Abstract

The invention relates to a piece of furniture comprising an upper sink (1); a lower sink (2) arranged lower than said upper sink (1), to the side thereof (1); and a sink cabinet (3,3') whereon the upper sink (1) and the lower sink (2) rest. The lower sink (2) is defined by three walls (23) and a front ledge (24), and water is removed (22) therefrom by continuous drainage. The sink cabinet (3,3') can comprise drawers and/or doors and/or shelves. The piece of furniture can be used as part of a modular station with multiple posts for performing ablutions. To this end, various pieces of furniture (modules) are arranged in a line.

Description

LAVABO FURNITURE FOR ABLUTIONS

OBJECT OF THE INVENTION

The object of the present invention belongs to the field of compact devices technique for performing the Muslim ablution ritual called wudú.

The compact device object of the present invention has a double sink at different heights and at different vertical lines on a low-cabinet.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The wudú is a rite or obligatory ablution procedure for Muslims when performing their prayers and other activities. Most Muslims perform wudú, including many of them five times a day. The wudú involves the washing of the hands, mouth, nose, face, forearms, and, of special relevance in connection with the present invention, of each of the feet. The washing of each foot is done by filling the hands with water and running the hands through each of the feet, first one and then the other.

In Muslim places of worship it is common to find water supplies to perform ablutions, typically several believers can jointly use stretches of water drainage channels provided with several faucets. Sometimes this supply is continuous or inefficient at the time of its regulation. Therefore, some inventions that describe devices are known for saving water when performing the wudu, for example by connecting the drain of the washbasin used for washing the upper parts of the body with the water supply for washing the feet.

Other inventions, such as that described by patent ES2326862, describe sinks and bathtubs adapted to contain a limited volume of water for ablution in accordance with the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad and Islamic writings.

Facilities for performing the ablution procedure usually require that the believer be in a sitting position, such as in the sanitary device described in patent FR2657519. This patent describes a device with a low seat equipped with a backrest and a washbasin where ablutions of arms and feet are performed with a V-shaped axial section to allow ergonomically to support the feet or calves. This device allows an ergonomic interaction between the seat and the sink. The device has a central column that projects water jets. Alternatively, it can be connected to a communal circular sink (forming a crown around said column).

In many homes, and especially offices, there is no bidet or even shower trays with which, when a believer wants to wash his feet, it is usual to raise his leg to the height of the normal sink to wash his feet, which is uncomfortable and dangerous because of the risk of falls. However, for some older people or those with back problems, it may be uncomfortable or impossible to perform ablution in a seated position or in an elevated traditional washbasin, even with especially ergonomic devices such as the one indicated in patent FR2657519. To overcome this problem, patent document EP2431542 describes a fixed toilet that allows the wudú ritual to be performed without the need for the believer to feel. This fixed toilet has a column whose upper part is a washbasin for washing the upper parts of the body and, below said upper washbasin, this toilet has a lower washbasin with dimensions that allow the believer's feet to be accommodated for washing according to the wudú ritual. This device can be integrated in the bathroom or any room of a house by its size. The lower washbasin has the front part removed to facilitate the entry of the foot to be washed, however, said configuration increases the likelihood of overflow of the feedwater if the continuous drain drain does not evacuate the feedwater flow rate sufficiently quickly.

However, in the device of patent document EP2431542, when the lower washbasin is located just below the upper washbasin, the believer risks hitting his head with the upper washbasin when washing his feet; whereby, this device creates serious ergonomic problems.

Another drawback of this washbasin of patent document EP2431542 lies in the fact that its configuration prevents its use in a comfortable way to two adult believers, since the upper and lower basins are practically on the same vertical.

This last drawback of patent document EP1437542 results in an additional drawback: the possibilities and maximum use of this device are considerably limited when putting a succession of devices online in a place of public worship and being able to use said succession of washbasins by a higher number of believers than superior toilets.

On the other hand, in most of the current bathrooms, due to its small dimensions, there is no room for the majority of existing solutions in the state of the art, which propose the use of seats, are not applicable in most of the homes

DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The washbasin cabinet for ablutions object of the present invention proposes an alternative to the devices for performing the wudú ritual available in the market and overcomes the disadvantages of the state of the art described above, at the same time as its simplicity allows easy installation and optimization of space, as well as simplified maintenance and use.

Its size, compactness, ease of installation, aesthetics, no requirement for seats or chairs, what They are suitable for installation in homes, workplaces and public places, since it does not require more space than that of a low-furniture or washbasin cabinet and it is not necessary to perform any specific pre-installation or work. It is designed to replace the conventional household sink.

The ablution washbasin cabinet object of the present invention incorporates an upper washbasin, for washing the upper parts of the believer's body, and a lower washbasin, for washing each foot, both washbasins located on a low-furniture. The low furniture has a configuration so that the lower washbasin is located at a lower height than said upper washbasin and is disposed laterally to said upper washbasin. Since both sinks are not on the same vertical, the believer does not run the risk of hitting the head with the upper washbasin when washing the feet in the lower washbasin. In addition, with this configuration, two believers can use the furniture at the same time: while one washes its upper parts, the other washes its feet. Each of the toilets comprises at least one tap and a drain.

To allow a comfortable introduction, without losing balance and without the need of using an outside seat, the lower washbasin is located a little high above the floor and does not present, hardly, a closure or frontal delimitation (that is, said lower washbasin it is markedly delimited by three walls).

Therefore, since this lower compartment is not notoriously compartmentalized throughout its perimeter, its drain is continuous drain to prevent overflow of water used to wash the feet. Additionally, a small front flange can be left in the lower sink to avoid overflow and splashing of the water used for washing the feet. Another alternative, also compatible with the flange, is to make the bottom of the lower basin with a concave configuration.

The low-cabinet advantageously incorporates, for example, drawers and / or shelves and / or doors that will therefore be located under the washbasins. This structural and configuration aspect of the low-furniture provides both aesthetic advantages and the use of the furniture (storage of towels, shoes, etc). Moreover, the existence of the under-furniture allows hiding different types of connections for water supply, drainage, and water recycling between the upper and lower basins.

The upper and lower washbasins can be joined without continuity solution forming a single piece or, alternatively, be made up of independent pieces. In this way, this single piece allows easy transport, assembly on the under-furniture and maintenance of the furniture.

The under-furniture can be both suspended and perched on the ground.

As already indicated, the furniture object of the present invention allows different combinations of water supply, drainage and recycling. For example, The water in both sinks can be connected to a single point of water arrival, which is an advantage, being able to use the pre-installation of water supply existing in homes, offices or public places. It is also possible to connect them to different water arrival points.

Also the drains of both toilets can be connected to a single point of public drainage already available in homes, offices or public places.

If desired, to allow optimized use of water according to Islamic scriptures, the drain of the upper washbasin can be connected to the water inlet of the lower washbasin.

The furniture for ablutions object of the present invention can be installed in any home or office, as well as in public spaces such as centers of worship.

Another advantage provided by the existence of a lower washbasin is that it can be used advantageously by children, people of short stature or people in a wheelchair.

The furniture can be placed individually, but also, as it is configured as a compact module, as part of a modular station with multiple positions for ablutions. For this, several furniture (modules) are placed in line. In this way, a multitude of believers can simultaneously carry out their ablutions. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES

PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION

A preferred embodiment of the invention is detailed below, which is to be understood in a broad and non-limiting sense.

Figure 2 shows an alternative of washbasin furniture for ablutions with a low-furniture (3 ') for its suspended placement on a wall, with a drawer (31) and without shelf. Said washbasin cabinet also has: an upper washbasin (1), its tap (11) and its drain (12); and a lower sink (2), its tap (21) and its drain (22), delimited by three walls (23) and a front flange (24).
