- 6c, d, e show modular grid patterns (a grid system made of the structural members) of the suspended ceiling according to the invention, wherein the various structural members (beams and cross-tees) are fitted with sources of light and others are empty (without any source of light), also placed parallel or perpendicularly to each other and spaced equally apart in such a way, that together they form a grid system of a square grid pattern, ready to lay the standard panels of dimensions of 600x600mm. Alternatively, it is preferred to make a similar grid system ready to lay the standard panels of 625x625mm.
Abstract
The object of the invention is a structural member of the suspended ceiling, comprising a fitting part (1) provided to attach the structural members to the ceiling and the supporting part (2) provided to support ceiling panels, characterised in that said structural member comprises at least one source of light (3). The invention also encompasses a suspended ceiling comprising such structural member.
Description
Structural member of suspended ceiling and suspended ceiling containing such member
The object of the invention is a structural member of a suspended ceiling and a suspended ceiling containing such element. More specifically, the invention relates to a structural member of a suspended ceiling, designed to provide support for panels forming the surface of such a ceiling, the said structural member being fitted with a source or sources of light.
The prior art suspended ceiling consists of structural members attached to the existing ceiling and comprising grid system designed to provide support for panels forming the surface of the suspended ceiling. Typically, the structural members have an inverted T letter shape and form a grid system which is to be filled with ceiling panels. The panel supports (corresponding to the T letter crossbar), in a standard case, have width of 12 mm on each side of the structural member. Typically, panels are made of light materials, such as e.g. mineral wool, plastics, aluminium, steel and aluminium sheet screens. Dimensions of such panels are standardised for convenience of manufacturers of the structural elements of such ceilings. The most frequent are square panels, of structural module dimensions of 600x600mm or 625x625mm. According to the actual needs, some panels can be replaced with other elements, such as lighting fixtures, ventilation air blows, fire protection sensors, loud-speaking systems etc. The suspended ceilings of such construction are widely available in the market, as well as described in numerous patent literature - e.g. US patent application no US2011308185 A1 , international patent application published under the number WO2008085244, Russian application no RU241891 9, European patent application no EP2196590 or Polish patent application no P-341794.
Among the above mentioned special elements, the most frequent are lighting fixtures which - in most rooms where the suspended ceilings are installed (e.g. offices, schools, hospitals, public buildings) - are indispensable for normal use of the area. Therefore, in addition to making a grid system of structural members- it is necessary to install lighting fixtures in the grid system and to properly accommodate wiring for these fixtures. It takes more time and higher costs to install such suspended ceiling.
Therefore, the object of the present invention is to provide a structural member of the suspended ceiling, which would eliminate the above inconveniences. A further object of the invention is to offer a suspended ceiling comprising such structural member.
These objects have been achieved according to the invention through embedding the source of light in said structural member.
A structural member of the suspended ceiling, comprising a fitting part provided to anchor the structural member to the existing ceiling and the supporting part provided to support ceiling panels, according to the invention is characterised in that said structural member comprises at least one source of light.
Preferably, the structural member according to the invention comprises two supporting parts in form of projections extending transversely to the fitting part.
Preferably, said structural members have a shape of flat beams of a width of 8 to 20 mm, preferably 12mm each.
In such case, preferably, the source of light is located between two supporting parts.
Preferably, the source of light is selected from a group including: a miniature fluorescent tube, the LED type source of light.
In the particularly preferred embodiment of the invention, the source of light contains a LED light-emitting diode and especially it contains only LED light-emitting diodes.
Preferably, the structural member according to the invention additionally comprises a reflector, a diffuser transmitting and/or diffusing the light, especially a microprismatic diffuser or an opal diffuser, an optical element emitting light directionally, a lamella louvre directing the light or a set of lenses focusing the light and emitting it directionally.
The invention also comprises a suspended ceiling comprising the above described structural member according to the invention.
Preferably, the suspended ceiling according to the invention additionally comprises one or more elements selected from the group comprising: a linear light- emitting element, a transversal light-emitting element, optionally fitted with a voltage rail, an element without any additional fixtures, optionally provided with a voltage rail.
Preferably, the structural members and optionally members indicated in the previous paragraph form a grid system of a rectangular grid pattern, provided to support ceiling panels.
Particularly preferably, said grid is a square pattern grid, especially with dimensions of 600x600mm or 625x625mm.
The solution according to the invention offers several advantages. First of all, it eliminates the need of installation of lighting fixtures on the grid system made of the suspended ceiling structural members. Obviously, such fixtures can still be installed in specific cases, if required. Other special purpose filler panels, e.g. ventilation, alarm etc. can also be installed on the grid system built of the structural members according to the invention. Since it is not necessary to separately install the lighting fixtures, the installation of the suspended ceiling can be done more easily, and thus faster and cheaper than in case of the prior art suspended ceiling. Furthermore, the solution according to the present invention is very economical since the light-emitting diodes (LED) are used as the source of light. Finally, the suspended ceiling according to the invention makes it possible to easily provide even illumination of the entire room and to satisfy the requirements specified in relevant domestic and European standards.
The invention will now be described in more detailed manner in preferred embodiments, with references to the attached drawings, in which:

It is visible on the drawing, that the structural members according to the invention comprises a fitting part 1 , provided to attach the structural member to a existing ceiling in the area, where the suspended ceiling is installed, and supporting parts 2, provided to support the ceiling panels. In normal use, the fitting part 1 is arranged substantially vertically, whereas the supporting parts 2 are arranged substantially horizontally. In the shown embodiment, supporting parts 2 have a shape of profiled beams, of a width of 12mm each. There is a source of light 3 between the supporting parts 2. There may be various types of source of light 3, preferably being a set of LED diodes. The source of light 3 can be embedded in a reflector 6, which may comprise a set of lenses 8, focusing and directionally emitting light. In the shown
embodiments, the opening between the supporting parts 2, where the source of light 3 is located, is of 12mm. In the bottom part of the profile the grooves are located, for inserting a light transmitting and/or diverging diffuser 4 (e.g. a microprismatic diffuser, an opal diffuser), an optical element emitting light directionally 5 or a lamella louvre directing light 7.
