Description

A HOT BEVERAGE PREPARATION MACHINE
The present invention relates to a hot beverage preparation machine comprising a control unit.
In hot beverage preparation machines, the water filled into the water container is heated by a water heater and is transferred to the brewing chamber containing raw beverage material to be prepared. The brewing process is performed in the brewing chamber as a result of the interaction between the raw beverage material and water. Afterwards, the brewed beverage is transferred into a pot and served. The time the raw beverage material interacts with the water is one of the important parameters that defines the brew strength, hence the taste of the beverage. Keeping the raw beverage material in the brewing chamber for a long time causes the preponderance of taste of the raw beverage material to increase and the beverage to get bitter. On the other hand, keeping the raw beverage material in the brewing chamber for a time period shorter than a certain time causes a weed-like smell in the beverage and an undesired raw taste.
In the state of the art International Patent Application No. WO2008049163, a tea maker is disclosed, wherein the used tea leaves are removed from the brewing chamber.
The aim of the present invention is the realization of a hot beverage preparation machine that improves the taste of the hot beverage.
The hot beverage preparation machine realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention and explicated in the claims, comprises a body, a water container that is placed onto the body and wherein the brewing water is heated, a brewing chamber wherein the brewing process is performed as a result of the interaction between raw beverage material and water, a housing that is situated on the body and a pot that is situated on the housing so as to allow the brewed beverage to be distilled therein. When the brewing process is completed, the hot beverage is distilled from the brewing chamber to the pot and seperated from the raw beverage material. Thus, the taste of the beverage obtained momentarily during the brewing process is kept for a longer time and the beverage is prevented from getting stale.
The hot beverage preparation machine of the present invention comprises a control unit that enables the brewed beverage to be separated from the raw beverage material and to be transferred from the brewing chamber to the pot at the end of a brewing time that is longer than the brewing time lower value and shorter than the brewing time upper value. For almost all hot beverages prepared by brewing the raw beverage material through interaction with the water, different brew strengths varying depending on the brewing time are detected. Especially for the black tea, the brewing time is an important parameter that defines the brew strength and quality. In case the brewing time is below a certain time, the expected taste cannot be obtained. As the brewing time increases, the brewed beverage gets darker and a bitter taste. By realizing the brewing time in the optimum time interval predetermined by the produced, the beverage is prevented from being served before being ready or its taste is prevented from getting bitter or stale.
In an embodiment of the present invention, different brewing times for different brew strengths are defined in the control unit by the producer or the user. When the user selects the brew strength that suits his/her taste most, the beverage is kept in the brewing chamber for the brewing time that provides the selected brew strength. Thus, the brewing process is realized in a controlled manner and tea can be prepared for different tastes.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the control unit allows the user to change the brewing time predetermined by the producer. The user selects the brewing time that provides the desired brew strength recommended by the producer or according to his/her preference and the control unit enables the realization of the brewing process for the selected brewing time.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the control unit changes the brewing time lower value and/or the brewing time upper value according to the water hardness that is one of the parameters that define the brewing time. Since the brewing time gets longer as the hardness of the water decreases, the brewing time lower value and the brewing time upper value are increased by a time period predetermined by the producer according to the measured water hardness value.
The hot beverage preparation machine realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where:
Figure 1 - is the perspective view of a hot beverage preparation machine .
Figure 2 - is the exploded perspective view of a hot beverage preparation machine.
The following symbols are used for explicating the hot beverage preparation machine (1) of the present invention:
• dsait : a brewing time lower value predetermined by the producer
• dsUst : a brewing time upper value predetermined by the producer
• ds : a brewing time
• dsi,ds2,ds3,.. : more than one different brewing time predetermined by the producer or the user
The elements illustrated in the figures are numbered as follows:
1. Hot beverage preparation machine
2. Body
3. Water container
4. Water heater
5. Brewing chamber
6. Housing
7. Pot
8. Control unit
The hot beverage preparation machine (1) comprises a body (2), a water container (3) wherein water is filled, a water heater (4) enabling the water in the water container (3) to be heated, a brewing chamber (5) wherein the raw material of the beverage to be prepared is put and whereto the water heated in the water container (3) is transferred, wherein the brewing process is performed as a result of the interaction between the raw beverage material and water, a housing (6) that is situated on the body (2), under the brewing chamber (5), and a pot (7) that is placed into the housing (6), the top surface thereof being at least partially open and whereto the beverage brewed in the brewing chamber (5) is transferred. By seperating the brewed beverage from the raw beverage material after the completion of the brewing process, the taste of the beverage is prevented from getting stronger (bitter). Thus, the beverage gets stale after a longer time period and the flavor obtained after the completion of the brewing process is kept for a longer time.
The hot beverage preparation machine (1 ) comprises a control unit (8) that enables the beverage to be brewed in the brewing chamber (5) for a brewing time (ds) that is between a brewing time lower value (dsalt) predetermined by the producer and a brewing time upper value (dsUst) predetermined by the producer, then enables the beverage to be removed from the brewing chamber (5) at the end of the brewing time (ds) and to be taken into the pot (7). For almost all hot beverages, especially for the black tea with a strong flavor, there is an optimum brewing time that varies depending on the desired brew strength. In case the brewing time is lower than a certain time, the beverage gives a weed-like smell and a raw taste. During the brewing process, some of caffeine, organic acids and polyphenol derivatives (such as catechine, flanols, gallic acid and depsides) and minerals such as potassium found in the black tea is extracted into the brew. As the brewing time increases, the amount of polyphenol and caffeine extracted to the brew increases, thus the brew gets darker and a bitter taste. By keeping the brewing time between the brewing time lower value (dsa|t) and the brewing time upper value (dsUst), the beverage is prevented from being served before being ready or its taste is prevented from getting bitter or stale. In an embodiment of the present invention, the control unit (8) provides the realization of the brewing process for more than one different brewing time (dsj,ds2,ds3,...) predetermined by the producer for different brew strengths corresponding to the brew strength preferred by the user. Different brewing times (dsi,ds2,ds3,...) for different brew strengths are defined in the control unit (8) by the producer or the user. For example, if the brewing time (dsj,ds2,ds3,...) is close to the brewing time lower value (dsait) between the brewing time lower value (dSait) and the brewing time upper value (dsUst), the brew strength is defined as soft, and the brewing time (dsl3ds2,ds3,...) is close to the brewing time upper value (dsost), the brew strength is defined as strong. When the user selects the brew strength that suits his/her taste the most, the beverage is kept in the brewing chamber (5) for the brewing time (ds1,ds2,ds3,...) that provides the selected brew strength. Thus, the brewing process is realized in a controlled manner and tea can be prepared for different tastes.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the control unit (8) allows the user to determine the brewing time (ds1 ;ds2,ds3...). The user selects the brewing time (ds!,ds2,ds3,....) that provides the desired brew strength and the control unit (8) enables the realization of the brewing process for the selected brewing time (ds],ds2,ds3,....). The brewing time (dsl,ds2,ds3,....) can be determined by the user or can be recommended by the producer.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the control unit (8) changes the brewing time lower value (dsait) and/or the brewing time upper vale (dsUst) according to the water hardness that is one of the parameters that define the brewing time (ds). Since the brewing time (ds) gets shorter as the hardness of the water increases, the brewing time lower value (dsait) and the brewing time upper value (dsust) are decreased by a time period predetermined by the producer according to the measured water hardness value.
By means of the present invention, a hot beverage preparation machine (1) is realized, wherein the brewing process is ended at a point between the brewing time lower value (dsait) predetermined by the producer and the brewing time upper value (dsust) predetermined by the producer, thus the time at the end of which the brewed beverage is separated from the used beverage material is controlled. The momentary flavor obtained after the completion of the brewing process is kept for a longer time and the beverage is prevented from getting bitter and stale. Since the brewing time is realized in a controlled manner according to the brewing times (ds) predetermined by the producer or the user, beverages can be prepared at different brew strengths for different tastes and the quality of taste is improved.
