- FIG. 3 shows an outline of the network system S including the content distribution apparatus 1 according to the first embodiment of the present invention.
- An overview of the network system S including the content distribution apparatus 1 will be described with reference to FIG.
- FIG. 3 shows an example in which three content distribution apparatuses 1 and one high-speed distribution apparatus 2 are provided.
- one PC terminal device 6 ⁇ / b> A and one mobile terminal device 6 ⁇ / b> B are shown as user terminal devices 6.
- the plurality of user terminal devices 6 includes a plurality of groups of user terminal devices 6 classified into the same terminal type.
- the management device 3 When there is an access request to the moving image content from the user terminal device 6, the management device 3 accepts the access request.
- the management device 3 acquires information indicating where the moving image file is stored from the storage unit 370. Based on the information, the management device 3 redirects an access request from the user terminal device 6 (user) to the content distribution device 1 or the high-speed distribution device 2 that holds the moving image file.
- the content distribution device 1 or the high-speed distribution device 2 reads the requested moving image file from the storage unit of the own device, and distributes the moving image to the requesting user terminal device 6.
- the content distribution device 1 acquires the content from the content provider server device 4.
- the content distribution apparatus 1 decodes the acquired content (the file), re-encodes the content again in a predetermined encoding format, and sequentially distributes the re-encoded content.
- the reason why the content distribution apparatus 1 performs re-encoding is to reduce the file size of the original video content so that as much video content as possible can be stored in a limited storage capacity, and when the video content is distributed This is to reduce the amount of data flowing through the network. Network operators can reduce the amount of video content data to a level that users cannot see so that as many users as possible can use the video content even when access to the video content is concentrated. Store in distribution device 1.
- the content can be distributed from the content distribution device 1 when there is an access request to the content again. For this reason, the amount of data flowing through the communication network can be reduced.
- the high-speed distribution device 2 has moving image contents that are particularly accessed among the re-encoded moving image contents stored in the content distribution device 1.
- the content distribution apparatus 1 performs re-encoding processing with a high CPU load, and further executes processing for writing the re-encoded moving image file in the storage unit 270. For this reason, the content distribution apparatus 1 cannot support high-speed distribution when access is concentrated. Therefore, the content where access is concentrated is arranged in the high-speed distribution device 2, and the high-speed distribution device 2 specializes in distributing the moving image content.
- the number of contents arranged in the high-speed distribution device 2 is about several, for example. If too many contents are arranged in the high-speed distribution device 2, a disk search occurs when reading moving image contents, and distribution is delayed.
- the moving image content held by the high-speed distribution device 2 may be moving image data re-encoded based on the terminal information by the content distribution device 1.
- Re-encoding based on terminal information means, for example, that the content distribution apparatus 1 reads, for example, a predetermined encoding format corresponding to the specifications of each terminal from the storage unit 170 for each terminal information, and re-encodes video data in that encoding format. To do.
- Each content distribution device 1 stores moving image data that is not stored in other content distribution devices 1.
- the high-speed distribution device 2 stores moving image content selected according to the number of accesses in a predetermined time.
- the content storage destination determination unit 320 of the management device 3 determines where the content is to be arranged in the plurality of content distribution devices 1 or the high-speed distribution device 2.
- the content distribution system 7 includes a large number of content distribution apparatuses 1 and a relatively small number of high-speed distribution apparatuses 2. That is, the number of content distribution devices 1 may be larger than the number of high-speed distribution devices 2.
- the number of content distribution apparatuses 1 and high-speed distribution apparatuses 2 can be increased according to the status of access requests.
- the present embodiment in a system that performs processing with different processing costs such as re-encoding processing and distribution processing in parallel, only the distribution of content with high access frequency is separated into the high-speed distribution device 2.
- the present embodiment for example, it is possible to cope with the same amount of access with a smaller total number of servers than in a system configured with only the content distribution apparatus 1.
- the management device 3 manages information indicating the number of accesses and the device (content distribution device 1 or high-speed distribution device 2) in which the number of accesses is stored for each moving image content and terminal information of the access source.
- the management device 3 redirects the request from the user terminal device 6 to an appropriate content distribution device 1 or the like based on the management information.
- the reason for considering the terminal information of the access source is that the moving image data to be distributed may differ depending on the device of the access source. A case where the content requested by the user terminal device 6 is not yet stored in any device will be described. In this case, the management device 3 determines which content distribution device 1 stores the requested content (moving image). Furthermore, the management apparatus 3 stores new content that instructs the determined content distribution apparatus 1 to acquire and re-encode the content.
- the management apparatus 3 stores the moving image file stored in each content distribution apparatus 1.
- the number and the data size may be determined to be equal.
- the content distribution device 1 that stores new content may determine that the access to each content distribution device 1 is equal from the total number of accesses to each content distribution device 1 in a predetermined time.
- the management device 3 may manage the last access time for each video content. In this case, for example, when a predetermined time has elapsed since the last access, the management device 3 may transmit instruction information for deleting the content to the content distribution device 1 storing the content. The management device 3 instructs the content distribution device 1 to re-encode and store only the moving image content of a predetermined number of times or more in a predetermined time, and does not pass the content distribution device 1 for content with a low access frequency. May be.
- the re-encoded video content is distributed and arranged in a plurality (large number) of content distribution apparatuses 1 and a plurality of (small number) of high-speed distribution apparatuses 2.
- a distribution system having performance equivalent to that of a distribution system including a huge storage device can be constructed at a relatively low cost.
- distribution by limiting the data transfer speed between the distribution server device 12 and the storage device 13 which becomes a bottleneck in a system using a storage device It can handle concentrated access without being limited by performance.
- FIG. 4 shows an example of a table used in the management apparatus 3 according to the present embodiment.
- the value stored in the “video content” column of FIG. 4 is identification information of the re-encoded video content stored in the content distribution device 1 or the high-speed distribution device 2.
- the value stored in the “access source terminal” column is terminal information of the user terminal device 6 that requests a moving image.
- the value stored in the “storage destination” column is identification information of a device that stores the moving image content.
- the value stored in the “number of accesses in a predetermined time” column indicates the number of times the content has been accessed within a predetermined time.
- the predetermined time is, for example, 10 minutes.
- the value stored in the “last access time” column is the time when the video content indicated by the “video content” column in the row was last accessed.
- the access receiving unit 310 of the management device 3 identifies the requested moving image from the request information from the user terminal device 6, and reads the storage location of the moving image from the table illustrated in FIG. In addition, the access receiving unit 310 increments the value of the “access count” column of the requested moving image by 1 and updates the value of the “last access time” column to the time when the request is received.
- FIG. 5 shows a processing flow of the content distribution apparatus 1 according to the present embodiment.
- “content A” requests from the user terminal device 6 (terminal information of the user terminal device 6 is defined as “terminal a”) (step S11: access to content A).
- the access receiving unit 310 of the management device 3 reads the table illustrated in FIG. 4 stored in the storage unit 370 and searches for the storage location of “content A”. It is assumed that “content A” is content that has not yet been recorded in the table illustrated in FIG.
- the access reception unit 310 outputs information indicating that “content A” has not been registered to the content storage destination determination unit 320.
- the content storage destination determination unit 320 specifies, for example, the content distribution device 1 having the smallest total data size of the stored moving image content or the content distribution device 1 having the smallest number of moving image distribution times. In order to identify such a content distribution device 1, the content storage destination determination unit 320 acquires and compares the total size of the moving image data already stored in each content distribution device 1 from each content distribution device 1. May be. Alternatively, the content storage destination determination unit 320 may calculate the concentration of access in each content distribution device 1 based on the information in the table illustrated in FIG. Then, the content storage destination determination unit 320 outputs the identified identification information of the content distribution device 1 to the access reception unit 310. It is assumed that the identification information of the identified content distribution device 1 is “content distribution device 1-1”.
- the access receiving unit 310 redirects the received request to the specified content distribution device 1-1 (step S12: redirect to the distribution device 1-1). Further, the access reception unit 310 adds a new record (access information) to the table of FIG. Further, in the added record, the access receiving unit 310 sets “content A” in the moving image content column, “terminal a” in the access source terminal column, “content distribution apparatus 1-1” in the storage destination column, “1” is recorded in the access count column in time, and the time when the request is received is recorded in the access time column (step S13: access record).
- the content acquisition unit 110 accesses the content providing source server device 4 from the URL included in the request information (step S14: access to the content providing source), and acquires moving image content (step S15: content). Acquisition).
- the encoding unit 120 re-encodes the acquired moving image content, and writes the re-encoded moving image content in the storage unit 270 (step S16: encoding).
- the content distribution unit 130 distributes the re-encoded video data to the user terminal device 6 that is the access request source (step S17: content distribution).
- the user terminal device 6 may be the same terminal device as the terminal device that requested access to the “content A” in step S11 described above, or another user terminal device 6 classified into the same terminal type as the terminal device. It may be.
- the access reception unit 310 is a storage location using the identification information (“content A”) of the moving image content and the terminal information (“terminal a”) of the user terminal device 6 from the table illustrated in FIG.
- the information of “content distribution device 1-1” is read, and the received request is redirected to the content distribution device 1-1 (step S19: redirect to the distribution device 1-1).
- the access receiving unit 310 adds “1” to the access count of the read record and updates the last access time (step S20: access record).
- the content distribution unit 230 reads the re-encoded "content A" data from the storage unit 270 and distributes it to the user terminal device 6 (step S21: content distribution).
- the content storage destination determination unit 320 determines that the re-encoded video content corresponding to the combination of “content A” and “terminal a” is a video content with a particularly high access frequency (step S22: content A Determined that access is frequent.) In response to the determination, the content storage destination determination unit 320 sends instruction information to the content distribution device 1-1 so that the frequently accessed moving image content is placed on the high-speed distribution device (“high-speed distribution device 2-1”). (Step S23: Instruct to change the arrangement of content A). Then, the content storage destination determination unit 320 sets the value of the “storage destination” column of the record in which the value of the “moving content” column in the table illustrated in FIG.
- step S24 storage location information change.
- the content transfer unit 140 reads the moving image file from the storage unit 270 and transmits a copy of the moving image file to the high-speed distribution device 2-1. (Step S25: Copy content A).
- step S26 access to content A
- the access receiving unit 310 reads the information of the storage destination “high-speed delivery device 2-1” from the storage unit 370 and redirects the accepted request to the high-speed delivery device 2-1 (step S27: high-speed delivery device 2-1). Redirect). Further, the access receiving unit 310 adds “1” to the access count of the read record, and updates the last access time (step S28: access record).
- the redirect destination high-speed distribution device 2-1 reads the re-encoded “content A” data from the storage unit 270 and distributes it to the user terminal device 6 (step S29: content distribution). This processing flow ends.
- the deletion instruction information is transmitted, and the transfer instruction information of the content B to the high-speed distribution device 2-1 is transmitted to the content distribution device 1-2.
- the content acquisition unit 210 deletes the content A and acquires the content B transferred (duplicated) from the content distribution device 1-2.
- the content deletion instruction information may be transmitted to the content distribution apparatus 1 to be stored, and the content transfer unit 140 may delete the moving image data of the content.
- the content storage destination determination unit 320 sets the upper limit of the number of moving image contents to be continuously stored in the high-speed distribution device 2 so that the number of accesses to the disk from which the OS of the high-speed distribution device 2 reads the content does not increase. Determine the method. For example, the content storage destination determination unit 320 may determine the contents to be stored in the high-speed distribution device 2 so that the number of contents is within a predetermined number in descending order of the number of accesses. Alternatively, the content storage destination determination unit 320 may determine the content to be stored so that the total value of the data size of the content totaled in order from the content with the highest access count becomes a predetermined data size. Alternatively, the content storage destination determination unit 320 may determine to store more content than the predetermined number of accesses.
- the moving image content is arranged in the content distribution device 1 and the high-speed distribution device 2 in accordance with the access frequency, and the requests can be responded even if the requests from the user are concentrated. Since each moving image file is distributed and arranged in each distribution device, the load due to access is distributed. In particular, content that is concentrated on access is carefully selected and placed in the high-speed distribution device 2, which causes a problem of insufficient data transfer bandwidth between the distribution server device and the storage device during access concentration when moving image files are stored in the storage device. Absent. In general, a storage device having a large storage capacity and a high data transfer rate tends to be expensive.
- This distribution system can be constructed with only an inexpensive server device, and can exhibit distribution performance equivalent to that of a distribution system including a high-performance storage device at low cost.
- the amount of data of the moving image content stored in each distribution device is reduced by re-encoding processing. Therefore, even when a large number of distribution requests are received, the amount of data flowing through the network can be reduced by a value calculated by multiplying the reduced data amount by the number of requests.
- the content distribution apparatus 1 described above has a computer inside. Each process of the content distribution apparatus 1 described above is stored in a computer-readable recording medium in the form of a program. The above processing is performed by the computer reading and executing this program.
- the computer-readable recording medium means a magnetic disk, a magneto-optical disk, a CD-ROM, a DVD-ROM, a semiconductor memory, or the like.
- the computer program may be distributed to the computer via a communication line, and the computer that has received the distribution may execute the program.

Abstract
