Abstract

This invention is a Land Rover mechanical anti theft immobilizing system, which is simply controlled by a key and sliding lock which when moved and activated spring loads a latch onto a ratchet which is hidden inside the Land Rover's own transmission parking brake, making it completely secure and tamper proof, so if an unauthorised person tries to move the Land Rover more than 100mm without the owner's permission they will hear a click and the Land Rover will be completely mechanically immobilized and thus will be unmoveable. All that is needed to de-activate the system is the owner, with the key.

Description
This invention refers to an anti theft system for land rovers 1 48 to present day which uniquely to land rovers have a parking brake on the output shaft of the transmission. This system is a key operated double spring activated trap.
At present time in excess of 40 land rovers a month are stolen, tampered with, or attempted theft of and never seen again.
Most of them have such things as alarms, electronic immobilizers, locking chains, steering locks, locking pedal covers, even locks that are installed into hydraulic systems of the clutch brake and steering.that said all of them are fairly easy to disable or remove.
The uniqueness of the rat trap system is that it is securely mounted completely out of sight underneath the transmission cover on the land rovers transmission and the working parts of the rat trap are again hidden inside the land rovers own drum brake thus making it totally secure and tamper proof, also where the key locking device is located in the drivers compartment it is an extremely limited access area with no room for tampering with drills slide hammers shafts chisel picking etc.
This system is composed of;
No1 A strong and securely transmission mounted locking device
No 2 A double spring loaded activated and de-activated system
No 3 A latch, mechanically spring loaded lock which when the land rover is moved more than 100mm will activate by number 2 thus immobilizing the land rover RAT -TRAP TABLE OF CONTENTS

Claims

The Rat Trap Claims
1. The Rat Trap is an all - inclusive mechanical spring loaded system that is simple to use, robust and when in place makes a vehicle completely inaccessible to thieves. It has been designed specifically for use on Land Rovers' as means of an anti-theft system.
2. It operates by being securely mounted to the cars transmission - making the vehicle impossible for thieves to steal.
3. The system is hidden under the floor pan of the Land Rover and only immobilised by use of a key for which the owner is in charge. This is a unique system and visible only by a small hole used to insert the key under the driver's seat of the car.
4. The Rat Trap is operated with the single push of a sliding lock. It will then spring into action if any unauthorised person(s) attempt to move the Land Rover forwards or backwards. It does this by locking the Land
Rovers' drive train which therefore halts the vehicle, making it

impossible to be driven away.
5. The structure and design of the Rat Trap system means that only the owner can de-activate by inserting the activator key into the lock and sliding to release.
