Abstract

The invention relates to a method for increasing the temperature of a furnace gas that is produced at the blast furnace head (5) in a blast furnace (1) and is conducted out of the blast furnace (1) via vertical ducts (6). In the method, the furnace gas is mixed at the blast furnace head (5) and/or in the vertical ducts (6) with waste combustion gases from at least one burner (11) attached to the blast furnace head (5) and/or vertical ducts (6). The waste combustion gases have a higher temperature than the furnace gas. The invention further relates to a blast furnace (1) having a blast furnace head (5) and vertical ducts (6) for conducting furnace gas out of the blast furnace head (5), wherein at least one burner (11) is present at the blast furnace head (5) and/or in the vertical ducts (6), the waste combustion gases of which burner can be mixed with the furnace gas at the blast furnace head (5) and/or in the vertical ducts (6).
