Abstract
異物の混入などを防ぎつつ、光出射部の損傷を受けやすい部分を交換可能とする光音響用のプローブを提供する。音響波検出器24は、音響波を検出する。光出射部を構成する第1の導光部材21及び第2の導光部材23は、光進行方向に対して直列に並んでいる。枠体11は、第1の導光部材21、第2の導光部材23、及び音響波検出器24を保持する。被検体側である第1の導光部材21は、枠体11に着脱不能に固定される。一方、光源側である第2の導光部材23は、枠体11に着脱可能に固定される。
Description
本発明は、プローブに関し、更に詳しくは、光音響波の計測に用いられるプローブに関する。
生体内部の状態を非侵襲で検査できる画像検査法の一種として、超音波検査法が知られている。超音波検査では、超音波の送信及び受信が可能なプローブ(探触子)が用いられる。プローブから被検体(生体)に超音波を送信させると、その超音波は生体内部を進んでいき、組織界面で反射する。プローブでその反射音波を受信し、反射超音波がプローブに戻ってくるまでの時間に基づいて距離を計算することで、内部の様子を画像化することができる。
また、光音響効果を利用して生体の内部を画像化する光音響イメージングが知られている。一般に光音響イメージングでは、パルスレーザ光を生体内に照射する。生体内部では、生体組織がパルスレーザ光のエネルギーを吸収し、そのエネルギーによる断熱膨張により超音波(光音響信号)が発生する。この光音響信号をプローブなどで検出し、検出信号に基づいて光音響画像を構成することで、光音響信号に基づく生体内の可視化が可能である。
光音響イメージングでは、パルスレーザ光をレーザ光源からプローブまで導光し、プローブに設けられた光出射部からパルスレーザ光を照射することがある。光出射部を有するプローブは、例えば特許文献1に記載されている。特許文献1では、バンドルファイバを用いて、レーザ光源からの光をプローブまで導光する。バンドルファイバの光出射端は、被検体に光を照射する光出射部を構成し、超音波振動子と共にハウジングに装着される。
また、特許文献2には、光ファイバなどを用いてプローブまで導光された光を、プローブ内に配置された導光板を介して被検体に照射するプローブが記載されている。特許文献2では、導光板(導光部材)は2つの導光部材で構成される。2つの導光部材のうち、光入射側の導光部材はガラスから成り、光出射側の導光部材は樹脂から成る。特許文献2には、光出射側の導光部材の光入射面を、光を拡散させる拡散面とすることも記載されている。
ここで、光音響イメージングでは、照射される光の光強度が比較的高い。光ファイバなどから導光板に対して光を入射し、導光板から被検体に対する光出射を行う場合、光照射を繰り返していくうちに、導光板の光入射面が損傷を受けることがあると考えられる。通常、導光板(光出射部)はプローブの先端に接着されるなどして固定されており、光出射部をプローブから簡単に取り外すことはできない。光出射部をプローブから取り外し可能とすることもできるが、その場合、プローブの先端がシールされなくなり、ハウジングと光出射部との間に隙間できる。
本発明は、上記に鑑み、隙間を防止しつつ、光出射部の損傷を受けやすい部分を交換可能とした光音響用のプローブを提供することを目的とする。
上記目的を達成するために、本発明は、音響波を検出するための音響波検出器と、光源からの光を被検体方向へ出射する光出射部と、音響波検出器及び光出射部を保持する枠体とを備え、光出射部が、光の進行方向に対して直列に並ぶ第1の導光部材及び第2の導光部材を含み、被検体側に位置する第1の導光部材は枠体に着脱不能に固定され、かつ光源側に位置する第2の導光部材は枠体に着脱可能に固定されることを特徴とするプローブを提供する。
本発明では、第1の導光部材は枠体に接着固定される構成を採用できる。その場合、接着に用いられる接着剤の屈折率は第1の導光部材の屈折率よりも低いことが好ましい。
本発明においては、第1の導光部材は枠体と一体的に形成された透明ゴムから成っていてもよい。透明とは、光をあまり減衰させることなく透過させることを意味し、例えば入射光の85%以上の光を透過するものを透明であると定義する。
光出射部は、第1の導光部材と第2の導光部材との間に光拡散層を有していてもよい。
上記の光拡散層としてレンズ拡散板を用いることができる。その場合、レンズ拡散板と枠体との固定には、白色顔料を含む接着剤を用いることが好ましい。
本発明では、光拡散層と第1の導光部材とは隙間を隔てて対向することが好ましい。
第1の導光部材の光入射側の面の幅は、第2の導光部材の光出射側の面の幅よりも広いことが好ましい。
第1の導光部材の光入射面と光出射面を除く側面が枠体により囲まれることとしてもよい。
音響波検出器は少なくとも一次元的に配列された複数の検出器素子を含み、光出射部は、音響波検出器と隣り合って、複数の検出器素子の配列方向と直交する方向の少なくとも一方の側に位置していてもよい。
光源からの光を第2の導光部材の光入射面まで導光する光配線は複数の光ファイバを含むバンドルファイバを含んでいてもよく、複数の光ファイバの光出射端は複数の検出器素子の配列方向と同じ方向に並べられていてもよい。
本発明のプローブは、第2の導光部材に着脱可能に取り付けられ、複数の光ファイバの光出射端を第2の導光部材の光入射面に沿って配列させるファイバガイドを更に有する構成であってもよい。
本発明のプローブでは、光出射を繰り返していくうちに第2の導光部材が損傷を受けた場合でも、第2の導光部材の交換が容易である。一方で、枠体と第1の導光部材との隙間を塞ぐことができる。
以下、図面を参照し、本発明の実施の形態を詳細に説明する。図1は、本発明の一実施形態のプローブを含む光音響計測装置(光音響画像画像生成装置)を示す。光音響画像生成装置は、プローブ10、光源ユニット31、及び超音波ユニット32を備える。光源ユニット31は、例えばパルスレーザ光を生成するレーザユニットである。超音波ユニット32は、プローブ10で検出された信号を処理する信号処理ユニットである。
プローブ10は、被検体に向けて光を出射する光出射部と、少なくとも被検体からの音響波が検出可能な音響波検出器とを有する。プローブ10は、光ファイバなどの光配線27を介して光源ユニット31と接続される。光配線27は、例えば複数本の光ファイバを含む。光源ユニット31から出射した光は、光配線27によりプローブ10まで導光され、プローブ10の光出射部から被検体に向けて出射される。プローブ10は、被検体に対して光が照射された後、光照射に起因して被検体内で発生した光音響波を検出する。
プローブ10は、電気配線28を介して超音波ユニット32と接続される。プローブ10が検出した光音響波の検出信号(光音響信号)は、電気配線28により超音波ユニット32に伝送され、超音波ユニット32で処理される。超音波ユニット32は、光音響信号に基づいて光音響画像を生成する。光音響画像の生成は、光音響信号の再構成、検波・対数変換などを含む。なお、画像の生成は必須ではなく、超音波ユニット32において、光音響信号に対して何らかの信号処理を施すだけでもよい。
図2は、プローブの側面方向の断面を示す。プローブ10は、第1の導光部材21、拡散板22、第2の導光部材23、音響波検出器24、及び基板25を有する。第1の導光部材21、拡散板22、及び第2の導光部材23は、光源からの光を被検体方向に出射する光出射部を構成する。光出射部を構成する第1の導光部材21、拡散板22、及び第2の導光部材23と、音響波検出器24とは、プローブ10の先端部分を構成する枠体11に保持される。なお、拡散板22は省略してもよい。
第1の導光部材21及び第2の導光部材23は、光の進行方向に対して直列に並べられている。第2の導光部材23の光入射端には光配線27の光出射端が光学的に結合される。第2の導光部材23は、光配線27から入射した光源からの光を被検体方向に導光する。第2の導光部材23を出射した光は、光拡散層に相当する拡散板22で拡散された後に、第1の導光部材21の光入射面に入射する。第1の導光部材21と第2の導光部材23との間に拡散板22が設けられていることで、照明むらの低減が可能である。第1の導光部材21の光入射面側の面の幅は、第2の導光部材23の光出射側の面の幅よりも広くなっている。導光部材の光入射側又は光出射面側の幅は、例えば矩形状の光入射面又は光出射面の双方又は一方の長さで定義される。第1の導光部材21は、光出射面から被検体に対して拡散光を出射する。
音響波検出器24は、被検体からの音響波を検出する。音響波検出器24は、例えば少なくとも1次元的に配列された複数の超音波振動子(検出器素子)を有する。音響波検出器24には基板25が接続され、基板25には電気配線28が接続される。基板25には、例えば音響波検出器24で検出された光音響信号を増幅する増幅器などが搭載される。音響波検出器24で検出された光音響信号は、基板25上の増幅器で増幅された後、電気配線28を介して超音波ユニット32(図1を参照)に送信される。音響波検出器24及び基板25は、フレーム26に取り付けられる。
図2では、第1の導光部材21、拡散板22、及び第2の導光部材23で構成される光出射部が、音響波検出器24と隣り合って、音響波検出器24における超音波振動子の配列方向と直交する方向の両側に設けられている。しかしながら、光出射部は必ずしも両側に設けられている必要はなく、片側にだけ設ける構成としてもよい。第1の導光部材21の光出射面は、音響波検出器24の音響波検出面のすぐ隣に位置しており、音響波検出器24の直近から、被検体に光を照射できる。また、光出射部は、出射する光が長方形状の音響波検出器の短手方向の中心側に向けられるように、音響波検出器24の音響波検出面に対して、例えば0°より大きく45°以下の角度で傾けて配置されている。このようにすることで、音響波検出器24の直下に光を照射できる。
図3は、枠体11を第2の導光部材23を取り付ける側から見た斜視図である。図4に図3のA-A断面を示し、図5に図3のB-B断面を示す。図4及び図5に示すように、枠体11は、第1の導光部材21を取り付けるための収容部14、拡散板22を取り付けるための収容部15、及び、第2の導光部材23を取り付けるための収容部16を有する。また、図4に示すように、中央に、音響波検出器24を取り付けるための収容部17を有する。第1の導光部材21を取り付けるための収容部14の幅は、拡散板22を取り付けるための収容部15の幅よりも広い。また、拡散板22を取り付けるための収容部15の幅は、第2の導光部材23を取り付けるための収容部16の幅よりも広い。
図6は、第1の導光部材21と拡散板22とを示す斜視図である。プローブ10の組み立てに際して、拡散板22が枠体11の収容部15(図4及び図5を参照)に取り付けられる。拡散板22は、例えば接着剤などを用いて枠体11に固定される。拡散板22の取り付け後、第1の導光部材21が収容部14に取り付けられる。第1の導光部材21は、例えば接着剤などを用いて枠体11に固定される。第1の導光部材21を接着する際に用いられる接着剤には、屈折率が第1の導光部材21の屈折率よりも低いものを用いるとよい。接着剤には、例えばEpoxy Technology, Inc.社製のエポキシ系接着剤EPO-TEK 302-FLやEPO-TEK 301、信越化学社製の液状ゴムKE-44-Tが使用可能である。導光部材の光入射面又は光出射面への接着剤のはみ出し(回り込み)を抑えるために、接着剤を導光部材の側面に塗布した後に、枠体11に取り付けることが好ましい。
図7に、第1の導光部材21が取り付けられた枠体11を示す。拡散板22は、被検体側から見て第1の導光部材21の奥に固定される。第1の導光部材21は、接着剤などを用いて枠体11に着脱不能に固定される。第1の導光部材21は、好ましくは、拡散板22に面する光入射面と被検体への光出射面を除く4つの面が枠体11により取り囲まれて位置決めされ、接着固定される。第1の導光部材21を枠体11に着脱不能に固定することで、隙間の発生などを防ぐことができる。
図8は、基板25を示す。基板25には、光音響信号を増幅する増幅器などが搭載される。これに加えて、AD変換器(Analog-to-digital converter)を搭載することとしてもよい。図9は、音響波検出器24を示す。音響波検出器24は、例えば長手方向に沿って1次元的に配列された複数の超音波振動子(音響波検出器素子)を有する。図10は、フレーム26を示す。フレーム26の表面及び裏面には、それぞれ図8に示す基板25が取り付けられる。また、フレーム26の一方の端部に、図9に示す音響波検出器24が取り付けられる。フレーム26への音響波検出器24の取り付け後、音響波検出器24がフレーム26ごと枠体の収容部17(図4を参照)に固定される。
図11は、枠体11にフレーム26を取り付けた状態を示す。同図では、第2の導光部材23には、ファイバガイド29が取り付けられている。ファイバガイド29には、例えば光配線27(図1を参照)に用いられるバンドルファイバの素線が、第2の導光部材23の光入射面の長手方向に沿って並べられる。バンドルファイバの各素線は、ファイバガイド29により、第2の導光部材23の光入射面に対して位置決めされる。ファイバガイド29は、例えば長手方向の両側の側面から第2の導光部材23を押さえこむことで第2の導光部材23に取り付けられており、第2の導光部材23に対して着脱可能となっている。
第2の導光部材23は、枠体11の収容部16(図4及び図5を参照)に差し込まれ、収容部16に固定される。第2の導光部材23の固定に際しては接着剤などは用いられず、第2の導光部材23は、枠体11に対して着脱可能に固定される。第2の導光部材23は、例えば枠体11に嵌合固定される。第2の導光部材23は、側面と枠体11の収容部16の側面とが面接触することで枠体11に固定される。あるいは、枠体11の収容部16の側面にいくつかの突起を設け、突起部分が接触することで枠体11に固定されてもよい。
図12に、第2の導光部材23を固定した状態を示す。第2の導光部材23は枠体11に接着されておらず、着脱可能であるため、交換が容易である。一方、第2の導光部材23の被検体側には第1の導光部材21が存在しており、第1の導光部材21は接着などにより枠体11に着脱不能に固定されているため、隙間の発生を防止できる。第2の導光部材23の固定後、外装カバー12(図2を参照)が取り付けられる。
図13Aはプローブ10の中身を側面方向から見た図であり、図13Bはプローブ10の中身を正面方向から見た図である。なお、図13A及び図13Bでは枠体11やファイバガイド29を省略して図示している。プローブ10には光配線27と電気配線28(図1を参照)を含む電気と光の複合ケーブルが接続される。複合ケーブルにおいて、光配線27は中央部分に配置され、電気配線28は光配線27の外側に配置される。
光配線27には例えばバンドルファイバが用いられ、バンドルファイバを構成する各光ファイバの光出射端が、第2の導光部材23の光入射面に、超音波振動子の配列方向と同じ方向に沿って並べられる。超音波振動子の配列方向と同じ方向とは例えば±20°の範囲である。基板25の音響波検出器24と反対側の中央部には切り欠き29が設けられている。基板25に切り欠き29が設けられることで、複合ケーブルの中央部分から第2の導光部材23の光入射端まで光配線27を引きまわす際に、基板25と光配線27との干渉を防ぐことができる。電気配線28は、主に基板25の切り欠き29の両側に接続される。
第2の導光部材23を交換する際には、まず、外装カバー12(図2を参照)を取り外し、プローブ10の中身が見えるようにする。次いで、光配線27を、第2の導光部材23の光入射面から取り外す。その後、第2の導光部材23を枠体11から引き抜き、新しい第2の導光部材23を枠体11に差し込んで固定する。そして、光配線27の光出射端を第2の導光部材23の光入射面に取り付けた後に、外装カバー12を取り付ける。
本実施形態では、光出射部は、光の進行方向に対して直列に並べられた第1の導光部材21と第2の導光部材23とを含む。光出射側である第1の導光部材21は枠体11に対して着脱不能に固定されるのに対し、第2の導光部材23は枠体11に着脱可能に固定される。被検体と接触する第1の導光部材21を枠体11に例えば接着固定することで、第1の導光部材21と枠体11との間の隙間をなくすことができる。一方、第1の導光部材21よりも光源側に位置する第2の導光部材23を例えば嵌合固定とし、枠体11から取り外すことができるようにすることで、光配線27から光を入射する端面に損傷が生じた場合に、第2の導光部材23を容易に交換することができる。
なお、上記実施形態では、第1の導光部材21と第2の導光部材23との間の光拡散層として拡散板22を用いる例について説明したが、光拡散層は、必ずしも第1の導光部材21及び第2の導光部材23と別体に構成されている必要はない。例えば第2の導光部材23の光出射側に光拡散層や光拡散面を形成し、第1の導光部材21に拡散光が入射するようにしてもよい。具体的には、第2の導光部材23の光出射側の端面に光を拡散させるための凹凸を形成し、第2の導光部材23の光出射側の端面を光拡散面としてもよい。あるいは、第1の導光部材21上に光拡散層を形成し、被検体に向けて拡散光が出射されるようにしてもよい。
また、上記実施形態では、主に第1の導光部材21を枠体11に接着固定する例について説明したが、これには限定されない。例えば枠体11を射出形成で形成する際に、第1の導光部材21を型の中に配置し、型の中に樹脂などを充てんすることで、枠体11の形成と枠体11への第1の導光部材21の固定とを同時に行うこととしてもよい。あるいは、枠体11の形成後に、透明ゴムやエポキシ樹脂などの透明接着樹脂を枠体11内でモールドし、透明接着樹脂を第1の導光部材21としてもよい。
図14は、透明接着樹脂をモールドするときの枠体11と型の断面を示す。この例では、第1の導光部材と第2の導光部材との間の拡散板は省略される。第1の導光部材21の形成に際して、枠体11を、モールド用の型41の中に配置する。型41は、例えばいくつかのピースで構成された金型である。枠体11の第2の導光部材23を取り付けるための収容部16や、音響波検出器24(図2を参照)を取り付けるための収容部17は、型41で塞がれる。
枠体11と型41との間には、第1の導光部材22の形状に対応した空洞42が形成される。型41によってできた空洞42に透明接着樹脂を流し込み硬化させると、透明接着樹脂は枠体11と一体化する。硬化した透明接着樹脂が第1の導光部材21となる。透明接着樹脂には、例えば信越化学KE-109、KE-106などの透明ゴムが用いられる。
第1の導光部材21と枠体11とは連続的に形成してもよい。例えば、型の中に樹脂を充てんして枠体11を射出形成する。次いで、型から枠体11を取り出さずに、型の一部を除去して型と枠体11との間に空洞42を形成する。その後、透明接着樹脂を空洞42に流し込んで硬化させることで枠体11と一体化した第1の導光部材21を形成する。
図15は、枠体11の斜視図である。この枠体11は、収容部17側の壁に溝43を有する。透明接着樹脂を枠体11と型41との間に形成された空洞42に充てんして硬化させるとき、透明接着樹脂が空洞42内に行き渡らないと、形成不良が発生する。図17に示すように枠体11が溝43を有する場合、溝43により、透明接着樹脂の充てん時に、空洞42内の空気や透明接着樹脂の一部を型41の外部に排出することができる。従って、透明接着樹脂の充てんをスムーズに実施することができ、形成不良や第1の導光部材21と枠体11との間の隙間の発生を抑制できる。
図16は、透明接着樹脂をモールドするときの枠体11と型の別の例の断面を示す。この例では、第1の導光部材21をモールドする前に、例えば透明接着剤などを用いて枠体11に拡散板22を取り付ける。拡散板22を枠体11に取り付けた後に、枠体11を型41の中に配置する。枠体11と型41との間に形成された空洞42に透明接着樹脂を流し込み硬化させることで、拡散板22と第1の導光部材21とを枠体11と一体化させることができる。拡散板22の取り付けに用いる透明接着剤には、紫外線硬化樹脂、例えばDIC株式会社製の低屈折率紫外線硬化樹脂OP-3801を使うことができる。硬化のために紫外線を照射すると、拡散板22と枠体11の表面が処理されて、透明接着樹脂との密着性が向上する。
拡散板22の枠体11への取付けを容易にするために、枠体11に拡散板22をはめ込む溝を設けてもよい。図17は、枠体11の先端部分の断面を示す。枠体11の先端部分は、拡散板22が取り付けられる位置の一方の側に溝44を有する。拡散板22の取り付けでは、溝44に接着剤を充てんした後に、拡散板22の一方の側を溝44に差し込む。枠体11の先端の他方の側の面は平坦面となっており、その平坦面に接着剤を塗布した後に、拡散板22の他方の側を平坦面に貼りつける。このようにすることで、拡散板22の取り付けが容易となる。
拡散板22にはレンズ拡散板を用いることができる。レンズ拡散板は、例えばランダムに配置された微小なレンズを表面に多数有しており、そのランダムに配置された微小レンズにより光を拡散させる。レンズ拡散板は、光を円形に拡散整形するものであっても、楕円形に拡散整形するものであってもよい。円整形レンズ拡散板の場合、拡散角は20°~80°であることが好ましい。楕円整形レンズ拡散板の場合、拡散角は75°×45°、90°×25°、90°×60°などが好ましい。レンズ拡散板には、Luminit社製のポリカーボネート製又はポリエステル製のLSDスタンダードが利用できる。
レンズ拡散板の枠体11への固定には、光拡散性が強い接着剤を用いることが好ましい。これは、レンズ拡散面に接着剤が付着すると、その部分の光拡散性が失われ、局所的に強い光が出射する可能性があるためである。光拡散性を有する接着剤を用いた場合、レンズ拡散板のレンズ拡散面に接着剤が付着した場合でも、接着剤の光拡散性によって光を拡散させることができる。接着剤には、例えば白色顔料入りのシリコーンゴムなどの白色顔料を含む接着剤を用いることができる。白色顔料としては、例えばTiO2が挙げられる。TiO2の含有率は、1wt%~20wt%が好ましい。具体的には、信越化学社製の液状ゴムKE-45-Wを用いることができる。
図2や図13Aでは、拡散板22と第2の導光部材23との間に隙間が設けられていない例を示したが、これには限定されない。拡散板22と第2の導光部材23とが隙間を隔てて対向するようにしてもよい。例えば、第2の導光板23に取り付けられたファイバガイド29が、枠体11に突き当たることで、第2の導光板23の拡散板22方向への移動を抑制することで、拡散板22と第2の導光部材23との間に隙間を設けるようにしてもよい。
以上、本発明をその好適な実施形態に基づいて説明したが、本発明のプローブは、上記実施形態にのみ限定されるものではなく、上記実施形態の構成から種々の修正及び変更を施したものも、本発明の範囲に含まれる。

前記音響波検出器及び前記光出射部を保持する枠体とを備え、
前記光出射部は、光の進行方向に対して直列に並ぶ第1の導光部材及び第2の導光部材を含み、被検体側に位置する第1の導光部材が前記枠体に着脱不能に固定され、かつ光源側に位置する第2の導光部材が前記枠体に着脱可能に固定されるプローブ。 - 前記第1の導光部材は、前記枠体に接着固定されている請求項1に記載のプローブ。
- 前記接着に用いられる接着剤の屈折率は前記第1の導光部材の屈折率よりも低い請求項2に記載のプローブ。
- 前記第1の導光部材は、前記枠体と一体的に形成された透明ゴムから成る請求項1に記載のプローブ。
- 前記光出射部は、前記第1の導光部材と前記第2の導光部材との間に光拡散層を有する請求項1から4何れか1項に記載のプローブ。
- 前記光拡散層がレンズ拡散板である請求項5に記載のプローブ。
- 前記レンズ拡散板は、白色顔料を含む接着剤により前記枠体に接着固定される請求項6に記載のプローブ。
- 前記光拡散層と前記第1の導光部材とが隙間を隔てて対向する請求項5から7何れか1項に記載のプローブ。
- 前記第1の導光部材の光入射側の面の幅は、前記第2の導光部材の光出射側の面の幅よりも広い請求項5から8何れか1項に記載のプローブ。
- 前記第1の導光部材の光入射面と光出射面を除く側面が前記枠体により囲まれている請求項1から9何れか1項に記載のプローブ。
- 前記音響波検出器が少なくとも一次元的に配列された複数の検出器素子を含み、前記光出射部は、前記音響波検出器と隣り合って、前記複数の検出器素子の配列方向と直交する方向の少なくとも一方の側に位置している請求項1から10何れか1項に記載のプローブ。
- 光源からの光を前記第2の導光部材の光入射面まで導光する光配線は複数の光ファイバを含むバンドルファイバを含み、前記複数の光ファイバの光出射端は前記複数の検出器素子の配列方向と同じ方向に並べられる請求項11に記載のプローブ。
- 前記第2の導光部材に着脱可能に取り付けられ、前記光ファイバの光出射端を前記第2の導光部材の光入射面に沿って配列させるファイバガイドを更に有する請求項12に記載のプローブ。
