Description

TITLE OF INVENTION
Sound proof Sliding / rolling window / door system with enhanced closed track ball mechanism and any position locking system
Technical field of invention :
Present invention generally relates to the design and mechanism for sliding doors and windows used generally in buildings, including but not limited to private homes, apartments and commercial buildings having fixed frames and, in this frame, at least one glazed panel which cooperates with guide means associated with the frame and guiding the panel so as to move along the frame. More particularly present invention relates to system design (Design of the profiles / sections) and rolling / sliding mechanism for construction of sliding doors and windows along with some new features introduced in sliding windows & doors, like enhanced closed track system design, ball rolling mechanism with design, mechanism / technique for construction of sound proof glass doors and windows, pull down mosquito screen and pull up privacy screen which is incorporated in the same window frame or sections & any position locking mechanism for sliding shutters which enables the shutter to be locked at any position.
Prior art:
Numerous mechanisms have been devised to facilitate securing a window, door or other movable closure panel while permitting the closure member to be readily reopened as needed. A number of such devices have recognized the advantage of duel motion that can be achieved by latching mechanisms which include both rotational and translational components.
In the prevailing Technique / Procedure / Design of the Sliding Window or Door system (Aluminium, UPVC, Wooden, Wooden- Aluminium, Steel Profile Windows / Doors) the window / door is fabricated with two types of sections majorly, TRACK Section & SHUTTER Section. Track sections forms the outer frame of the window and the Shutter sections forms the inner frame in which the glass is fixed. In the Terminology of sliding window / door, Glass fixed in the "shutter section" forms a Glass shutter and the Glass Shutter Slides between the "tracks section" of the outer frame formed by the Track Sections.
Due to prevailing Technique / Procedure / Design of the Sliding Window or Door system and climatic conditions the dust saturates in the Track section & dust in combination with rain water forms mud and once the mud gets in to the bearing under the Shutter Section, it clogs in to the outer and inner body of the bearing and averts the main function of the ball bearing and actually the bearing wheel stops revolving and starts chafing / Rasping on the Track Stud. This Abrasion finally results in the complete wrecking / breaking of the Plastic or Nylon Bearing Wheel which is the part of Rolling assembly attached to the shutter.
This breaking of the Plastic / Fiber Bearing Wheel completely stops the functioning of the sliding window, because there are only two bearings installed under each shutter. When one fails the other one cannot balance the shutter. Opening & Closing of the sliding window shutter in this situation becomes agonizing / excruciating and painful; even there are chances of Glass breaking due to this abrasion sliding. Once the Bearing Wheel breaks, the glass shutter loses its Alignment / Grouping with the lock assembly and the locking becomes chaotic.
_Thoug h_the_prev ili ng—P oduc^^
Window System offer more durable and lasting wheel bearings the problem is apparently reduced but of course not sorted out.
The drawback of dirty / unclean / foul track to accumulate / gather dirt still prevails even in latest Technique / Designs / Products available in the market as on date.
The Prevailing Products available in the Aluminium Sliding Windows & Doors, functions / operates in one typical methodology and design system in which the system design & the material used cannot make the window 100% Air Tight or Leak Proof which leads to the severe , energy losses and the very worst Rattling and Banging of windows against the speedy winds. The new invented System Design which because of its Design mainly makes the Windows & Doors ,100% Air Tight & Leak Proof against the Air, Dust, Water which eliminates the Disadvantages of Energy Losses and Rattling of Windows against the speedy winds.
In this regard US Pat number 8336269 provides drainage pathway, which is comprised of at least one groove, for liquid drainage. Optionally it also provides one connector groove that may intersect two drainage grooves.
Another aspect of the present invention relates to the locking system as sliding Window Can be Locked at only Completely Closed position, in short if the Sliding Window is partially open it is not at all Locked since the Locking is fixed on the Side Section of the Track Frame, that's why the Sliding Window needs to be Closed to be' Locked. For example U.S pat No 261998 discloses a sash holder in which a cylinder having a spiral groove is rotated adjacent to a plate having an outwardly projecting stud which engages the spiral groove. The plate is mounted on the window frame, while the rotating cylinder is mounted on the slash. As the cylinder is rotated, the stud engages and imparts forces to the cylinder, causing the cylinder to translate along its longitudinal axis, thereby locking the window slash in place.
US pat no 3179454 discloses a sash locking arrangement which permits a sash to be locked at intermediate positions along the window frame. A pair of inclined surfaces defines a spiral groove in which a finger travels, the finger being attached to a rotatable shaft. The inclined surfaces are rigidly attached to a handle which may be moved parallel to the longitudinal axis of the rotating shaft.
Present invention provides a Locking System which is specially designed in order to enable the user to lock the Sliding Window even at any Open Position. This aspect of the invention adds the safety ' feature of the prevalent sliding doors and windows.
Another aspect concerned with this technology is sound proofing of the door and window panels. As noise control constitute a rapidly growing economic policy concern for the construction industry. Areas with high acoustical isolation are desired and required for variety of purposes. Apartments, condominiums, hotels, schools and hospitals all require rooms with windows and doors that reduce the transmission of sound thereby minimizing, or eliminating, the disturbance to people in adjacent rooms.
While developing the sound proof glass doors and windows normally D.G.U. ' (Double Glass Unit) fitted in the Shutter Section is required for fabricating of Sound Proof Windows for which manufacturer is dependent on the Glass Processor who actually manufactures the Double Glazed Unit (DGU) which is the prime part in Sound Proof Windows & Doors. (Actually "Soundproof" is the property mainly dependant on the DGU or Glass Unit / Glass Panel fixed in windows because 80% body of the window is a Glass Panel. That's why D.G.U.'s which has the better Sound & Thermal insulation properties plays the Key Role in the making of "Soundproof Windows & Doors"
The dependency for D.G.U. on the Glass Processor escalates the ultimate cost of the Sound Proof Window & Door Product, same with the replacement of the DGU. After the breakage of DGU, no Window / Door Fabricator can fix the glass by himself, he has to get the D.G.U. manufactured by the ' processor, which takes lots of Time & Money also ultimately making the technology unaffordable for most of the users. For making a Sound Proof Window or Door the Window or Door fabricator has to get the DGU manufactured by the Glass processor and then fit it in the Shutter section used in fabricating a "Soundproof window or door".
Present invention attempts to provide a D.G.S. "Double Glass Shutter" section wherein the Profile Section accommodates two Separate Glass Panels to be fixed keeping the desired Air-Gap in between them which enables the entire Double Glass Shutter to perform like a Double Glazed Unit, producing same Sound proofing and heat insulating properties & the Product so developed require much lower cost & time.
Accordingly one exemplary embodiment of the present invention provides a Novel Design of Profile Sections which can be used in any type of Open able or Sliding windows & doors where the sections are made more compact, sleek, striking and 30 to 50 percent more sturdy than the prevailing sections by minimizing the Height & Width dimensions and by increasing the wall thickness dimensions. Further the conventional open track sliding system in conventional design is replaced by closed track system. Another exemplary embodiment of the present invention provides with a new Technique of "Any Position Locking" which will be used in Sliding Window & Door System which enables the user to lock the sliding door or window in any position.
In another exemplary embodiment of the present invention deals with construction of a novel design for Shutter Section DGS which will be used for construction of Sound Proof Windows & Doors.
In addition to the novel features and advantages mentioned above, other features and advantages of the present invention will be readily apparent from the following description of the drawings and exemplary embodiments.

Understanding that these drawings depict only typical embodiment of the invention and therefore not to be considered limiting on its scope, the invention will be described with additional specificity and details through the use of the accompanying drawing. Detailed description :
Present invention provides a closed Track Sliding System for any type of Sliding Windows & Doors. In the present invention firstly, the Shape & Size of the Profile Sections used in Sliding Windows & Doors is changed in fashion that the Track & Shutter will be acting in combination, as a CLOSED TRACK system. The sections are made more compact, sleek, striking which are 30 to 50 percent sturdier than the prevailing sections because we have minimised the Height & Width dimensions, increasing the wall thickness of the aluminium profiles from 18 gauge and bellow to standardised 16 gauge and above.
Present invention provides space for increasing the wall thickness of the profile section more than any other available devices in order to provide further durability to the structure and astonishingly the weight range & the price remains same to the existing devices/systems available.
Further in order to overcome the long prevalent Drawbacks in Existing Sliding Mechanism of Accumulation of Dust and Dirt in Track Sections, the Following invention provides a Closed Track mechanism, where the Track Section are designed in a Closed Box Type Profile. In the conventional / prevailing system, the sliding Stud on which the wheel bearing slides, while the Stud is connected to the Track and the Bearing Mechanism is connected or fixed on the Shutter.
In invented & developed Closed Track System, the inventor has connected the Sliding Stud to the Shutter Section and the Stud enters the Track Section through the opening enveloped by the Gasket to rest upon the Rolling. System which is inside the Track component.
In the conventional / prevailing system the bearing is fixed on shutter while the rolling / sliding stud is connected to the track. Whereas in the new invented /developed system we have connected the Rolling System Mechanism to the stud extruded with Shutter Section and the fixed Rolling System Mechanism once entered the closed track system horizontally inside the track while its production, will not come out of the Closed Track System Vertically giving the user optimum Security against the Wind Pressure and Force, Full entry by just taking out Shutter frame out of the Track Assembly which is Possible in any Sliding Aluminium Window System prevailing in the market. Invented Design of Closed Track System which is not available in the market in any form & enabling us to make a FIRST "Closed Track System Design" for Aluminium, UPVC, Wood-Aluminium, Wooden, Steel Profile or Any Type of Sliding Windows & Doors.
Further in order to seal slight gap left in between the Side Flanges of Closed Track System and Rolling Stud Connected to Rolling Mechanism / Rolling Assembly, a Gasket preferably made of any material like rubber, EPDM, Silicone, Polyurethane etc. may be provided over the opening from outside so that no gap is left for entry of any kind of Dust, Air, Rain Water or Insects or any other material inside the Closed Track System to get in the other side of the window.
Rolling Ball Mechanism:
Further we have to change the Rolling / Sliding technique from conventional / prevailing Plastic / Fibre Wheel Bearing to a more sustainable / dependable / unfailing Rolling Technique. As chances of failure were more we decided to eliminate the Plastic / Fibre wheel bearing since we did not want to involve any second material in the Rolling System. As a part of that we decided to change the Design of our Shutter Sliding Stud & Internal wall of the Track Section in such a manner that both the sections combining together will form housing or a body of a rolling mechanism. In short steel balls in between the shutter stud and internal horizontal wall of the track section will form an All Metal, Unfailing & Durable Sliding mechanism for the Sliding Windows & Doors.
Any position locking system :
In the Prevailing Systems / Products / Techniques available, the Sliding Window Can be Locked at only Completely Closed position, in short if the Sliding Window is partially open it is not at all Locked since the Locking is fixed on the Side Section of the Track Frame. Hence by way of present invention a locking system is provided by way of which user can lock the sliding mechanism at any position he/she desires and there is no need to completely close the window for locking . By way of this mechanism the security feature of the mechanism can be enhanced along with providing convenient option to user to decide extent of the mecha nism he/she desires to keep open and lock the device at the desired position.
Prevailing locki ng devices are fixed to the side sections of the shutter panel but in the novel design of "Any Position Locking" for shutters in sliding windows & doors the locking device / mechanism is fixed in the bottom section of the shutter panel, which simply works as a cam wheel attached to the shaft and on getting engaged with the Track frame bellow lifts the Shutter Panel upwards to be tighten in between Top & Bottom Track frames and disables / resists the Glass Shutter Panel to move or slide further.
Another embodiment of present invention provides with Double Glass Shutter Section having air gap in between for fabricating / making / manufacturing of Sound Proof Windows & Doors. In this regard we wa nted to overcome the enslavement / dependency on the Glass Processor who actually manufactures the Double Glazed Unit (D.G. U. ) which is the prime part in Sound Proof Windows & Doors as it's the D.G.U. or Double Glazed Unit which has the better Sound & Thermal insulation properties.
The dependency on the Glass Processor not only increases the time required for manufacturing but also escalates the ultimate cost of the Sound Proof Window & Door Product, same with the replacement of the DGU. After the breakage of DGU no Window / Door Fabricator can fix the glass by himself, he has to get the DGU manufactured by the processor which takes lots of Time & Money also.
For making a Sound Proof Window or Door the Window or Door fabricator has to get the DGU manufactured by the Glass processor and then fit it in the Shutter section used in fabricating a window or door.
In the present embodiment of Double Glass Shutter Section the Profile Section accommodates two Separate Glass Panels to be fixed keeping the desired Air-Gap in between them, which enables the entire Double Glass Shutter to perform like a Double Glazed Unit, producing same Sound & Thermal Properties at a much lower cost & time. For this purpose the Shutter section is designed in a way to accommodate two separate glass sheets with a desired air gap in between. The glass panels / sheets fixed to the Double Glass Shutter are sealed using conventional methodologies so that the air gap remains intact in between both panels / sheets. By this way a double glazed unit is formed which restricts passage of sound waves through the window or door so constructed and provides the ultimate sound proofing effect at much lower cost of manufacturing and maintenance along with eliminating the dependency on the D.G.U. manufacturer on the Glass Processor. Method of working :
In order to provide better understanding of the present invention one of the preferred embodiments is provided of the working of the invention. It can be better understood by the person skilled in the art that further modifications in the embodiment are possible within the true spirit and scope of the invention.
For the purpose of manufacturing of sliding door and window by way of present invention modification has been made in the track section as well as shutter section.
Initially the Shape & Size of the Profile Sections used in Sliding Windows & Doors has been changed. The sections are made more compact, sleek, striking and 30 to 50 percent sturdier than the prevailing sections, because the Height & Width dimensions are minimised, also it has been augmented or increased the wall thickness of the profile section and astonishingly the weight range & the price are very much at par with the available profile sections in the market. The track section of the sliding doors and windows are provided with closed track mechanism where the track sections are designed in a closed box type profile. Here the invented & developed design the Stud on which the Rolling assembly fits, is connected to the Shutter Section and the Stud enters the Track Section through small opening to rest upon the Track along with the Rolling System which is inside the Track. In the system Rolling Assembly is directly connected to the Stud in the shutter and the Rolling Assembly slides inside the track, enabling manufacturer to make a Closed Track System. Further in order to seal slight gap left in between the Shutter Stud and Track Flanges, a Gasket is provided in the Track Section, so that no gap is left for entry of any kind of Dust or any other Dirt inside the Track. For the Rolling assembly preferably steel balls and steel housings are used in between the shutter stud and internal horizontal wall of the track section which will form an All Metal, Unfailing & Durable Sliding mechanism for the Sliding Windows & Doors.
Further in order to provide user with an advantage of any position locking the slide, the locking mechanism is replaced from side section of sliding frame to lower section by way of which the user will be able to lock the slide at any position he/she desires to. For this Locking System a Cam Type wheel is fixed in the bottom section of the shutter panel, which on turning clock wisely up lifts the entire shutter panel locking it in between top and bottom Track sections which the disables the Shutter Panel from moving in any direction.
Two separate glass sheets are used in present invention maintaining an air gap in between both. The sheets are fitted in the frame which is designed in order to accommodate both sheets by maintaining the required air gap and sealed with conventional methodologies. By way of which a cost effective, and easy to maintain sound proof sliding glass window/ door is manufactured eliminating the need of D.G.U. manufacturer.
Additional advantages and modification will readily occur to those skilled in art. Therefore, the invention in its broader aspect is not limited to specific details and representative compositions described herein. Accordingly various modifications may be made without departing from the spirit or scope of the general invention Concept & Design as defined by the appended claims and their equivalents.
