  • drum 2 is suspended in bearing-mounted manner on only one side, i.e. its infeed side. Less wear can hereby occur than if the drum were suspended in bearing-mounted manner on two sides.
  • FIG 4 shows centrifuge 1 according to a second embodiment of the invention. Only the differences with centrifuge 1 of figures 1 - 3 will be discussed hereinbelow, reference further being made to the figure description associated with figures 1 - 3. Corresponding components are designated here with the same reference numerals.
  • Centrifuge 1 of figure 4 has one air chamber 6 which is disposed on the upper side of drum 2. It will be apparent that air chamber 6 can be disposed at a random location along the periphery of drum 2. Three fans 7 supply air under pressure, for instance air with an overpressure of between 0.03 - 0.10 bar, to air chamber 6, which air is supplied via the perforations in drum 2 to the inner peripheral surface thereof. Air chamber 6 comprises side walls (not shown in figure 4) extending to a position close to drum 2 so that air chamber 6 seals in substantially airtight manner against drum 2. The three fans 7 are each connected via conduits 13 to a different area of drum 2, distributed along the length of drum 2. An advantage hereof is that the pressure of the supplied gas is substantially the same along the length of drum 2. Instead of three fans with three connecting conduits 13 which connect to air chamber 6, the centrifuge can comprise any desired number of fans with any desired number of connecting conduits. The number can for instance be chosen in accordance with the length of drum 2.

Abstract

L'invention concerne une centrifugeuse pour centrifuger une masse, par exemple des légumes tels que de la laitue, des épinards, une carotte, du chou et analogues, comprenant : - un tambour centrifuge perforé ayant un axe de rotation disposé plus ou moins horizontalement ; - des moyens d'acheminement pour acheminer la masse au tambour, et - des moyens de décharge pour décharger la masse du tambour ; - des moyens pour maintenir la masse à une certaine distance de la paroi périphérique intérieure du tambour étant ajoutés au tambour, et - le tambour a une forme s'élargissant dans la direction des moyens de décharge de telle sorte que, pendant la centrifugation, la masse présente dans le tambour est déplacée des moyens d'acheminement aux moyens de décharge. L'invention concerne en outre l'utilisation d'une telle centrifugeuse de façon à sécher une masse.
