 カプセル内に封入する液体を蒸留水としたカプセルCA-2を製造し、破断強度を測定した。カプセルCA-2は食用のプラスチック素材である低密度ポリスチレンを用い、射出成形により作製した。カプセルCA-2内の空間に蒸留水90%(v/v)を注入し、ポリアミド/低密度ポリエチレンラミネートフィルム(KIMURA-TEC,NY/LDPE、60μm)で開口端をヒートシールすることにより完全に密閉し、蒸留水を含有したカプセルを得た。
 カプセルの破断強度はクリープメータ(RHEOMETERII、株式会社山電製)により測定した。その様子と測定の結果を図8に示す。
 同じカプセルCA-2を製造して、外力を印加する方向を異ならせた。試験Aは薄肉域10cが形成してある側壁に外力を加えた場合、試験Bは薄肉域10c平行に外力が加わるようにした本発明対応の場合である。
 試験Aの場合はカプセルの破壊荷重が95.6Nであったのに対して、試験Bの場合は29.6Nであり、破壊に必要な力が極めて少なくてよいことが確認された。

In the case of Test A, the breaking load of the capsule was 95.6 N, whereas in the case of Test B, it was 29.6 N, and it was confirmed that the force required for breaking may be extremely small.

 図5A、Bに例示したカプセルCA-2は円柱状であってその側壁10に環線状の薄肉域を設ける場合で、これを立姿勢でセットするものであった。
 しかし、カプセルCA-2は円柱状に限らず、例えば図9に示すように角柱状(ここでは四角柱(直方体)としてある)であるカプセルCA-3としてもよい。角柱とすることで収納空間204内での姿勢を安定化させることができる。この場合、4つの側壁に薄肉域10cが形成される。このようなカプセルCA-3は軸線方向と側壁とが平行となるように収納空間204内に配置すれば前後・左右の側壁となるが、これに限らず図9で示すように角部を前に突出させるような立ち姿勢として収納空間204内に配置してもよい。
 なお、各カプセルCA(CA-1、CA-2、CA-3)の位置をより確実に安定させるために、必要に応じてフィルタ要素に用いた繊維などを流用して収納空間204内での隙間を埋めて位置ずれを防止する様にしてもよい。また、上記ケーシング201の内面に位置決め用の突起部を付加し、この突起部でカプセルCAを周囲から押さえ位置決めするなどの構造を採用してもよい。このようにカプセルCAの位置を安定させた場合、第1フィルタ部、第2フィルタ部の一方もしくは両方は必ずしも必要ではない。この点に関して前述した実施例では、第1フィルタ部と第2フィルタ部との間に形成した空間を、フィルタ本体部内の収納空間として利用する場合を説明している。しかし、これは好適例であって、収納空間の形態はこれに限らないということである。

  1.  筒形状の側面を構成する側壁と、前記筒形状の前後の開口それぞれを閉じる一対の端壁とを有し内部には液体が封入されていると共に、少なくとも前記側壁は弾性変形可能であって、当該側壁には周方向に沿って設けた少なくとも1つの環線状のメイン薄肉域、又は、前記周方向と垂直な軸線方向に沿って設けた少なくとも1つの直線状のメイン薄肉域が設けてあるカプセルと、
     前記カプセルを収納する収納空間を含んで形成してある略円筒状のフィルタ本体部とを含み、
     前記環線状のメイン薄肉域又は前記直線状のメイン薄肉域が延在する方向と、前記フィルタ本体部の半径方向とが、平行となるようにして、前記収納空間内に前記カプセルが収納してある、ことを特徴とするカプセルを搭載したフィルタ。
