Schaltbares Abstützelement (1 ) für einen Ventiltrieb einer Brennkraftma- schine, mit einem in eine Aufnahme (2) eines Zylinderkopfes (3) der Brennkraftmaschine einbaubaren Gehäuse (4), in dessen Bohrung (5) ein axial bewegliches, aus dem Gehäuse (4) heraus durch ein Federmittel (6) beaufschlagtes Innenelement (7) sitzt, wobei in einer Radialbohrung (8) des Innenelements (7) wenigstens ein Koppelschieber (9) verläuft, welcher in einer axial ausgefahrenen Position mit einer Mitnehmerfläche des Gehäuses (4) in Eingriff bringbar ist, wobei die ausgefahrene Position über ein Höhenanschlagmittel (10) begrenzt ist und wobei ein Außenmantel (1 1 ) des Gehäuses (4) von einem Vorsprung (12) zur Darstellung einer äußeren Verdrehsicherung überragt ist, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass als Höhenanschlagmittel (10) zumindest ein auf einem gehäuseseitigen Ringabsatz (13) des Innenelements (7) umlaufender Sprengring appliziert ist, welcher radial außen abschnittsweise sowie zumindest mittelbar über dessen obere Ringstirn (14) an einer Unterringkante (15) einer Ringnut (16) des Gehäuse (4) im Anschlagfall anliegt, wobei der Sprengring (10) mit einem Umlaufring (18) mit desach- sierter Bohrung (17) gestapelt ist, von welchem Umlaufring (18) eine Zunge als der Vorsprung (12) radial nach außen durch eine segmentartige, von einer oberen Ringstirn (19) des Gehäuses (4) ausgehende Ausnehmung (20) des Gehäuses (4) wegragt.
