Description

A HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCE
The present invention relates to a household appliance that comprises a handle.
Household appliances, for example ovens, comprise a handle that is used for opening/closing the doors thereof. The door of the household appliance is opened by holding the handle and accessing inside the body of the household appliance, processes such as placing in the food to be cooked, checking the status of the food that is cooking etc. are performed. Various connection members are used in the technique for easily mounting the handles on the ovens.
However, in these embodiments known in the technique, different connection members are needed to be used for every different handle size and different model of oven and this leads to an increase in production and inventory costs.
In the state of the art United States Patent Application No. US20070144562, a household appliance is described, wherein the handle is mounted onto the door in a manner that the size of the handle can be changed.
The aim of the present invention is the realization of a household appliance that comprises a single connection member used for mounting handles with different lengths.
The household appliance realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof comprises a connection member that is situated between the handle and the door and that provides the fastening of the handle onto the door. On the connection member, there is a first fixing hole through which the fixing member that provides the fastening of the connection member to the handle is passed and a second fixing hole through which the fixing member that provides the fastening of the connection member to the door is passed. In the horizontal plane, there is a distance between the first fixing hole and the second fixing hole. During the mounting of the handle to the door, first the connection member is fastened onto the handle. Thus, even if the handle length varies from household appliance model to model, the second fixing hole is provided to be in the correct position on the door. Thus, a single mounting hole is bored on the door independently from the handle length. Consequently, the production cost of the household appliance is decreased by using common members in production.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the handle comprises a handgrip extending parallel to the door plane and two inclined flanges situated on both sides of the handgrip. The flanges are formed by bending the ends of the handgrip. When the handle is mounted onto the door, the ends of the flanges touch over the door. When the handle is mounted onto the door, a distance remains between the handgrip and the door. Thus, a space is formed for the user to grip the handgrip.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the connection member is formed as a box with one side open. When the handle is mounted onto the door, the open face of the connection member bears against the door. When the handle is fixed onto the door, one of the outer surfaces of the connection member almost completely bears against the inner surface of the flange. At the same time the connection member at least partially bears against the inner surface of the handgrip. The connection member at least partially fills in the volume remaining between the door, the handgrip and the flange.
In an embodiment of the present invention, when the connection member is placed between the door and the handle, the second fixing hole is situated on the line passing through the connection point of the flange and the handgrip.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the connection member is placed into a sheath in a form matching with the form of the connection member. Thus, a more esthetic exterior appearance is obtained by concealing the connection member.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the household appliance is an oven.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the household appliance is a dishwasher.
The household appliance realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where:
Figure 1 – is the perspective view of a household appliance when the door is closed.
Figure 2 – is the top cross-sectional view of a door, a handle and a connection member when the handle is not mounted to the door.
Figure 3 – is the top cross-sectional view of a door, a handle and a connection member when the handle is mounted to the door.
Figure 4 – is the partial perspective view of a handle and a connection member.
Figure 5 – is the top cross-sectional view of a handle and a connection member when the connection member is mounted to the handle.
The elements illustrated in the figures are numbered as follows:
  1. Household appliance
  2. Body
  3. Door
  4. Handle
  5. Connection member
  6. First fixing hole
  7. Second fixing hole
  8. Handgrip
  9. Flange
  10. Sleeve
The household appliance (1) of the present invention comprises a body (2), a door (3) providing access into the body (2), a handle (4) mounted onto the door (3) and a connection member (5) that is situated between the handle (4) and the door (3) and that provides the mounting of the handle (4) to the door (3).
The household appliance (1) furthermore comprises
  • a first fixing hole (6) that is situated on the connection member (5) and through which the fixing member that provides the fastening of the connection member (5) to the handle (4) is passed, and
  • a second fixing hole (7) that is positioned on the connection member (5) so that a distance remains between the first fixing hole (6) on the horizontal plane and itself and through which the fixing element that provides the fastening of the connection member (5) to the door (3) is passed.
During the mounting of the handle (4) to the door (3), the connection member (5) is fastened to the handle (4) by first passing the fixing member through the first fixing hole (6). The handle (4) is fixed onto the door (3) by positioning the handle (4) and the connection (5) fixed to each other on the door (3) and by passing the fixing member through the second fixing hole (7). The fixing members extend perpendicularly to the door (3) plane. In the horizontal plane, there is a distance between the first fixing hole (6) and the second fixing hole (7). By keeping fixed the positions of the holes arranged on the door (3) and through which the fixing member is passed, the connection member (5) is provided to be used for any type of household appliance (1) independently from the handle (4) length, thus decreasing the production costs.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the handle (4) comprises a handgrip (8) extending parallel to the door (3) plane and two flanges (9) that are situated at both ends of the handgrip (8), that extend angularly to the door (3) plane and of which the free ends touch the door (3). By means of the flange (9), a distance remains between the handgrip (8) and the door (3). In other words, thanks to its form, the flange (9) provides the handgrip (8) to be away from the door (3). Thus, it is facilitated for the user to put his/her hand between the door (3) and the handgrip (8) and to grip the handgrip (8).
In an embodiment of the present invention, the connection member (5) is formed as a box with the side that faces the door (3) being open, and bears almost completely against the inner surface of the flange (9) and at least partially against the inner surface of the handgrip (8). Thus, the force exerted onto the handle (4) during the opening/closing of the door (3) is provided to be supported by the connection member (5). The surfaces of the connection member (5) bearing against the flange (9) and the handgrip (8) are closed. The first fixing hole (6) is situated on the face of the connection member (5) facing the handgrip (8).
In an embodiment of the present invention, when the connection member (5) is placed between the door (3) and the handle (4), the second fixing hole (7) is situated on the line passing through the connection point of the handgrip (8) and the flange (9).
In an embodiment of the present invention, the household appliance (1) comprises a sleeve (10) having a form matching with the form of the connection member (5), wherein the connection member (5) is placed. By means of the sleeve (10), the deformations that may occur on the connection member (5) during the fixing of the connection member (5) to the handle (4) and the door (3) are concealed. Thus, a more esthetic exterior appearance is obtained.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the household appliance (1) is an oven.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the household appliance (1) is a dishwasher.
By means of the present invention, cost advantage is provided in the production of the household appliance (1) by enabling the handles (4) with different lengths to be fastened to the door (3) by using a common connection member (5).
It is to be understood that the present invention is not limited to the embodiments disclosed above and a person skilled in the art can easily introduce different embodiments. These should be considered within the scope of the protection postulated by the claims of the present invention.
