Description

A HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCE COMPRISING A KNOB
The present invention relates to a household appliance comprising a knob.
In household appliances, rotary knobs providing the operation of the household appliance or the adjustment of programs parameters are widely used. These knobs are generally mounted onto the control panel. The knobs wear out or get dirty due to the effect of heat from the heater panel and hot oil spattering from the foods being cooked etc. This situation causes customer dissatisfaction.
The aim of the present invention is the realization of a household appliance comprising a knob that provides ease of utilization.
In the state of the art European Patent Application No. EP2519775, a rotary knob is disclosed, comprising a metal sheath that is not affected by heat.
The household appliance realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof, comprises a rotary knob that is disposed on the control panel and enables the operational parameters to be adjusted by the user. The knob comprises a motion transmitter that transmits the rotational or pushing movement of the knob to the control panel.
The knob furthermore comprises a sheath that can be attached to and detached from the body so as to at least partially cover the surface of the body visible from the outside. Protecting the body from external factors such as high temperatures, moisture, dirt, oil, etc., the sheath can be removed to be cleaned or replaced when worn out or dirty. Thus, the appearance of the knob can be improved by the user in a simple manner.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the knob comprises a ring-shaped skirt on the surface of the body that is mounted to the control panel, which is wider than the side surfaces of the body.
In an embodiment of the present invention, in order to fix the sheath onto the body, the knob comprises more than one claw and more than one opening disposed oppositely on the body, more than one rib that are seated onto the claw at the surface of the sheath facing the claw and the opening, and more than one extension extending towards the opening. Thus, the sheath is detachably mounted onto the body.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the knob comprises a slit arranged on the motion transmitter and a tenon that extends from over the body towards the motion transmitter and that enables the motion transmitter to be mounted to the body and the sheath to be fixed by being seated into the slit when the body is placed onto the motion transmitter.
In a derivative of this embodiment, the tenon is T-shaped and extends between the sheath and the motion transmitter so as to touch the sheath and the motion transmitter. Thus, the sheath is locked onto the motion transmitter by means of the body.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the sheath and the body are produced from the same material. Thus, the appearance of the knob is improved.
The household appliance realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where:

The household appliance (1) comprises a control panel (2) and a knob (4) that is disposed on the control panel (2) and that has a body (3) and a motion transmitter (5) that enables the movement of the body (3) to be transmitted to the control panel (2). The rotary knob (4) mounted onto the control panel (2) enables the household appliance (1) to be operated or the program parameters to be adjusted.
The knob (4) of the present invention comprises a sheath (6) that is detachably mounted onto the body (3) so as to at least partially cover the ceiling and the side surfaces of the body (3) and that triggers the motion transmitter (5) by moving together with the body (3) when rotated by the user. Since the sheath (6) is detachably mounted onto the body (3), the sheath (6) can be easily detached by the user when the knob (4) surface gets dirty or damaged, and can be attached onto the body (3) after being cleaned or replaced.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the body (3) comprises a skirt (7) on its part mounted to the control panel (2). The skirt (7) functions as a barrier between the sheath (6) and the control panel (2).
In an embodiment of the present invention, the knob (4) comprises more than one claw (8) disposed oppositely at the end of the body (3) close to the skirt (7), more than one opening (9) arranged under the claws (8), more than one rib (10) oppositely situated on the sheath (6), that enables the sheath (6) to be mounted to the body (3) and bears against the claw (8), and more than one extension (11) seated into the opening (9). Thus, the sheath (6) is detachably mounted onto the body (3).
In an embodiment of the present invention, the knob (4) comprises a slit (12) arranged on the surface of the motion transmitter (5) facing the body (3), and a tenon (13) that is disposed on the body (3) and that enables the body (3) to be mounted to the motion transmitter (5) by being seated into the slit (12).
In a derivative of this embodiment, the tenon (13) is T-shaped and bears against the sheath (6) with one face and against the motion transmitter (5) with the other face when the sheath (6) is mounted onto the body (3). Thus, the sheath (6) is locked onto the motion transmitter (5) by means of the body (3).
In an embodiment of the present invention, the sheath (6) is produced from the same material as the knob (4). Thus, the knob (4) and the sheath (6) look like a single component.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the household appliance (1) is a cooking device.
By means of the present invention, thanks to the sheath (6) that can be attached to and detached from the body (3), the user can easily change the sheath (6) that wears out or gets dirty without changing the entire knob (4). Thus, the lifespan of the knob (4) is increased, providing customer satisfaction.

Claims (7)

  1. A household appliance (1) comprising a control panel (2) and a knob (4) that is disposed on the control panel (2) and that has a body (3) and a motion transmitter (5) that enables the movement of the body (3) to be transmitted to the control panel (2), characterized by the knob (4) having a sheath (6) that is detachably mounted onto the body (3) so as to at least partially cover the ceiling and the side surfaces of the body (3) and that triggers the motion transmitter (5) by moving together with the body (3) when rotated by the user.
  2. A household appliance (1) as in Claim 1, characterized by the body (3) having a protrusion-shaped skirt (7) on the part thereof mounted to the control panel (2).
  3. A household appliance (1) as in Claim 1 or 2, characterized by the knob (4) comprising more than one claw (8) disposed oppositely at the end of the body (3) close to the skirt (7), more than one opening (9) arranged under the claws (8), more than one rib (10) oppositely situated on the sheath (6), that enables the sheath (6) to be mounted to the body (3) and bears against the claw (8), and more than one extension (11) seated into the opening (9).
  4. A household appliance (1) as in any one of the above claims, characterized by the knob (4) comprising a slit (12) arranged on the surface of the motion transmitter (5) facing the body (3), and a tenon (13) that is disposed on the body (3) and that enables the body (3) to be mounted to the motion transmitter (5) by being seated into the slit (12).
  5. A household appliance (1) as in Claim 4, characterized by the T-shaped tenon (13) that bears against the sheath (6) with one face and against the motion transmitter (5) with the other face when the sheath (6) is mounted onto the body (3).
  6. A household appliance (1) as in any one of the above claims, characterized by the sheath (6) that is produced from the same material as the body (3).
  7. A household appliance (1) as in any one of the above claims, which is a cooking device.
