Definitions

  • This invention relates to a packet for elongate smoking articles, such as, for example, cigarettes.
  • the smoker has to tear off a part of the upper portion of the inner wrapper, left uncovered by the outer wrapper.
  • the packet can no longer be effectively re-closed, which means that cigarettes may accidentally fall out of the packet when the smoker is not using it and is keeping it, for example, in a pocket or handbag.
  • the part of the inner wrapper that remains open after being torn is relatively reduced in size because the central part of the top end face of the packet is covered by a tax stamp or label which limits the size of the opening and thus, access to the cigarettes inside the packet is not very easy.
  • the packet leaves the cigarettes inside it totally exposed to air, which rapidly dries the cigarette tobacco and deteriorates its organoleptic properties. Disclosure of the invention
  • This invention has for an aim to provide a packet for elongate smoking articles, in particular, cigarettes, which is free of the drawbacks typical of the prior art packets described above.
  • the invention accordingly provides a packet for elongate smokers' articles as set out in the appended claims.
  • FIG. 1 illustrates a first embodiment of a sheet of wrapping material designed to wrap a group of smoking articles to form an inner wrapper
  • FIG. 2 illustrates a further sheet of wrapping material designed to be wrapped around the inner wrapper of Figure 1 to form an outer container;
  • FIG. 3 shows a partly adhesive label for closing the outer wrapper of Figure 2;
  • FIGS. 4 and 5 are a front and a rear perspective view, respectively, of the packet of this invention in the closed condition;
  • FIGS. 6 and 7 are perspective views of the packet of this invention in two different configurations of the packet in the open condition;
  • Figure 8 shows a variant of the sheet of wrapping material of Figure 2;
  • FIGS 9 and 10 are perspective views of a packet incorporating the sheet of Figure 8 in two different configurations of the packet in the open condition.
  • FIG. 1 1 illustrates a further variant of the packet of the preceding figures.
  • the numeral 1 in Figures 4-7 and 9-1 1 denotes in its entirety a packet for smoking articles, comprising a soft inner wrapper 2 in the shape of a parallelepiped with rectangular base, and a hollow outer container or wrapper 3 with an open top end 4 which allows access to a corresponding top wall or face 5 of the inner wrapper 2.
  • the inner wrapper 2 is made by folding an inner sheet 8 of wrapping material, made for example of paper, metallized paper or layered plastic material, around a group 6 of cigarettes 7 which are arranged parallel to a longitudinal axis A of main extension of the packet 1 .
