Abstract

 この発明は、混合ガス生成装置に関し、所定混合比でCOおよびHを同時生成可能な混合ガス生成装置を提供することを目的とする。 図5に示すように、電気分解の消費エネルギー原単位は、電解液中のCO濃度が高くなるほど小さく、電解液中のH濃度が高いほど大きくなる。また、CO濃度保持の消費エネルギー原単位は、電解液中のCO濃度が高くなるほど大きくなる。そして、これら2つの消費エネルギー原単位の和が最小となるのは、図5に一点鎖線で示したCO濃度(濃度C)である。従って、目標CO濃度を濃度Cに設定してCOポンプ22および送液ポンプ18を運転すれば、エネルギー効率よくカソード電圧制御を実行できる。

Description

混合ガス生成装置
 この発明は、混合ガス生成装置に関する。より詳細には、電解装置を用いてH、COからなる混合ガスを生成する混合ガス生成装置に関する。
 石油、石炭、天然ガスといった化石燃料は、熱、電気の生成の原料や、運輸燃料として使用され、現代のエネルギー消費社会を支えている。しかし、このような化石燃料は使い切り燃料であり、その埋蔵量には限りがある。そのため、化石燃料が枯渇した場合の備えが必要であることは言うまでもない。また、化石燃料の燃焼によるCOの大気中への放出は、地球温暖化の一要因となることが知られている。そのため、COの排出量を低減することが、近年の課題となっている。
 これらの課題を解決する一つの手段として、COを原料とした代替燃料が検討されている。例えば、特許文献1には、COを原料として炭化水素系燃料(HC)を製造するシステムが開示されている。このシステムは、固体酸化物電解質から構成される酸素イオン伝導膜と、その両面にそれぞれ配置されたカソードおよびアノードと、を有する電解質セルを備えている。この電解質セルによれば、COガスおよび水蒸気からCOガスおよびHガスをそれぞれ生成することができる。また、生成したCOガスおよびHガスを上記電解質セルから回収し、公知の製造装置内でフィッシャー・トロプシュ反応(FT反応)させればHCが得られる。

 ところで、FT反応時の原料ガス中のHに対するCOの物質量比を所定の混合比とすると、エネルギー効率(投入エネルギーに対する生成物の発熱量をいう。以下同じ。)良くHCを製造できることが知られている。ここで、上記特許文献1のシステムによれば、上記電解質セルからHおよびCOを同時に生成できる。そのため、上記電解質セルを用い、Hに対するCOの生成比率が上記所定混合比となるように電気分解できれば、HCを原料段階からエネルギー効率よく製造できることになる。
 しかしながら、Hに対するCOの生成比率は、上記アノードと上記カソードとの間に印加する電位差や、上記電解質セルに供給するCOガスや水蒸気の単位時間当りの供給量によって異なる値をとる。従って、所定比でCOおよびHを同時生成するためには、これらを考慮した上で更なる改良を行う必要があった。
 この発明は、上述のような課題を解決するためになされたものである。即ち、所定混合比でCOおよびHを同時生成可能な混合ガス生成装置を提供することを目的とする。
 第1の発明は、上記の目的を達成するため、水と二酸化炭素(CO)とをそれぞれ電気分解して、水素(H)と一酸化炭素(CO)とを含む混合ガスを所定混合比で生成する混合ガス生成装置であって、
 水と二酸化炭素(CO)とをそれぞれ電気分解して、水素(H)と一酸化炭素(CO)とを含む混合ガスを所定混合比で生成する混合ガス生成装置であって、
 水およびCOを含む電解液を備える電解槽と、
 前記電解槽に設けられ、電解液中のプロトン(H)濃度およびCO濃度を取得する濃度取得手段と、
 電解液中のH濃度およびCO濃度に、前記所定混合比を実現する電気分解電圧を関連付けた特性マップを記憶する特性マップ記憶手段と、
 前記濃度取得手段により取得したH濃度およびCO濃度を前記特性マップに適用して、前記電気分解電圧を決定する電気分解電圧決定手段と、
 を備えることを特徴とする。
 また、第2の発明は、第1の発明において、
 電解液中のCO濃度を調整可能なCO濃度調整手段と、
 電解液中のCO濃度が、前記CO濃度調整手段による濃度調整で消費されるエネルギーの原単位と、前記電気分解電圧から算出され電気分解で消費されるエネルギーの原単位との和を最小とするCO濃度となるように、前記CO濃度調整手段を制御するCO濃度制御手段と、
 を備えることを特徴とする。
 また、第3の発明は、第1または第2の発明において、
 電解液中のH濃度を調整可能なH濃度調整手段と、
 前記H濃度調整手段による濃度調整で消費されるエネルギーの原単位と、前記電気分解電圧から算出され電気分解で消費されるエネルギーの原単位との和を最小とするH濃度となるように、前記H濃度調整手段を制御するH濃度制御手段と、
 を備えることを特徴とする。
 第1の発明によれば、水およびCOを含む電解液を電気分解することで、COおよびHを含む混合ガスを生成できる。ここで、この混合ガス中におけるHとCOの混合比は、電解液中のCO濃度およびH濃度や、電気分解電圧と相関を有する。これに関し、本発明によれば、電解液中のH濃度およびCO濃度に、所定混合比を実現する電気分解電圧を関連付けた特性マップを記憶している。そのため、濃度取得手段により取得したH濃度およびCO濃度をこの特性マップに適用すれば、所定混合比を実現する電気分解電圧を求めることができる。従って、本発明によれば、混合ガス中におけるHとCOの混合比を所定混合比に調整できる。
 CO濃度調整手段によれば、電気分解の際に、電解液中のCO濃度を調整できる。しかしながら、CO濃度調整手段による濃度調整はエネルギーの消費を伴う。この点、第2の発明によれば、CO濃度調整手段による濃度調整で消費されるエネルギーの原単位と、電気分解で消費されるエネルギーの原単位との和を最小とするCO濃度となるように、CO濃度調整手段を制御できる。従って、本発明によれば、エネルギー効率よく電気分解とCO濃度調整とを行うことができる。
 H濃度調整手段によれば、電気分解の際に、電解液中のH濃度を調整できる。しかしながら、H濃度調整手段による濃度調整はエネルギーの消費を伴う。この点、第3の発明によれば、H濃度調整手段による濃度調整で消費されるエネルギーの原単位と、電気分解で消費されるエネルギーの原単位との和を最小とするH濃度となるように、H濃度調整手段を制御できる。従って、本発明によれば、エネルギー効率よく電気分解とH濃度調整とを行うことができる。

実施の形態1.
[混合ガス生成装置の構成の説明]
 先ず、図1乃至図4を参照しながら、本発明の実施の形態1について説明する。図1は、本発明の実施の形態1の混合ガス生成装置の全体構成図である。図1に示すように、本実施形態の混合ガス生成装置は、電気分解によりCOガスおよびHガスを同時に生成する電解装置10を備えている。電解装置10は、その装置内温度を所定範囲内に制御する温度制御装置12付きの電気分解装置である。電解装置10の詳細な構成は、図2において説明する。
 電解装置10の上流側には、内部に電解液(例えば、KHCO水溶液)が貯留された電解液タンク14が設けられている。電解液タンク14は、電解装置10と流路16を介して接続されている。流路16上には、電解液タンク14に貯留された電解液を所定圧で流路16に供給するように構成された送液ポンプ18が設けられている。また、電解液タンク14は、内部にCOガスが充填されたCOタンク20とCOポンプ22を介して接続されている。COポンプ22は、COタンク20内のCOガスを電解液タンク14に導入する電動式のガスポンプである。
 また、電解装置10の上流側には、内部に水が貯留された水タンク24が設けられている。水タンク24は、電解装置10と流路26を介して接続されている。流路26上には、水タンク24に貯留された水を所定圧で流路26に供給するように構成された送液ポンプ28が設けられている。
 一方、電解装置10の下流側には、気液分離器30が設けられている。後述するように、電解装置10のカソード室において、CO、HおよびHOが生成される。これらの生成物は、電解液と混合した状態で電解装置10から排出され、気液分離器30に送られて気液分離される。
 気液分離器30の下流側には、混合ガスタンク32が設けられている。混合ガスタンク32は、密閉構造を有する耐圧容器(容積既知)であり、流路34を介して気液分離器30と接続されている。流路34には、開度を制御可能に構成された混合ガスバルブ36が設けられている。混合ガスバルブ36は電磁弁等により構成され、その開度は制御信号に応じて制御される。混合ガスバルブ36を開くことで、気液分離器30と混合ガスタンク32とが相互に連通され、気液分離器30で分離されたCO、Hからなる混合ガスが、混合ガスタンク32に流入する。
 気液分離器30は、流路38を介して電解液タンク14に接続されている。流路38上には、濃縮装置40、送液ポンプ42が設けられている。濃縮装置40は、内部に加熱装置と冷却装置とを備えたものであり、電解液から生成水相当量の水分を加熱除去し、その後、混合ガスタンク32内の電解液の温度と略等しい温度まで冷却するように構成されている。送液ポンプ42は、冷却後の電解液を所定圧で流路38に供給するように構成されている。送液ポンプ18,42は、電解液タンク14、電解装置10、気液分離器30、濃縮装置40に電解液を循環させる循環ポンプとして機能する。
 本実施形態の混合ガス生成装置は、更に、制御装置70を備えている。制御装置70の入力側には、上述した温度制御装置12の他、電解装置10における電解液中のCO濃度およびH濃度をそれぞれ検出するCO濃度センサ44およびH濃度センサ46が接続されている。また、制御装置70の出力側には、電解装置10、温度制御装置12、COポンプ22、送液ポンプ18,28,42、混合ガスバルブ36や濃縮装置40が接続されている。
[電解装置10の構成の説明]
 次に、図2を参照しながら、電解装置10の構成について説明する。図2は、図1の電解装置10の一例を示した図である。電解装置10は、3電極式の電解槽50を備えている。電解槽50は、電解液で満たされたカソード室52と、水で満たされたアノード室54と、カソード室52とアノード室54とを仕切る隔膜56とを備えている。
 カソード室52には、図1の電解液タンク14や気液分離器30が接続されている。また、カソード室52には、作用極(WE)58および参照極(RE)60が配置されている。WE58は、電解槽50のカソードに相当するものであり、電気分解時にCOを還元しにくい金属(例えば、Pt)から本体部分が構成されている。この本体部分の表面の一部に、電気分解時にCOを選択的にCOに還元するCO還元触媒が設けられている。
 また、アノード室54には、図1の水タンク24が接続されている。また、アノード室54には、対極(CE)62が配置されている。CE62は、電解槽50のアノードに相当するものであり、電気分解時に溶解しない金属(例えば、Au、Pt)から構成されている。
 また、隔膜56は、アノード室54側からカソード室52側にHを運搬する機能を有するものであり、例えばNAFION(登録商標)等の高分子電解質から構成されている。
 また、電解装置10は、ポテンショスタット64を備えている。ポテンショスタット64は、WE58、RE60、CE62、図1の制御装置70に接続され、制御装置70からの制御信号により、RE60とWE58の間に印加する電圧を変更可能に構成されている。
 ここで、電解装置10における電気分解について説明する。電解装置10(ポテンショスタット64)を制御して、WE58とCE62との間に電圧を印加すると、各電極において、下記式(1)~(3)の電気化学反応が進行する。
 WE58:CO+2H+2e→CO+HO   ・・・(1)
      2H+2e→H   ・・・(2)
 CE62:2HO→O+4H+4e   ・・・(3)
 上記式(1)の反応は、WE58上のCO還元触媒が電解液と接する箇所において進行する。上記式(2)の反応は、WE58の本体部分が電解液と接する箇所において進行する。上記式(3)の反応は、CE62が水と接する箇所において進行する。
 WE58とCE62の間に電圧を印加しながら、送液ポンプ28を運転して水をアノード室54に供給すれば、CE62上において、Hを連続的に生成することができる(上記式(3))。この際、更に、送液ポンプ18を運転して電解液をカソード室52に供給すれば、カソード室52にCO、Hを連続的に供給できる。従って、本実施形態の混合ガス生成装置によれば、WE58上において、COとHを連続的に生成し続けることができる(上記式(1)、(2))。CO、Hは、電解液に対する溶解度が低いので、生成したCO、Hのほぼ全量は、ガスとして存在することになる。
[実施の形態1の特徴]
 上述したように、COおよびHからHCを合成する反応として、FT反応が公知である。ここで、HとCOの混合比率をH:CO=2:1(以下、この比率を「最適比率」と称す。)とすれば、FT反応時におけるエネルギー効率がよいことが分かっている。この点、上記式(1)および(2)で示したように、電解装置10によれば、WE58上でCOおよびHを同時に生成できる。そのため、HとCOの生成比率を予め最適比率としておけば、原料生成と最適比率の調整とを同時進行させることが可能となる。従って、エネルギー効率よくFT反応させることが可能となる。
 しかしながら、HとCOの生成比率は、WE58とCE62の間に印加する電圧により影響を受ける。何故なら、上記(1)の反応と上記(2)の反応とでは、その反応速度が異なるので、印加電圧の値が異なれば生成量に偏りが生じるためである。また、この生成比率は、電解液中のCO濃度およびH濃度によっても影響を受ける。何故なら、反応物の濃度が異なれば反応速度が変わり、生成量も変わるからである。そこで、本実施形態では、CO濃度およびH濃度を検出した上で、最適比率を実現する印加電圧を決定することとした(カソード電圧制御)。
 本実施形態におけるカソード電圧制御について、図3を参照しながら説明する。図3は、最適比率で電気分解した際のカソード電圧Vcと、電解液中のCO濃度およびH濃度との関係の一例を示した図である。ただし、カソード電圧Vcは負の値であるので、図中のカソード電圧Vcは、絶対値として表すものとする。図3に示すように、最適比率を実現するカソード電圧Vcは、電解液中のCO濃度が高くなるほど小さく、電解液中のH濃度が高いほど大きい。従って、図3の太線で囲まれる領域内の濃度およびカソード電圧Vcの条件で電気分解を実施すれば、常時、最適比率を実現できることになる。本図に示す関係は、予め実験等により求められ、マップデータ化された上で制御装置70内部に記憶されているものとする。
 [実施の形態1における具体的な処理]
 次に、図4を参照しながら、上述したカソード電圧制御を実現するための具体的処理について説明する。図4は、本実施形態において、制御装置70により実行されるカソード電圧制御を示すフローチャートである。なお、図4に示すルーチンは、混合ガス生成装置の稼働中に繰り返し実行されるものとする。
 図4に示すルーチンでは、先ず制御装置70は、電解液中のCO濃度およびH濃度を取得する(ステップ100、110)。具体的に、制御装置70は、CO濃度センサ44およびH濃度センサ46の検出信号を取得する。続いて、制御装置70は、ステップ100および110で取得したCO濃度およびH濃度と、図3の関係を示したマップデータとを参照して、カソード電圧Vcを計算する(ステップ120)。続いて、制御装置70は、ステップ120で算出したカソード電圧Vcを出力する(ステップ130)。これにより、WE58とCE62の間に電圧が印加され、上記式(1)~(3)の反応が開始される。なお、ステップ130の処理の実行に際し、制御装置70は、温度制御装置12、COポンプ22、送液ポンプ18,28,42や、混合ガスバルブ36を起動する。これにより、上記式(1)~(3)の反応が連続的に進行し、COおよびHが最適比率で生成する。
 以上、図4のルーチンによれば、CO濃度センサ44およびH濃度センサ46から取得したCO濃度およびH濃度と、図3の関係を示したマップデータとを参照して、カソード電圧Vcを計算できる。従って、COおよびHを最適比率で生成できるので、混合ガスタンク32内のHとCOの混合比率を、最適比率に維持することができる。
 ところで、本実施形態においては、3電極式の電解槽50を使用し、ポテンショスタット64によりRE60とWE58の間に電圧を印加したが、3電極式の電解槽50の代わりに、CE62がRE60を兼ねる2電極式の電解槽を使用してもよい。即ち、WE58とCE62の間に電圧を印加できる構成であれば、本実施形態の電解装置10の変形例として適用が可能である。また、本実施形態においては、カソード室52とアノード室54との間に隔膜56を使用したが、隔膜56は省略されていてもよい。
 なお、本実施形態においては、CO濃度センサ44およびH濃度センサ46が上記第1の発明における「濃度取得手段」に、制御装置70が上記第1の発明における「特性マップ記憶手段」に、それぞれ相当する。また、本実施形態においては、制御装置70が図4のルーチンの一連の処理を実行することにより、上記第1の発明における「電気分解電圧決定手段」が実現されている。
実施の形態2.
 次に、図5および図6を参照しながら、本発明の実施の形態2について説明する。なお、本実施形態の構成は、上記実施の形態1の構成と同一であるため、以下においては、上記実施の形態1との相違点を中心に説明し、同様の事項については、その説明を簡略化または省略する。

 上記実施の形態1によれば、カソード電圧制御の実行により、最適比率を実現するカソード電圧VcをWE58とCE62の間に印加できる。しかしながら、このカソード電圧Vcでの電気分解条件と、電気分解時におけるエネルギー効率が良い条件とは、必ずしも一致しない。つまり、電気分解条件によっては、その電気分解時におけるエネルギー効率が悪い場合がある。従って、カソード電圧制御の実行に当たっては、最適比率だけでなく、良好なエネルギー効率となるように電気分解条件を設定することが望ましい。
 ところで、カソード電圧制御の実行により電気分解が進行すれば、電解液中のCO濃度が減少する(上記式(1)参照)。ここで、図3の説明の際に述べたように、最適比率を実現するカソード電圧Vcは、電解液中のCO濃度が高くなるほど小さくなる。そのため、電解液中のCO濃度が減少すれば、最適比率を実現するカソード電圧Vcが高くなる。故に、電気分解時の消費電力が増加し、電気分解時におけるエネルギー効率が低下する可能性がある。
 この点、上記実施の形態1においては、カソード電圧制御の実行時にCOポンプ22、送液ポンプ18を運転するので、電解液中にCOを補充してそのCO濃度を保持できる。しかしながら、これらのポンプの運転はエネルギー消費を伴うものである。従って、カソード電圧制御の実行時のエネルギー効率という観点から見た場合、電気分解時におけるエネルギー効率だけでなく、CO濃度を保持するためのエネルギー効率をも考慮することが望ましいことになる。
 これらの点に鑑み、本実施形態においては、電気分解の消費エネルギー原単位と、CO濃度保持の消費エネルギー原単位との和が最小となるような条件で、カソード電圧制御を実行することとした(運転条件制御)。ここで、電気分解の消費エネルギー原単位とは、COおよびHの単位生成量当たりの電気分解消費電力として表されるものであり、この消費電力は、カソード電圧Vcに基づいて算出される。また、CO濃度保持の消費エネルギー原単位とは、COおよびHの単位生成量当たりのポンプ消費電力であり、この消費電力は、COポンプ22および送液ポンプ18の駆動電圧に基づいて算出される。
 本実施形態における運転条件制御について、図5を参照しながら説明する。図5は、消費エネルギー原単位と、電解液中のCO濃度およびH濃度との関係の一例を示した図である。図5に示すように、電気分解の消費エネルギー原単位は、電解液中のCO濃度が高くなるほど小さく、電解液中のH濃度が高いほど大きくなる。これは、電気分解の消費エネルギー原単位が、カソード電圧Vcに基づき算出されるためであり、加えて、図3の説明の際に述べたように、カソード電圧Vcは、電解液中のCO濃度が高くなるほど小さく、電解液中のH濃度が高いほど大きくなるためである。
 また、図5に示すように、CO濃度保持の消費エネルギー原単位は、電解液中のCO濃度が高くなるほど大きくなる。これは、CO濃度を高濃度に保持するためには、多くの電力が必要となるためである。そして、これら2つの消費エネルギー原単位の和が最小となるのは、図5に一点鎖線で示したCO濃度(濃度C)である。従って、目標CO濃度を濃度Cに設定してCOポンプ22および送液ポンプ18を運転すれば、エネルギー効率よくカソード電圧制御を実行できる。このような目標CO濃度は、予め実験等により求められ、制御装置70内部に記憶されているものとする。
 [実施の形態2における具体的な処理]
 次に、図6を参照しながら、本実施形態における運転条件制御を実現するための具体的処理について説明する。図6は、本実施形態において、制御装置70により実行される運転条件制御を示すフローチャートである。なお、図6に示すルーチンは、図4に示したルーチンと同時に実行されるものとする。
 図6に示すルーチンでは、先ず制御装置70は、電解液中のCO濃度を取得し(ステップ200)、取得したCO濃度が、CO基準濃度よりも低いか否かを判定する(ステップ210)。ここで、CO基準濃度は、本ルーチンの実行により設定される目標CO濃度であり、その初期値は濃度C(図5参照)に設定されている。
 ステップ210において、取得したCO濃度がCO基準濃度よりも低いと判定された場合は、COの補充が必要と判断できる。そのため、制御装置70は、CO基準濃度を濃度C(図5参照)に設定し(ステップ220)、COポンプ22および送液ポンプ18を運転する(ステップ230)。
 一方、ステップ210において、取得したCO濃度がCO基準濃度よりも高いと判定された場合は、COの補充が不要と判断できる。そのため、制御装置70は、CO基準濃度を濃度Cに設定し(ステップ240)、COポンプ22、送液ポンプ18の運転を停止させる(ステップ250)。
 以上、図6のルーチンによれば、取得したCO濃度が、CO基準濃度よりも低い場合はCO基準濃度を濃度Cに設定した上でCOポンプ22および送液ポンプ18を運転し、CO基準濃度よりも高い場合はCO基準濃度を濃度Cに設定した上でCOポンプ22および送液ポンプ18の運転を停止することができる。従って、エネルギー効率よくカソード電圧制御を実行できる。
 なお、本実施形態においては、COポンプ22および送液ポンプ18が上記第2の発明における「CO濃度調整手段」に相当する。また、本実施形態においては、制御装置70が図6のルーチンの一連の処理を実行することにより、上記第2の発明における「CO濃度制御手段」が実現されている。
実施の形態3.
 次に、図7および図8を参照しながら、本発明の実施の形態3について説明する。なお、本実施形態の構成は、図2のカソード室52にpH調整剤(具体的には、酸)を投入するpH調整剤投入装置を備えた点以外は、上記実施の形態1の構成と同一である。そのため、以下においては、上記実施の形態1との相違点を中心に説明し、同様の事項については、その説明を簡略化または省略する。
[実施の形態3の特徴]
 カソード電圧制御の実行により電気分解が進行すれば、電解液中のCO濃度のみならずH濃度も減少する。ここで、図3の説明の際に述べたように、最適比率を実現するカソード電圧Vcは、電解液中のH濃度が高いほど大きくなる。そのため、電解液中のH濃度が減少すれば、最適比率を実現するカソード電圧Vcが低くなる。故に、電気分解時の消費電力を減少でき、電気分解時におけるエネルギー効率を向上できるので、電解液中のH濃度は低めに設定することが望ましいことになる。
 本実施形態の混合ガス生成装置は、pH調整剤投入装置を備えるので、H濃度センサ46の検出値に応じてpH調整剤投入装置を運転すれば、H濃度を所望の濃度に保持することが可能となる。しかしながら、この装置の運転はエネルギー消費を伴うものである。従って、カソード電圧制御の実行時のエネルギー効率という観点から見た場合、上記実施形態2で述べた2つのエネルギー効率に加え、H濃度を保持するためのエネルギー効率をも考慮することが望ましいことになる。
 そこで、本実施形態では、電気分解の消費エネルギー原単位と、CO濃度保持の消費エネルギー原単位と、H濃度保持の消費エネルギー原単位との総和が最小となるような条件で、カソード電圧制御を実行することとした(運転条件制御)。ここで、H濃度保持の消費エネルギー原単位とは、COおよびHの単位生成量当たりのpH調整剤投入装置消費電力であり、この消費電力は、pH調整剤投入装置の駆動電圧に基づいて算出される。
 本実施形態における運転条件制御について、図7を参照しながら説明する。図7は、消費エネルギー原単位と、電解液中のCO濃度およびH濃度との関係の一例を示した図である。図7に示す電気分解の消費エネルギー原単位と、CO濃度保持の消費エネルギー原単位とは、図5の説明の際に述べたとおりである。また、図7に示すように、H濃度保持の消費エネルギー原単位は、電解液中のH濃度が高くなるほど大きくなる。これは、H濃度を高濃度に保持するためには、多くの電力が必要となるためである。
 そして、これら3つの消費エネルギー原単位の和が最小となるのは、図7の2つの一点鎖線が交差する点(CO濃度:濃度C、H濃度:濃度C)である。従って、目標CO濃度および目標H濃度を、それぞれ濃度Cおよび濃度Cに設定し、COポンプ22、送液ポンプ18やpH調整剤投入装置を運転すれば、エネルギー効率よくカソード電圧制御を実行できる。このような目標CO濃度および目標H濃度は、予め実験等により求められ、制御装置70内部に記憶されているものとする。
 [実施の形態3における具体的な処理]
 次に、図8を参照しながら、本実施形態における運転条件制御を実現するための具体的処理について説明する。図8は、本実施形態において、制御装置70により実行される運転条件制御を示すフローチャートである。なお、図8に示すルーチンは、図6に示したルーチンの代わりに実行されるものとする。
 図8に示すルーチンでは、先ず制御装置70は、電解液中のCO濃度を取得し(ステップ300)、取得したCO濃度が、CO基準濃度よりも低いか否かを判定する(ステップ310)。ここで、CO基準濃度は、本ルーチンの実行により設定される目標CO濃度であり、その初期値は濃度C(図5参照)に設定されている。
 ステップ310において、取得したCO濃度がCO基準濃度よりも低いと判定された場合は、COの補充が必要と判断できる。そのため、制御装置70は、CO基準濃度を濃度C(図5参照)に設定し(ステップ320)、COポンプ22および送液ポンプ18を運転する(ステップ330)。
 一方、ステップ310において、取得したCO濃度がCO基準濃度よりも高いと判定された場合は、COの補充が不要と判断できる。そのため、制御装置70は、CO基準濃度を濃度Cに設定し(ステップ340)、COポンプ22、送液ポンプ18の運転を停止させる(ステップ350)。
 続いて、制御装置70は、電解液中のH濃度を取得し(ステップ360)、取得したH濃度が、H基準濃度よりも低いか否かを判定する(ステップ370)。ここで、H基準濃度は、本ルーチンの実行により設定される目標H濃度であり、その初期値は濃度C(図7参照)に設定されている。
 ステップ370において、取得したH濃度がH基準濃度よりも低いと判定された場合は、Hの補充が必要と判断できる。そのため、制御装置70は、H基準濃度を濃度Cに、CO基準濃度を濃度Cにそれぞれ設定する(図7参照)(ステップ380)。続いて、制御装置70は、pH調整剤投入装置、COポンプ22および送液ポンプ18を運転する(ステップ390)。
 一方、ステップ370において、取得したH濃度がH基準濃度よりも高いと判定された場合は、Hの補充が不要と判断できる。そのため、制御装置70は、H基準濃度を濃度Cに設定する(ステップ400)。また、CO基準濃度については、ステップ320またはステップ340で設定した濃度のままとされる。続いて、制御装置70は、pH調整剤投入装置の運転を停止させる(ステップ410)。また、COポンプ22、送液ポンプ18の運転については、ステップ330またはステップ350の動作が維持される。
 以上、図8のルーチンによれば、取得したCO濃度が、CO基準濃度よりも低い場合はCO基準濃度を濃度Cに設定した上でCOポンプ22および送液ポンプ18を運転し、CO基準濃度よりも高い場合はCO基準濃度を濃度Cに設定した上でCOポンプ22および送液ポンプ18の運転を停止することができる。また、図8のルーチンによれば、取得したH濃度が、H基準濃度よりも低い場合はH基準濃度を濃度Cに設定した上でpH調整剤投入装置を運転し、H基準濃度よりも高い場合はH基準濃度を濃度Cに設定した上での運転を停止することができる。従って、エネルギー効率よくカソード電圧制御を実行できる。
 ところで、本実施形態においては、電気分解の消費エネルギー原単位と、CO濃度保持の消費エネルギー原単位と、H濃度保持の消費エネルギー原単位との総和が最小となるような条件でカソード電圧制御を実行したが、この内からCO濃度保持の消費エネルギー原単位を除き、電気分解の消費エネルギー原単位と、H濃度保持の消費エネルギー原単位との和が最小となるような条件で、カソード電圧制御を実行してもよい。このような条件でカソード電圧制御を実行した場合であっても、エネルギー効率よくカソード電圧制御を実行できる。
 なお、本実施形態においては、pH調整剤投入装置が上記第3の発明における「H濃度調整手段」に相当する。また、本実施形態においては、制御装置70が図8のステップ370~410の一連の処理を実行することにより、上記第3の発明における「H濃度制御手段」が実現されている。

Claims (3)

  1.  水と二酸化炭素(CO)とをそれぞれ電気分解して、水素(H)と一酸化炭素(CO)とを含む混合ガスを所定混合比で生成する混合ガス生成装置であって、
     水およびCOを含む電解液を備える電解槽と、
     前記電解槽に設けられ、電解液中のプロトン(H)濃度およびCO濃度を取得する濃度取得手段と、
     電解液中のH濃度およびCO濃度に、前記所定混合比を実現する電気分解電圧を関連付けた特性マップを記憶する特性マップ記憶手段と、
     前記濃度取得手段により取得したH濃度およびCO濃度を前記特性マップに適用して、前記電気分解電圧を決定する電気分解電圧決定手段と、
     を備えることを特徴とする混合ガス生成装置。
  2.  電解液中のCO濃度を調整可能なCO濃度調整手段と、
     電解液中のCO濃度が、前記CO濃度調整手段による濃度調整で消費されるエネルギーの原単位と、前記電気分解電圧から算出され電気分解で消費されるエネルギーの原単位との和を最小とするCO濃度となるように、前記CO濃度調整手段を制御するCO濃度制御手段と、
     を備えることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の混合ガス生成装置。
  3.  電解液中のH濃度を調整可能なH濃度調整手段と、
     前記H濃度調整手段による濃度調整で消費されるエネルギーの原単位と、前記電気分解電圧から算出され電気分解で消費されるエネルギーの原単位との和を最小とするH濃度となるように、前記H濃度調整手段を制御するH濃度制御手段と、
     を備えることを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の混合ガス生成装置。
