- the secondary battery is attracting attention as a new energy source for improving eco-friendliness and energy efficiency in that not only the primary advantage of significantly reducing the use of fossil fuels is generated, but also no by-products of energy use are generated.
- Such a secondary battery may be repeatedly charged and discharged by an electrochemical reaction between components, including a positive electrode and a negative electrode current collector, a separator, an active material, an electrolyte, and the like.
- a lithium polymer secondary battery widely used has an operating voltage of about 3.7V to 4.2V. Therefore, in order to obtain a high output battery pack applied to the electric vehicle or the like, a plurality of unit secondary battery cells are connected in series to form a battery pack.
- the battery pack includes a power supply control for a driving load such as a motor, measurement of electrical characteristics such as current or voltage, charge / discharge control, voltage equalization control, and SOC (state of charge).

- An algorithm for estimating is applied to further include a battery management system (BMS) for monitoring and controlling the state of the secondary battery.
- BMS battery management system
- the battery pack of the multi-module structure includes a plurality of secondary battery cells, it is limited to control the charge / discharge state of all the secondary battery cells or the plurality of battery modules using one BMS. Therefore, in recent years, each battery module included in the battery pack is equipped with a battery management unit (Battery Management Unit) to designate them as slave units, and then by a master-slave method of additionally mounting a master unit for controlling the slave units Technology for controlling the charge and discharge of each battery module is used.

From the start point of the data transmission section illustrated in FIG. 7, '2nd_PROT', 'Under V PROT', and 'Diag' may be sequentially transmitted. Of course, the data transmission order can be variously set.
- Two or more pieces of data included in the data transmission section of the ADSYNC may have the same width and may be different from each other.
- the width of the data farther from the start point is wider than that of the data close to the start point of the data transmission section.
- the width of the data increases by 5% from the width of the data farther from the start of the data transmission interval than the width of the data close to the start of the data transmission interval.
- an error of about 5% or more may occur between transmission and reception.
- the more you use a better RC oscillator the less the error will be. Therefore, when two or more pieces of data are transmitted, the data can be communicated in consideration of an error occurring without using a high performance RC oscillator by increasing the width of each data, for example, by 5%. If the error is -5% to + 5% and is transmitted with a constant width, the number of data that can be transmitted and received is limited to nine or less.
- data is transmitted by increasing the width of each data little by little.
- a pulse indicating a boundary between the data may be included in the data transmission section of the ADSYNC.
- the increased data width increases the width of the data when the expected error in the system to be used is large.
- the battery management unit 310 may further include a synchronization line electrically connected for synchronization with another adjacent battery management unit. At this time, the battery management unit 310 performs synchronization by ADSYNC.
- the battery management systems 101 to 106 are required to operate in synchronization with all battery management units 310 and to transmit data.

- each data transmission preparation section of the free-run ADSYNC output by the battery management units 1 to 8 and the width of the ADSYNC cycle are different from each other.
- the free-run ADSYNC of each battery management unit 310 as described above can be identified by all battery management units 310 through the synchronization line.
- the battery management unit 310 is synchronized to the free-run ADSYNC of any one of the output free-run ADSYNC.
- the battery management unit 310 is the width of the data transmission preparation interval and the width of the ADSYNC period of the pre-run ADSYNC output from the plurality of battery management unit 310 This is synchronized to the smallest free-run ADSYNC.
- FIG. 9 is a waveform diagram of a synchronized free-run ADSYNC in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention.
- FIG. 8 it can be seen from FIG. 8 that the width of the data transmission preparation section of the unit 8 is the smallest and one cycle of the free-run ADSYNC is the fastest. Accordingly, it can be seen in FIG. 9 that the free-run ADSYNC of the unit 1 and the unit 2 is synchronized with the free-run ADSYNC of the unit 8 according to an embodiment of the present invention. .
- each battery management unit 310 measures the voltage of the secondary battery 111 or performs a failure diagnosis in accordance with the synchronized cycle of ADSYNC.
- each battery management unit 310 when transmitting data to the external device 10 can also be used to determine the order of transmitting its own data.
- the battery management system and the external device can be connected using a small number of insulating elements.
- each component of the present invention illustrated in FIGS. 2 to 6 should be understood as logically divided components rather than physically divided components.
- each configuration corresponds to a logical component in order to realize the technical idea of the present invention, so that even if each component is integrated or separated, if the function performed by the logical configuration of the present invention can be realized, it is within the scope of the present invention. It should be construed that the components that perform the same or similar functions are to be interpreted as being within the scope of the present invention regardless of whether they correspond in terms of their names.
