Abstract

La présente invention concerne un tour vertical (10) qui comprend : une base (12), un tambour (14) supporté par la base (12) de façon rotative autour d'un axe vertical de rotation (z), au moins une broche porteuse de pièce à usiner (16) formée comme broche verticale inversée, une pluralité de dispositifs porte-outil (24) montés sur la base (12) de sorte à permettre aux outils respectifs d'usiner une pièce à usiner supportée par la broche porteuse de pièce à usiner (16), et au moins une unité d'usinage (30) ainsi qu'au moins une contre-tête (26) qui est montée sur la base (12). La broche porteuse de pièce à usiner (16) est montée sur le tambour (14) de sorte que son axe de rotation (z1) est mobile avec le tambour (14) le long d'une trajectoire circulaire ayant son centre sur l'axe de rotation (z) du tambour (14) et de sorte que ladite broche porteuse de pièce à usiner (16) est également mobile dans une direction verticale (z1). Chaque unité d'usinage (30) comprend une tourelle ou une tête porte-outil (32), dont l'axe (y) est orienté horizontalement et se trouve à une distance de l'axe de rotation (z) du tambour (14) inférieure à la distance entre l'axe de rotation (z) du tambour (14) et l'axe de rotation (z1) de la ou des broches porteuses de pièce à usiner (16), et un moyen de déplacement (36, 38, 42, 44) conçu pour déplacer la tourelle ou la tête porte-outil (32) par rapport à la base (12) et au tambour (14) au moins le long de son axe (y). Chaque contre-tête (26) comprend un dispositif de serrage (28) permettant de serrer une pièce à usiner devant être usinée, l'axe (z2) dudit dispositif de serrage (28) étant orienté verticalement et situé à une distance de l'axe de rotation (z) du tambour (14) sensiblement égale à la distance entre l'axe de rotation (z) du tambour (14) et l'axe de rotation (z1) de la ou des broches porteuses de pièce à usiner (16), et un moyen formant moteur permettant d'entraîner par rotation le dispositif de serrage (28) autour de son axe (z2).
