Definitions
- the present invention relates to an array antenna apparatus for implementing a predetermined beam width using a predetermined number of antenna elements.
- the array antenna is used to increase the directivity of the antenna.
- the array antenna is a structure in which a plurality of antenna elements are arranged, and the beam is steered in a specific direction by adjusting a phase for each antenna element.
- the beam width of the array antenna is determined according to the overall size of the array antenna. In this case, in order to maintain a constant beam width, the total size of the array antenna should be maintained by increasing the number of antenna elements constituting the array antenna or by arranging the antenna elements in such a manner as to widen the interval between the antenna elements.
- the interval between the antenna elements is arranged to have a predetermined length (generally, ⁇ / 2) or more, a grating lobe or an unwanted side lobe may occur during beam steering.
- the system complexity increases and an additional RF frequency chain, for example, a phase shifter or an amplifier is generated. There is a problem of increased cost.
- the present invention proposes a structure of an array antenna device that minimizes unwanted lobes while implementing a predetermined beam width using a limited number of antenna elements.

- methods for solving unwanted lobes generated during beam steering include large sub-array structures and circular array antennas.
- an array antenna is configured by grouping a plurality of antenna elements using one RF (Radio Frequency chain) chain into one group.
- the grating lobe generated in the entire array factor is matched with the null position of the array coefficients of the corresponding sub-array group by increasing the distance between the antenna elements.
- the method can suppress the grating lobe of the final array coefficient determined by the product of two coefficients, that is, the entire array coefficient and the array coefficient for each sub array group.

- two antenna elements are grouped into a horizontal axis and a vertical axis to form a sub-array group.
- the phase of the antenna element is adjusted through a phase shifter.
- the total array coefficient moves in correspondence with the angle of the steering beam, whereas the arrangement coefficient for each sub array group does not apply this change. Therefore, when the beam steering is not performed, the grating lobes that are nulled by the product of the two coefficients are moved together by the beam steering, and thus are not nulled.
- the phase shifter must be added for each antenna element constituting the corresponding sub-array group, causing an increase in the RF chain.
- the arrangement using the arrangement of the circular array antenna is a method of determining the arrangement of the circular array antenna according to a condition that side lobes will not occur due to a radiation characteristic.

- the number of antenna elements to be arranged for each concentric circle is also increased.
- the number of antenna elements to be disposed for each concentric circle is increased by the number of times of the concentric circles compared to the number of antenna elements arranged in the innermost concentric circles. Therefore, the number of antenna elements constituting the entire array antenna increases exponentially.
- the number of RF chains also increases for each antenna element. This causes a problem that the limited size and manufacturing cost of the antenna is exceeded. Therefore, in the case of an array antenna for a terminal sensitive to space freedom or a manufacturing cost, a method of determining the arrangement of the circular array antenna may cause a problem of low utilization.

Description

<수학식 1>
