- the macro base station 100 may correspond to a macro cell.
- the micro base stations 110, 120, 130 may also be referred to as low power base stations and may correspond to micro cells or femtocells. If the macro cell or micro cell establishes a connection with the wireless device 200, it may be a serving cell.
- the wireless device 200 should detect a large number of cells in the vicinity within a short time interval and measure the signal quality of the corresponding cell. Therefore, as in the conventional LTE system, only PSS or SSS transmitted through only one OFDM symbol in one subframe may have a problem in performing cell detection and synchronization. This is because a large number of micro base stations 110, 120, and 130 are installed in a specific area. The combination of PSS / SSS can represent only up to 504 cells and thus may be insufficient to detect all micro cells.
- a signal is required to enable the wireless device 200 to perform cell detection and synchronization with respect to the micro cell in a short time. In the following, this is called a discovery signal.
- the discovery signal is a signal for detecting a target cell (eg, a micro cell) separately from the PSS / SSS.
- the discovery signal can be used to measure the DL timing of the target cell and obtain the PCI of the target cell.
- the target cell may transmit the discovery signal together with the PSS / SSS or may transmit only the discovery signal without the PSS / SSS.
- the discovery signal When a discovery signal is transmitted in one or more OFDM symbols at a predetermined subframe timing in each cell, the discovery signal overlaps with existing signals (PSS, SSS, CRS, etc.) transmitted through the corresponding subframe. Problems may arise with the operation of legacy devices that do not know whether a signal is being transmitted (ie, devices that only support LTE).
- the following embodiment proposes an operation for guaranteeing backward compatibility so that a problem does not occur in operation of a legacy device even when a discovery signal is transmitted.
- the sub-view A shows a subframe with a normal CP and the sub-view B shows a subframe with an extended CP.
- a subframe includes 14 OFDM symbols
- a subframe includes 12 OFDM symbols.
- 'P0' is the CRS for the first antenna port (hereinafter CRS0)
- 'P1' is the CRS for the second antenna port (hereinafter CRS1)
- 'P2' is the CRS for the third antenna port (hereinafter CRS2)
- 'P3' indicates the CRS (hereinafter CRS3) for the fourth antenna port.
- CRS0 and CRS1 are transmitted in the first and fifth OFDM symbols of each slot, and CRS2 and CRS3 are transmitted in the second OFDM symbol of each slot.
- CRS0 and CRS1 are transmitted in the first and third OFDM symbols of each slot, and CRS2 and CRS3 are transmitted in the second OFDM symbol of each slot.
- legacy devices use CRS0 and CRS1 transmitted in the first OFDM symbol of each subframe to measure neighbor cells. Therefore, if the discovery signal is transmitted over one subframe, there may be a problem in the measurement in the subframe.
- FIG. 6 shows a subframe structure for transmitting a discovery signal according to an embodiment of the present invention.
- the discovery signal is transmitted in at least one of the remaining OFDM symbols except the first OFDM symbol of the subframe.
- An OFDM symbol to which a discovery signal is transmitted may be referred to as a discovery signal (DS) OFDM symbol, and a set of DS OFDM symbols in a subframe may be referred to as a DS transmission interval.

- the OFDM symbol for transmitting the PSS / SSS in the DS transmission interval may be excluded.
- a DS transmission interval may be set except for an OFDM symbol that may be set or configured to transmit a CSI-RS (channel state information-reference signal).
- the discovery signal may not be transmitted in the OFDM symbol in which the CSI-RS is transmitted.
- the CSI-RS is transmitted in the 6th and 7th OFDM symbols, and in the extended CP, the CSI-RS is transmitted in the 5th and 6th OFDM symbols.
- the discovery signal may not be transmitted in a subframe in which the CSI-RS may be configured or configured to be transmitted. This may be useful when using CSI-RS for cell measurement.
- a discovery signal may not be transmitted in a special subframe.
- the special subframe includes a downlink pilot time slot (DwPTS), a guard period (GP) and an uplink pilot time slot (UpPTS).
- DwPTS is used for initial cell search, synchronization or channel estimation at the terminal.
- UpPTS is used for channel estimation at the base station and synchronization of uplink transmission of the terminal.
- GP is a section for removing interference caused in the uplink due to the multipath delay of the downlink signal between the uplink and the downlink. This is because the number of OFDM symbols that can be used for downlink transmission may be insufficient in the special subframe. More specifically, when the UL-DL configuration is 0 or 5, the discovery signal may not be transmitted in the special subframe.
- the discovery signal is not transmitted in a subframe in which a positioning reference signal (PRS) is set to be transmitted. This is because, because the PRS occupies many OFDM symbols, energy for the search signal may be insufficient.
- PRS positioning reference signal
- the discovery signal may not be transmitted in an OFDM symbol in which an interference measurement resource (IMR) may be set or set. Or, the discovery signal may not be transmitted in a subframe in which IMR may be set or set. This may be useful when using IMR for cell measurement.
- IMR interference measurement resource
- FIG. 7 shows a subframe structure for transmitting a discovery signal according to another embodiment of the present invention.
- the discovery signal may be transmitted in the remaining OFDM symbols except for the OFDM symbol in which the CRS is transmitted in the subframe.
- the DS transmission interval may include the remaining OFDM symbols except for the OFDM symbols through which CRS0, CRS1, CRS2, and CRS4 are transmitted.
- FIG. 8 shows a subframe structure for transmitting a discovery signal according to another embodiment of the present invention.
- the DS transmission interval may include the remaining OFDM symbols except for the OFDM symbols through which CRS0 and CRS1 are transmitted. This can be useful for devices that do not support CRS2 and CRS3.
- the DS transmission interval may include OFDM symbols except for the last one OFDM symbol from the second OFDM symbol of the subframe.
- the DS transmission interval may include an OFDM symbol excluding the last plurality of OFDM symbols from the second OFDM symbol of the subframe.
- the maximum number of OFDM symbols included in the PDCCH region in the DS transmission interval may be excluded.
- the DS transmission interval may start from the third OFDM symbol.
- the DS transmission interval may start from the third OFDM symbol.
- the DS transmission interval may start from the fourth OFDM symbol.
- FIG. 9 shows a subframe structure for transmitting a discovery signal according to another embodiment of the present invention.
- the discovery signal may be transmitted only in a designated subframe.
- the subframe in which the discovery signal is transmitted is called a discovery subframe.
- Some of the plurality of subframes may be designated as search subframes.
- the search subframe may be defined in units of one or more radio frames. For example, if defined in one radio frame unit having 10 subframes, a search subframe may be designated by a 10-bit bitmap.
- a discovery subframe may be designated except for a subframe in which PBCH and PSS / SSS are transmitted among radio frames.
- the discovery subframe may include a multicast broadcast single frequency network (MBSFN) subframe. Alternatively, only MBSFN subframes may be designated as search subframes. Some or all of the subframes designated as MBSFN subframes may be designated as search subframes.
- MBSFN multicast broadcast single frequency network
- the discovery signal may be transmitted in the remaining OFDM symbols except for the first two OFDM symbols. This is because the legacy device attempts to detect the CRS and the PDCCH only in the first two OFDM symbols of the MBSFN subframe. All or part of the REs of the OFDM symbols belonging to the DS transmission interval may be used for transmission of the discovery signal.
- the wireless device capable of detecting the discovery signal may determine the CFI and / or DS transmission interval in the discovery subframe as follows.
- the wireless device may assume that the CFI value in the discovery subframe is a fixed value (eg, 2).
- the wireless device may perform the reception of the PDCCH / PHICH based on the assumed CFI value.
- the DS transmission interval may include the remaining OFDM symbols except for the OFDM symbol indicated by the CFI.
- the base station may inform the wireless device of the CFI value in the discovery subframe through RRC signaling.
- the DS transmission interval may include the remaining OFDM symbols except for the OFDM symbol indicated by the CFI.
- the wireless device may assume the start of the DS transmission interval in the discovery subframe as a fixed OFDM symbol (eg, the third OFDM symbol). If the CFI value of the PCFICH includes the DS transmission interval, the wireless device may determine that there is a problem in receiving the corresponding PCFICH. In the DS transmission interval determined based on the fixed value, reception of a signal such as PDSCH may be excluded.
- the base station may inform the wireless device of the start point of the DS transmission interval in the discovery subframe. If the CFI value of the PCFICH includes the DS transmission period, the wireless device may determine that there is a problem in receiving the corresponding PCFICH. In addition, in the DS transmission interval determined based on the indicated value, reception of a signal such as a PDSCH may be excluded.
- the wireless device may perform the following operation.
- the detection of the E-PDCCH in the entire search space may be abandoned.
- E-PDCCH detection may be abandoned in a region overlapping with a region where a discovery signal is transmitted in the corresponding search space.
- the wireless device may not attempt to receive the corresponding SPS PDSCH.
- an attempt may be made to receive the SPS PDSCH in a region other than the overlapped region.
- the wireless device may give up channel estimation using the corresponding CSI-RS in the overlapped region.
- channel estimation using the CSI-RS may be abandoned in the entire subframe in which the discovery signal is transmitted.
- the wireless device may exclude the interference measurement using the IMR in the corresponding subframe.

- the wireless device receives a search setting from the network.
- the network may include a macro base station or a macro cell. Since the wireless device has established a connection with the macro cell, the macro cell may be referred to as a serving cell of the wireless device.
