2 searches for the corresponding entry in the group information storage unit 11 based on the tag having the information of the communication group field set in the packet P2. As a result of the search, the entry shown in the lower part of FIG. 3 is searched.
- the switch 10 (B) generates a packet P3 in which the communication group tag of the packet P2 is replaced with the VID tag of FIG. 3 (VID 20 in the example of FIG. 3) (see step S4 and FIG. 6). Further, the switch 10 (B) transfers the packet P3 to the terminal 1 (d) (step S5).
- the switching side terminal 1 (d) receives the packet transmitted from the local NW 1000 of a different VID. Can receive. The reason is that the switch 10 once converts the VID of the received packet into the VID of the local NW 1000 and resets an appropriate VID.

Abstract
Description
図7の「vlan11(VID=11)」、「vlan21(VID=21)」、「vlan31(VID=31)」、「vlan41(VID=41)」で識別されるVLAN1011~1041が該当する。
