PERFECTED BOTTOM STRUCTURE FOR CYCLING SHORTS

DESCRIPTION

The present invention relates to an improved pad structure for cycling shorts.

Nowadays, shorts with anatomic pad to make sitting on the saddle more comfortable are now an essential part of the equipment for practicing cycling as a sport activity.

This protection is used to avoid grazes and abrasions to the anatomical parts in contact with the saddle of the bike.

It is in fact known that, after many kilometers traveled by bike, the continuous pressure of the body and the ischial bones on the seat can generate annoying pain, compromising the athlete's good exercise.

To date, such bottoms are made for example by coupling and welding various stratified portions of polyurethane, with gluing operations and subsequent thermo-forming or high-frequency welding of the fabrics with polyurethanes.

Said known type bottoms made with polyurethane foams have important technical limitations mainly due to poor breathability and to the presence of rigid coupling points of the layers, which affect the comfort and reliability of the product over time.

The aim of the present invention is to provide an improved pad structure for cycling shorts capable of obviating the aforementioned limitations of known bottoms for cycling shorts.

Within this aim, an object of the invention is to provide an improved bottom structure which is more comfortable and at the same time no less breathable than known pads.

Another object of the invention is to provide an improved pad structure that is anatomically compatible with the needs of the athlete.

Another object of the invention is to provide an improved pad structure applicable to shorts of a known type with per se known techniques.

A further object of the invention is to provide an improved base structure which can be produced with per se known technologies.

This aim, as well as these and other objects which will become clearer hereinafter, are achieved by an improved pad structure for cycling shorts, characterized in that it comprises

- a first layer of fabric, facing a user in use order,

a second intermediate layer in soft polyurethane foam,

a third intermediate layer in high-density polyurethane foam,

a fourth layer facing outwards when in use, in breathable filter foam, to protect the anatomical parts.

Further characteristics and advantages of the invention will become clearer from the description of a preferred but not exclusive embodiment of the improved base structure according to the invention, illustrated, by way of non-limiting example, in the accompanying drawings, in which:

Figure 1 is a perspective view of an improved base structure according to the invention;

Figure 2 is a schematic view of a cross-sectional portion of an improved base structure according to the invention;

Figure 3 illustrates a semi-finished product of an improved base structure according to the invention.

With reference to the aforementioned figures, an improved pad structure for cycling shorts according to the invention is indicated as a whole with the number 10.

This improved bottom structure 10 is characterized by the fact that it comprises

- a first layer 11 of fabric, facing a user in use order,

a second intermediate layer 12 in soft polyurethane foam,

a third intermediate layer 13 in high-density polyurethane foam,

- a fourth layer 14 facing outwards when in use, in breathable filter foam, to protect the anatomical parts.

The second layer 12, in soft polyurethane foam, has a density between 50 Kg / m <3> and 80 Kg / m <3>, and preferably 65 Kg / m <3>; this second layer 12 has the peculiarity of being seam workable and therefore can be involved, together with the first fabric layer 11, by the fastening seams to a cycling shorts.

The third layer 13, in high density polyurethane foam, has a density between 100 Kg / m <3> and 140 Kg / m <3>, and preferably of 120 Kg / m <3>; this third high density layer 13 acts substantially as a support for the subsequent fourth layer 14.

The fourth layer 14, transpiring and protecting the anatomical parts, is made up of a polyether-based polyurethane foam, cross-linked, has a density between 60 Kg / m <3> and 100 Kg / m <3>, and preferably 80 Kg / m <3>; this fourth layer 14 is called 'filter' since it has the peculiarity of letting the air pass and absorbing sweat and liquids in general, without however retaining them but allowing their evaporation, thus remaining substantially dry; being breathable, it ensures, in addition to protecting the anatomical parts, also a certain temperature control in the same areas.

The second layer 12, in soft polyurethane foam, has a thickness of between 3 mm. and 5 mm., and preferably 4 mm.

The third layer 13, in high-density polyurethane foam, has a thickness of between 3 mm. and 5 mm., and preferably 4 mm.

The fourth layer 14, breathable and protective of the anatomical parts, a thickness between 6 mm. and 10 mm., and preferably 8 mm.

These layers 11, 12, 13, 14 are joined together with cold cross-linking glue, to define a multilayer block 20, as shown in Figure 3.

The improved structure of the bottom 10 has, as clearly visible from figure 1,

embossed parts with a progressively greater thickness from the edge towards the inside, such as the first parts 15, of greater thickness than the first layer 11 in fabric, and second parts 16, of greater thickness than the first part 15;

- and anatomical reliefs, for example the reliefs 17, 18, for supporting, for example, the ischial extremities of a user.

These parts in relief 15 and 16 and anatomical reliefs 17 and 18 are uncompressed, i.e. they are presented to use without having undergone prestressing processes that have reduced their thickness and softness, and therefore with the transpiration and shock absorption capacities that are those of the original materials.

These parts in relief with progressively greater thickness from the edge towards the inside 15, 16 and said anatomical reliefs 17, 18 are made by means of processing with removal of material starting from the multilayer block 20.

In particular, said relief parts 15 and 16 and said anatomical reliefs 17 and 18 are made by skiving processes.

In practice it has been found that the invention achieves the intended aim and objects.

In particular, the invention provides an improved bottom structure that is more comfortable and at the same time no less breathable than known pads.

Furthermore, the invention provides an improved pad structure that is anatomically compatible with the athlete's needs.

In addition, the invention provides an improved pad structure which can be applied to shorts of a known type with per se known techniques. Furthermore, the invention provides an improved bottom structure without rigid points or parts crushed by thermoforming, to the advantage of overall softness and comfort.

Furthermore, the invention provides an improved bottom structure made without post-forming gluing, the layers of which are firmly joined before the shaping processes by material removal.

The invention thus conceived is susceptible of numerous modifications and variations, all of which are within the scope of the inventive concept; moreover, all the details can be replaced by other technically equivalent elements.

In practice, the materials employed, so long as they are compatible with the specific use, as well as the contingent shapes and dimensions, may be any according to requirements and to the state of the art.

Where the features and techniques mentioned in any claim are followed by reference marks, these marks have been affixed for the sole purpose of increasing the intelligibility of the claims and consequently such reference marks have no limiting effect on the interpretation of each element. identified by way of example by these reference signs.
