  • the clamping member is forced to swing out from the slidable member by a pivot control arm that is pivotally connected to the opposite end of the slidable member from the pivot point of the clamping member, and is rotatably attached to the clamping member such that when the slidable member moves in a direction towards the second planar member, a compressive force is applied in the longitudinal direction of the first planar member between the pivot point of the control arm and the pivot . point of the clamping member, thereby causing both the pivot control arm and the clamping member to extend out from their respective flushness with the slidable member.
  • the clamping member is spring biased so that it normally extends outwardly from the inner face of the first planar member.
  • the rear of the desk forces the clamping member to retract back until it sits substantially flush with the inner face of the first planar member. This causes the clamping member to push against the spring bias.

Abstract
