Definitions
- the present invention relates to Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology, and more particularly to a user equipment, system and method for setting a frequency priority of a Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (MBMS).
- LTE Long Term Evolution

- 3GPP 3rd Generation Partnership Project
- 3rd Generation Partnership Project 3rd Generation Partnership Project
- MBMS service is a technology for transmitting data from one data source to multiple target mobile user devices, which realizes the sharing of resources (including core network and access network) and improves the utilization of network resources (especially air interface resources). rate.
- the MBMS service defined by 3GPP can not only realize plain text low-rate message class multicast and broadcast, but also realize high-speed multimedia service broadcast and multicast, and provide a variety of rich video, audio and multimedia services, which undoubtedly conforms to the future.
- the trend of mobile data development provides a better business prospect for the development of 3G.
- the user equipment (UE) that receives the MBMS service may be in one of two states: one is an RRC connected state (RRC-CONNECTED, referred to as a connected state); the other is an RRC idle state (RRC-IDLE, referred to as idle)
- RRC-CONNECTED RRC-CONNECTED
- RRC-IDLE RRC idle state
- only the UE in the idle state is studied. According to whether the UE is receiving the unicast service, it can be determined whether the UE that is receiving the MBMS service is in the connected state or in the idle state; when the UE is receiving the unicast service, the UE is in the connected state; the UE in the idle state is not established with the network side.
- the radio resource control (RRC, Radio Resources Control) is connected, and the UE in the connected state establishes an RRC connection with the network side.
- RRC Radio Resource Control
- the cell selection or reselection procedure is generally used to enter the target cell; for the connected UE, the cell handover procedure is generally used to enter the target cell.
- the UE If the UE has the MBMS service being received in the source cell, after the UE enters the target cell, the UE reads the message of the Broadcast Control Channel (BCCH, Broadcast Control CHannel) and the Multicast Control Channel (MCCH, Multicast Control Channel) to Obtain resource configuration information of the MBMS service in the target cell.
- BCCH Broadcast Control CHannel
- MCCH Multicast Control Channel
- the target cell and the source cell belong to the same MBMS over a Single Frequency Network (MB SFN) area, that is, the target cell and the source cell belong to the MBSFN area, the UE does not have to read after entering the target cell.
- MB SFN Single Frequency Network
- the resource configuration information of the MBMS service can directly receive the MBMS service in the target cell by using the resource configuration information of the MBMS service of the source cell (current cell), and realize the continuity of the MBMS service; if the target cell and the source cell belong to different MBSFN areas, The UE needs to read the resource configuration information of the MBMS service after entering the target cell. If the MBMS service that the UE needs to receive in the target cell is not sent, the UE cannot read the resource configuration information of the MBMS service after entering the target cell. Unable to receive MBMS service.
- the receiving status of the UE having the MBMS service capability includes: receiving the MBMS service, and interested in receiving the MBMS service.
- Interested in receiving the MBMS service means that the UE has not received the MBMS service and is ready to receive the MBMS service.
- the UE can listen to the MBMS notification message and further read the MCCH message and the MBMS service data according to the MBMS notification message.
- an LTE-A cell In an LTE system, a cell has only one uplink carrier and downlink carrier.
- LTE-A Long Term Evolution-Advanced Long Term Evolution-Advance
- an LTE-A cell may be configured with multiple component carriers (CC, Component Carrier) and multiple CCs. They can be aggregated to form a transmission bandwidth of up to 100 MHz, and the UE can perform data transmission and reception on one or more CCs (depending on the capabilities of the UE itself), which is called CA (Carrier Aggregation).
- CA Carrier Aggregation
- the idle mode UE always resides in a certain one.
- the component carrier On the component carrier.
- a component carrier activation process is required to manage the carrier, so that the UE can perform data scheduling on multiple component carriers at the same time.
- the current 3GPP discussion agrees that only MBMS service continuity deployed on one frequency is considered.
- the component carrier that provides the MBMS service is referred to herein as the MBMS frequency.
- the MBMS service may be transmitted in a point-to-point (PTP) manner.
- PTP point-to-point
- the radio access network (RAN) side does not know that the MBMS service passes. Unicast transmission.
- the cell selection or reselection belongs to mobility in the UE idle state.
- Cell selection includes: initial cell selection, returning to idle state from the connected state, and re-entering the service.
- the cell selection includes the UE searching for the strongest cell on each carrier frequency in each supported RAT (Radio Access Technology) until a suitable cell is found.
- the UE When leaving the connection mode, the UE usually selects the cell connected in the past, but the connection release message may include information indicating that the UE searches for the cell on the specific frequency; when the UE finds that there is no suitable cell in the selected PLMN, performing "arbitrary cell search", this In this state, the UE is not allowed to receive the MBMS service.
- cell selection or reselection The purpose of cell selection or reselection is to ensure that the idle state UE resides in the best cell.
- cell selection or reselection is a necessary process, mainly due to the mobility of the UE and the volatility of the wireless environment, thereby causing fluctuations in signal strength and interference levels.
- the network side can set up to 8 different priorities for different frequencies.
- the idle state UE performs cell selection or reselection according to the frequency priority order. When the frequency priorities are the same, the UE performs cell according to the order of the radio channel quality. Select or reselect.
- each user equipment uses its own radio measurements (such as received beacon channel levels) and network-provided parameters (such as thresholds) and partial system information to select or reselect cells.
- the guidelines are evaluated.
- user equipment needs to evaluate reselection criteria using measurements from different available frequencies and access technologies.
- the network controls the parameters used by the reselection criteria, allowing the UEs in idle state to be moved to the most relevant network layer as needed by the network.
- the 3GPP discussion agrees that for the idle state UE receiving the MBMS service, when the cell is selected or reselected, the MBMS frequency is taken as the highest priority, and then the cell selection or reselection is performed according to the cell selection or reselection rule of the unicast service.
- the idle state UE of the MBMS service receives the MBMS frequency as the highest priority and enters the target cell through cell selection or reselection.
- the centralized aggregation in the same cell may generate a larger
- the network load, especially the UE takes the MBMS frequency as the highest priority, which may result in the UE being unable to reselect to other cells, resulting in increased network load. If the idle state UE initiates an RRC connection request, network congestion may result.
- the main purpose of the present invention is to provide a user equipment, a system, and a method for configuring an MBMS frequency priority setting, which are used to solve the problem of network congestion and excessive load caused by an idle UE in order to implement MBMS service continuity. .
- the present invention provides a method for configuring MBMS frequency priority of a multimedia broadcast multicast service, including:
- the MBMS frequency is set to the highest priority for cell selection or reselection; after the user equipment receives the MBMS service termination in the target cell, the MBMS frequency is no longer used as the MBMS frequency. The highest priority.

- the method further includes: after the user equipment enters the target cell, determining whether the MBMS service of interest starts, if it starts, receiving the MBMS service in the target cell, until the MBMS service is terminated, and if not, continuing to monitor the MCCH notification information.
- the user equipment knows the start time of the MBMS service that is of interest to receive, and sets the MBMS frequency to the highest priority before the start time.
- the start time of the MBMS service be T1, and set the priority of the MBMS frequency priority.
- the minimum time interval means that the time required for the user equipment to set the MBMS frequency priority to enter the target cell is T, and the MBMS service just starts when entering the target cell.
- the user equipment learns the start time information by using the received service statement, the monitored MBMS notification message, or the received system message.
