Abstract
The present invention relates to a process for applying the bottom inside the garment directly and without recourse to the use of any stitching step. The process applies the bottom directly to the garment and/or shorts, the bottom being previously prepared with a glue around the external edge of the bottom being obtained in the covering fabric of the bottom. The bottom is fixed by preparing the garment on a suitable non-flat surface.
Description
DESCRIPTION
"PROCESS FOR COUPLING A REINFORCING BOTTOM TO A GARMENT AND A GARMENT THUS OBTAINED"
Technical field
The present invention relates to the field of making garments for sports use and particularly relates to a process for applying a bottom to the inner part of the garment.
The object of the invention also relates to the garment to which the bottom has been applied according to the claimed process.
The increase in the popularity of two-wheel sports, in particular road cycling and MTB, both at the amateur and competitive level, has led to demand for high quality at moderate cost for garments that are suitable for providing the user with maximum comfort during prolonged periods of cycling.
Significant developments have been achieved over time so as to produce cycling shorts with a high degree of comfort during contact of the body with the saddle.
The present invention relates to a method for coupling a bottom for the garment so as to reduce:
- production cost
-the friction zones in the contact zone and thus rubbing and possible discomfort.
Background Art
Existing cycling garments include a bottom comprising a plurality of types 5 of padding, appropriately arranged in the zone inside the interior crotch of the trousers, which padding is designed to increase comfort and protection. Precisely, the bottoms are formed by moulding layers of synthetic fabric that incorporate a layer of open-cell synthetic sponge that takes on different thicknesses and shape according to the mould used, o The prior art envisages stitching of the reinforcing bottoms on the garment.
Disclosure and advantages of the invention
The aim of the present invention is to provide the prior art with an improved process for applying directly and without resorting to the use of
5 any stitching step, the bottom inside the garment. Unlike what has been until now been made available by the prior art, the claimed process applies the bottom directly to the garment and/or shorts, the bottom being previously prepared with a glue around an external edge of the bottom, obtained in the covering fabric of the bottom. The bottom is fixed o by preparing the garment on a suitable non-flat surface.
The advantages:
- precision and speed of joining bottom/garment
- finished product of greater quality and comfort inasmuch as the application against a matrix with a non-flat supporting surface enables, already in the step of joining the elements, three-dimensional geometry to be obtained that is otherwise not reproducible with traditional stitching methods.
Said objects and advantages are all achieved by the process for coupling a reinforcing bottom with a garment and garment thus obtained, that is the object of the present invention, that is characterised by what is set out in the claims below.
Brief Description of Drawings
This and further characteristics of the invention will be better highlighted in the following description of some embodiments thereof, illustrated, in the form of a non-limiting example, with the help of accompanying drawings.
- Figure 1 : this illustrates a sports garment arranged on a mask or mould or matrix having a non-flat surface on which the outside of the garment will rest, whilst the internal remains free and exposed to the resting of a bottom; this portion that rests on said non-flat surface is the portion that corresponds to the intersection of the crotch of the shorts, i.e. the groin zone that will rest on the saddle of a bicycle.
Description of the Invention
The process in question applies a bottom to the internal part of a sports garment, shorts or the like, by direction application of the bottom onto the garment.
More precisely, it relates to a bonding or gluing process that involves the adhesion of at least on strip of glue or adhesive material arranged along the perimeter and continuous edge of fabric placed outside the area occupied by the padding of the bottom.
The process provides an operating sequence specified below:
a) The garment is first arranged onto which the bottom (already made previously) against at least one non-flat resting surface; b) Subsequently the bottom is arranged against the internal part of the garment, which now remains free, having turned the garment on the non-flat surface; the zone that rests on the non- flat surface corresponds to the zone at the intersection of the crotch of the shorts;
c) A second non-flat surface is then applied to close said bottom and garment that are thus arranged adjacent to one another; d) The bottom and the garment are then joined by gluing or bonding of the components between the surfaces.
During the joining step, owing to the non-flat configuration given by the resting surface and by the crushing counter-surface, the bottom and relative garment portion take on a three-dimensional configuration.
Said non-flat surfaces are part of corresponding moulds or counter- 5 moulds, as illustrated in the figure.
Following arrangement of the garment on the non-flat surface, the inside of the garment is turned, i.e. with the external portion resting to said non- flat surface.
Said adhesion element is applied previously to the adhesion element, o along a closed path that will be covered by an external edge of the bottom.
A heat application step is provided, following coupling of the bottom- garment; said heat being generated mainly along an external edge of the bottom.
i s The external edge of the bottom has a width comprised between 1 and 2 centimetres.
Claims
1. Process for applying a bottom to the internal part of a sports garment, shorts or the like, by direct application of the bottom to the garment; characterised by:
a) arranging the part of the garment, on which to fix said bottom, against at least one non-flat resting surface;
b) arranging a previously finished and formed bottom against said internal part resting on the non-flat surface;
c) applying a second non-flat surface closing said bottom and garment;
d) joining the bottom and the garment by gluing or bonding the components between the surfaces; during the step of joining, the bottom and corresponding garment portion take on a three- dimensional configuration.
2. Process according to claim 1 , characterised in that said non-flat surfaces are part of corresponding moulds or countermoulds.
3. Process according to claim 1 , characterised in that following the arrangement of the garment on the non-flat surface, the inside of the garment is turned, i.e. with the external portion resting towards said non-flat surface.
4. Process according to claim 1 , characterised in that said bonding or gluing involves sticking at least one strip of glue or adhesive material that is arranged along the perimeter and continuous edge of fabric placed outside the area occupied by the pudding of the bottom.
5. Process according to claim 1 , characterised in that said adhesion element is applied previously to the adhesion element, along a closed path that will be covered by an external edge of the bottom.
6. Process according to claim 1 , characterised in that it provides a heat application step following the bottom-garment coupling; said heat being mainly generated along an external edge of the bottom.
7. Process according to preceding claims, characterised in that said external edge of the bottom has a width comprised between 1 and 2 centimetres.
