Abstract
A mounting means finding particular applications for mounting a cellular phone on a vehicle dashboard or similar surface, comprising a first mounting element securable to the surface and a second mounting element attachable to the article (cellular phone) to be mounted. The first mounting element comprises a hook for engaging a second mounting element which is adapted to reliably engage the hook.
Description
MOUNTING MEANS
FIELD OF THE INVENTS Qfti
This invention is the fie!d of mounting means, specifically mounting means for removably mounting an article to a surface, for example, a cellular phone in a motor vehicle.
BACKGROUND TO THE .NVENTION
Mounting units for articles such as ceil phones are known, but many of these mounting units are cumbersome and are aesthetically displeasing.
Mounting units are generally specific to the phone which one wishes to mount to a surface, it can become expensive to replace these units when a cell phone is upgraded or replaced.
The inventor believes that there Is a need to at least- attempt to alleviate these problems,
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
According to an aspect of the invention there is provided a mounting means for mounting an article on a surface comprising a first mounting element securab!e to the surface and a second mounting element attachable to an article to be mounted, the first mounting .element comprising a hook and the second mounting element being adapted to reSeasably engage the hook.
The article may include a cellular phone and/or a cellular phone cover.
The surface may comprise any surface including but not limited to any surface of a motor vehicle (for example a dashboard or centre console) and/or any variety of surfaces in and around the house or office environment.
The first mounting element may be attachable to a surface by a variety of means including but not limited to an adhesive, a suction means and the like. The fsrst mounting means includes a hook, shaped to be received by the second mounting element.
The first mounting element may include a protrusion shaped to abut the articie when the first mounting element is received by the second mounting element, thereby assisting wit stabilising the article. This protrusion may further assist in keeping th load forces equal and thereby maintaining the strength of the attachment of the bracket to the surface.
The second mounting element may include a recess for receiving the hook of the first mounting element.
The second mounting element may have an adhesive portion on at least a part thereof to facilitate attachment to the articie.
The cellular p one cover may be shaped to firstly cover the phone, arid secondl to attach to the second mounting element, thereby attaching the cellular phone to the fsrst mounting element.
The second mounting element may be non-slip, thereby preventing the cellular phone and/or cellular phone cover from moving when placed on a surface.
As a further alternative, the cellular phone and/or the cellular phone cover may include a shallow cavity which may facilitate engagement of the hook with the second mounting element.
A second mounting element of an articie may be removably attachable to a number of first mounting elements which ar secured relative to various surfaces, thereb providing mounting of one article in different areas.
The second mounting element and the first mounting element may include branding.
DESCRIPTIONS OF THE DRAWINGS
The mounting means will be explained with reference to the following non-iirniting drawings:
Figure 1 shows the first mounting element of the mounting means;
Figure 2 shows the second mounting element;
Figure 3 shows a further embodiment of the second mounting means: and
Figure 4 shows the first mounting element and the second mounting element when in use.
Reference numeral 10 refers to a mounting means in accordance with the invention.
As shown in figures 1 to 4, the mounting means 10 includes a first mounting element 12 and a second mounting element 14, The first mounting element 12 is attached to a surface (not shown) including a wall, glass, any surface on the inside of a vehicle and the like. The first mounting element 12 is attached to the surface by a adhesive or■ a suction means etc, and includes a hook 24 which is received by the second mounting element 14 attached to the cellular phone and/o cellular phone cover 26 during mounting onto the surface.
The second mounting element 14 is attachable to the article 26 and includes a recess 30 which is shaped to receive the hook 24 of the first mounting element 12 during use. The cellular phone and/or the cellular phone cover 26 includes a shallow cavity (not shown) which facilitates engagemen of the hook 24 with the underside of the first mounting element 12. The first mounting element includes a protrusion 32 which is shaped to abut the article when the first mounting element 12 is received b the second mounting element 14, thereby assisting with stabilising the article.
The invention provides a novel mounting means.
