Abstract
본 발명은 특정 구조의 페나진계 화합물 및 상기 화합물을 포함하는 유기 전계 발광 소자에 관한 것으로서, 구체적으로 상기 페나진계 화합물을 인광성 발광층 재료로 적용함으로써, 발광효율, 휘도, 전력효율, 열적 안정성 및 소자 수명 등의 제반 특성이 향상된 유기 발광 소자를 제공할 수 있다.
Description
본 발명은 페나진계 화합물 및 이를 포함하는 유기 전계 발광 소자에 관한 것이다.
일반적으로 유기 발광 현상이란 유기 물질을 이용하여 전기 에너지를 빛 에너지로 전환시켜 주는 현상을 말한다. 유기 발광 현상을 이용하는 유기 전계 발광 소자는 통상적으로 양극(anode), 음극(cathode), 그리고 이들 사이에 개재(介在)된 유기물층을 포함하는 구조를 가진다. 유기물층은 유기 발광 소자의 효율과 안정성을 높이기 위하여 각기 다른 물질로 구성된 다층의 구조로 이루어진 경우가 많으며, 예컨대 정공 주입층, 정공 수송층, 발광층, 전자 수송층, 전자 주입층 등을 포함할 수 있다.
이러한 유기 전계 발광 소자의 구조에서 두 전극 사이에 전압을 걸어주게 되면 양극에서는 정공이, 음극에서는 전자가 각각 유기물층에 주입되고, 주입된 정공과 전자가 발광층에서 재결합되어 전자-정공 쌍인 엑시톤(exciton)을 형성한다. 분자의 파이 전자(pi-electron)가 여기된 상태의 구조를 가진 엑시톤이 다시 바닥상태로 떨어질 때 빛이 나게 된다.
유기 발광 소자에서 유기물층으로 사용되는 재료는 기능에 따라, 발광층 재료와 전하 수송층 재료, 정공 주입층 재료, 정공 수송층 재료, 전자 수송층 재료, 전자 주입층 재료 등으로 분류될 수 있다.
발광층 재료는 발광색에 따라 청색, 녹색, 적색 발광층 재료와 보다 나은 천연색을 구현하기 위해 필요한 노란색 및 주황색 발광층 재료로 구분될 수 있다. 또한, 색순도의 증가와 에너지 전이를 통한 발광 효율을 증가시키기 위하여, 발광층 재료로서 호스트/도판트 계를 사용할 수 있다. 그 원리는 발광층을 주로 구성하는 호스트보다 에너지 대역 간극이 작고 발광 효율이 우수한 인광성 또는 형광성 염료(이하, '도판트'라 함)를 발광층에 소량 혼합하면, 호스트에서 발생한 엑시톤이 도판트로 이송되어 효율이 높은 빛을 내는 것이다. 이때, 호스트의 파장이 도판트의 파장대로 이동하므로, 이용하는 도판트의 종류에 따라 원하는 파장의 빛을 얻을 수 있다.
특히, 인광성 발광층 재료는 형광성 발광층 재료에 비해 이론적으로 100 % 높은 발광 효과를 기대할 수 있으며, 이로 인해 25 %의 발광효율을 갖는 형광성 발광층 재료보다 높은 발광효율을 가질 수 있다. 그러나, 현재 인광성 발광층 재료의 경우, 형광성 발광층 재료에 비해 개발 속도도 느리고, 시제품에 적용시키기에는 수명이 짧다.
전술한 유기 EL 소자가 갖는 우수한 특징들을 충분히 발휘하기 위해서는 소자 내 유기물층을 이루는 물질, 즉 정공 주입층 재료, 정공 수송층 재료, 발광층 재료, 전자 수송층 재료, 전자 주입층 재료 등이 안정하고 효율적인 재료에 의하여 뒷받침되는 것이 선행되어야 하나, 아직까지 안정하고 효율적인 유기 발광 소자용 유기물층 재료의 개발이 충분히 이루어지지 않은 상태이며, 따라서 새로운 재료의 개발이 계속 요구되고 있다. 특히, 발광층 재료로 사용될 수 있는 보다 안정적이고 효율적인 재료의 개발이 필요하다.
본 발명은 전술한 문제점을 해결하기 위해, 발광효율, 휘도, 전력효율, 열적 안정성 및 소자 수명 등의 제반 특성을 향상시킬 수 있는 화합물 및 상기 화합물을 이용한 유기 전계 발광 소자를 제공하고자 한다.
본 발명은 하기 화학식 1로 표시되는 화합물, 바람직하게는 phenazine 계열 화합물을 제공한다.
상기 화학식 1에서,

또한, 본 발명은 (i) 양극, (ii) 음극, 및 (iii) 상기 양극과 음극 사이에 개재(介在)된 1층 이상의 유기물층을 포함하는 유기 전계 발광 소자로서, 상기 1층 이상의 유기물층 중 적어도 하나는 상기 화학식 1로 표시되는 화합물을 포함하는 것이 특징인 유기 전계 발광 소자를 제공한다.
상기 화학식 1로 표시되는 화합물은 발광층에 포함될 수 있다.
본 발명에서는 상기 화학식 1로 표시되는 화합물을 유기 발광 소자용 재료, 바람직하게는 인광성 발광층 재료로 적용함으로써, 종래 발광 물질을 사용하는 경우에 비해 호스트에서 도판트로의 에너지 이동이 원활하게 이루어질 수 있기 때문에, 유기 전계 발광 소자의 발광효율, 휘도, 전력효율, 열적 안정성 및 소자 수명 등의 제반 특성이 향상될 수 있고, 나아가 풀 칼라(full color) 유기 전계 발광 패널의 성능 및 수명이 극대화될 수 있다.
이하, 본 발명에 대하여 상세히 설명한다.
본 발명에 따른 상기 화학식 1로 표시되는 화합물은 유기 발광 소자에서 인광성 발광층 재료, 구체적으로 인광성 호스트(host)로서 사용될 수 있는 것으로서, 분자 내에 3중항 에너지가 높은 트리페닐렌기와 같은 작용기가 결합되어 에너지 밴드갭을 조절할 수 있고, 또한 상기 화합물을 유기 전계 발광 소자에서 사용시 호스트에서 도판트로의 에너지 이동이 원활하여 구동 전압을 낮출 수 있다. 이로써, 상기 화합물을 도판트(dopant)와 결합할 수 있는 호스트(host)로서 포함하는 유기 전계 발광 소자는 구동 전압 및 수명 특성이 향상될 뿐만 아니라, 발광효율, 휘도, 전력효율, 열적 안정성 등 제반 특성이 향상될 수 있다.
상기 화학식 1로 표시되는 화합물에 있어서, 상기 Ar1 내지 Ar4는 각각 독립적으로 할로겐, 아미노, 니트릴, 니트로, C1~C40의 알킬, C2~C40의 알케닐, C1~C40의 알콕시, C3~C40의 사이클로알킬, 핵원자수 3 내지 40의 헤테로사이클로알킬, C6~C40의 아릴 및 핵원자수 5 내지 40의 헤테로아릴로 이루어진 군에서 선택된 1 이상의 치환기로 치환될 수 있다.
바람직하게는, 상기 Ar3 및 Ar4 중 적어도 하나는 하기 화학식 2 내지 7로 이루어진 군에서 선택된 화학식으로 표시될 수 있다.

본 발명에 따른 상기 화학식 1로 표시되는 화합물의 예로는 하기 화학식 1a로 표시되는 화합물이 있는데, 이에 제한되지 않는다.

상기 화학식 1a에서, 상기 Ar3, Ar4, X, 및 Y는 상기 화학식 1에서 정의한 바와 동일하다.
바람직하게는, 상기 화학식 1a의 Ar3 및 Ar4 중 적어도 하나는 상기 화학식 2 내지 7로 이루어진 군에서 선택된 화학식으로 표시될 수 있다.
상기 화학식 1로 표시되는 화합물의 구체적인 예로는 하기 화합물 In-1 내지 In-24 등이 있는데, 이에 제한되지 않는다.
본 발명에서 사용된 "방향족 고리"는 단독 고리 또는 2 이상의 고리가 조합된, 탄소수가 6 내지 40의 방향족 부위를 의미한다. 2 이상의 고리가 서로 단순 부착(pendant)되거나 축합된(fused) 형태로 부착될 수 있다. 이의 예로는 아릴, 헤테로아릴, 아릴옥시, 아릴아미노, 디아릴아미노, 아릴알킬 등이 있으며, 구체적으로 페닐(phenyl), 바이페닐(biphenyl), 나프틸(naphthyl), 안트라세닐(anthracenyl), 다이페닐아미노페닐(diphenylaminophenyl), 페난트릴(phenanthryl), 피레닐(pyrenyl), 또는 터페닐(terphenyl) 등이 있는데, 이에 제한되지 않는다.
"알킬"은 탄소수 1 내지 40의 직쇄 또는 측쇄의 포화 탄화수소이며, 이의 예로는 메틸, 에틸, 프로필, 이소부틸, sec-부틸, 펜틸, iso-아밀, 헥실 등이 있으나, 이에 한정되지 않는다.
"알케닐(alkenyl)"은 탄소수 2 내지 40의 알킬의 중앙 또는 말단에 하나 이상의 탄소-탄소 이중결합을 포함하는 라디칼을 의미한다. 알케닐의 예로는 에틸렌, 프로필렌, 부틸렌, 헥실렌 등이 있는데, 이에 한정되지 않는다.
"알키닐(alkynl)"은 탄소수 2 내지 40의 알킬의 중앙 또는 말단에 하나 이상의 탄소-탄소 삼중결합을 포함하는 라디칼을 의미한다.
"아릴(aryl)"은 단독 고리 또는 2 이상의 고리가 조합된, 탄소수 6 내지 40의 방향족 부위를 의미하며, 본원에서 "아릴옥시", "아릴알킬" 등에서 언급되고 있다. 2 이상의 고리가 서로 단순 부착(pendant)되거나 축합된(fused) 형태로 부착될 수 있다. 아릴의 예로는 페닐, 비페닐, 나프틸, 안트라센, 안트릴, 페난트릴 등이 있으나, 이에 한정되지 않는다.
"헤테로아릴"은 핵원자수 5 내지 40의 모노헤테로사이클릭 또는 폴리헤테로사이클릭 방향족 부위를 의미하며, 고리 중 하나 이상의 탄소, 바람직하게는 1 내지 3개의 탄소가 N, O 또는 S와 같은 헤테로원자로 치환된다. 2 이상의 고리가 서로 단순 부착(pendant)되거나 축합된(fused) 형태로 부착될 수 있다. 나아가 아릴기와의 축합된 형태도 포함하는 것으로 해석된다. 헤테로아릴의 예로는 피리딜, 피라지닐, 피리미디닐, 피리다지닐, 트리아지닐과 같은 6-원 모노사이클릭 고리; 페녹사티에닐(phenoxathienyl), 인돌리지닐(indolizinyl), 인돌릴(indolyl), 퓨리닐(purinyl), 퀴놀릴(quinolyl), 벤조티아졸(benzothiazole), 카바졸릴(carbazolyl)과 같은 폴리사이크릭 고리를 포함하고, 2-퓨나릴, N-이미다졸릴, 2-이속사졸릴, 2-피리디닐, 2-피리미디닐 등도 포함하는 것으로 해석하나 이에 한정되지 않는다.
"아릴옥시"는 탄소수 6 내지 40의 페닐옥시, 나프틸옥시, 디페닐옥시 등을 포함하나, 이에 한정되는 것을 아니다.
"알킬옥시"는 탄소수 1 내지 40의 알킬로 치환된 옥시아고, "아릴아미노"는 탄소수 5 내지 40의 아릴로 치환된 아미노이며, "디아릴아미노"는 탄소수 5 내지 40의 아릴
"아릴알킬(arylalkyl)"은 아랄킬(aralkyl)로도 불리며, 이의 예로는 벤질, 페닐에틸 등이 있으나, 이에 한정되지 않는다.
"사이클로알킬"은 탄소수 3 내지 40의 모노사이클릭 또는 폴리사이클릭 비방향족 탄화수소 그룹을 포함한다. 이러한 사이클로알킬의 예로는 사이클로프로필, 사이클로펜틸, 사이클로헥실, 놀보닐(norbornyl) 등이 있지만, 이에 한정되지 않는다.
"헤테로사이클로알킬"은 핵원자수 3 내지 40의 비방향족 부위를 의미하며, 고리 중 하나 이상의 탄소, 바람직하게는 1 내지 3개의 탄소가 N, O 또는 S와 같은 헤테로 원자로 치환된다. 이의 비제한적인 예로는 모르폴린, 피페라진 등이 있다.
"알콕시"는 1 내지 40의 탄소 원자가 산소와 부착된 알킬을 의미하며, 직쇄, 측쇄 또는 사이클릭 구조를 포함하는 것으로 해석한다. 알콕시의 예로는 메톡시, 에톡시, n-프로폭시, 1-프로폭시, t-부톡시, n-부톡시, 펜톡시 등이 있는데, 이에 제한되지 않는다.
본 발명의 화학식 1로 표시되는 화합물은 일반적인 화합물의 합성방법에 따라 합성될 수 있다. 본 발명의 화합물에 대한 상세한 합성 과정은 후술하는 합성예에서 구체적으로 기술하도록 한다.
한편, 본 발명은 전술한 화학식 1로 표시되는 화합물을 포함하는 유기 전계 발광 소자를 제공한다.
구체적으로, 본 발명은 (i) 양극(anode), (ii) 음극(cathode), 및 (iii) 상기 양극과 음극 사이에 개재(介在)된 1층 이상의 유기물층을 포함하는 유기 전계 발광 소자로서, 상기 1층 이상의 유기물층 중 적어도 하나는 상기 화학식 1로 표시되는 화합물을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
상기 화학식 1로 표시되는 화합물을 포함하는 유기물층은 발광층인 것이 바람직하다. 상기 화학식 1로 표시되는 화합물이 발광층의 재료, 예컨대 인광성 도펀트(dopant)와 결합할 수 있는 인광성 호스트(host) 재료로 사용될 경우, 호스트에서 도판트로 에너지가 원활하게 이동할 수 있기 때문에, 상기 유기 전계 발광 소자는 발광효율, 휘도, 전력효율, 열적 안정성 및 소자 수명이 향상될 수 있다.
한편, 본 발명에 따른 유기 전계 발광 소자에서, 본 발명의 화학식 1로 표시되는 화합물을 포함하는 유기물층 이외의 유기물층은 정공주입층, 정공수송층, 전자주입층 및/또는 전자수송층일 수 있다.
본 발명에 따른 유기 전계 발광 소자 구조의 비제한적인 예를 들면, 기판, 양극, 정공 주입층, 정공 수송층, 발광층, 전자 수송층 및 음극이 순차적으로 적층된 것일 수 있다. 이때, 상기 발광층은 상기 화학식 1로 표시되는 화합물을 포함하는 것이다. 상기 전자 수송층 위에는 전자 주입층이 위치할 수도 있다. 또한, 상기 발광층과 전자 수소층 사이에는 정공 저지층이 위치할 수도 있다.
또한, 본 발명에 따른 유기 전계 발광 소자는 전술한 바와 같이 양극, 1층 이상의 유기물층 및 음극이 순차적으로 적층된 구조뿐만 아니라, 전극과 유기물층 계면에 절연층 또는 접착층이 삽입될 수도 있다.
본 발명에 따른 유기 전계 발광 소자에 있어서, 상기 화학식 1로 표시되는 화합물을 포함하는 상기 유기물층은 진공 증착법이나 용액 도포법에 의하여 형성될 수 있다. 상기 용액 도포법의 예로는 스핀 코팅, 딥코팅, 닥터 블레이딩, 잉크젯 프린팅 또는 열 전사법 등이 있으나, 이들에만 한정되지 않는다.
본 발명에 따른 유기 전계 발광 소자는 유기물층 중 1층 이상을 본 발명의 화학식 1로 표시되는 화합물을 포함하도록 형성하는 것을 제외하고는, 당 기술 분야에 알려져 있는 재료 및 방법을 이용하여 유기물층 및 전극을 형성함으로써 제조될 수 있다.
예컨대, 기판으로는 실리콘 웨이퍼, 석영 또는 유리판, 금속판, 플라스틱 필름이나 시트 등이 사용될 수 있다.
양극 물질로는 바나듐, 크롬, 구리, 아연, 금과 같은 금속 또는 이들의 합금; 아연산화물, 인듐산화물, 인듐 주석 산화물(ITO), 인듐 아연 산화물(IZO)과 같은 금속 산화물; ZnO:Al 또는 SnO2:Sb와 같은 금속과 산화물의 조합; 폴리티오펜, 폴리(3-메틸티오펜), 폴리[3,4-(에틸렌-1,2-디옥시)티오펜](PEDT), 폴리피롤 및 폴리아닐린과 같은 전도성 고분자; 또는 카본블랙 등이 있으나, 이들에만 한정되는 것은 아니다.
음극 물질로는 마그네슘, 칼슘, 나트륨, 칼륨, 타이타늄, 인듐, 이트륨, 리튬, 가돌리늄, 알루미늄, 은, 주석, 또는 납과 같은 금속 또는 이들의 합금; LiF/Al 또는 LiO2/Al과 같은 다층 구조 물질 등이 있으나, 이들에만 한정되는 것은 아니다.
또한, 정공 주입층 재료, 정공 수송층 재료 및 전자 수송층 재료, 경우에 따라 전자 주입층 재료 및/또는 정공 저지층 재료는 특별히 한정되는 것은 아니며, 당업계에 알려진 통상의 물질이 사용될 수 있다.
이하 본 발명을 실시예를 통하여 상세히 설명하면 다음과 같다. 단, 하기 실시예는 본 발명을 예시하는 것일 뿐 본 발명이 하기 실시예에 의해 한정되는 것은 아니다.
<실시예 1>
<실시예 1-1> 화합물 In-1의 합성
(합성 단계 1-1) 중간체 4,5-diphenylcyclohexa-3,5-diene-1,2-dione의 합성
[반응식 1-1]
반응식 1-1의 화합물 1 (4,5-dibromocyclohexa-3,5-diene-1,2-dione) 40 g (1 eq, 0.15 mol), phenylboronic acid 22.01 g (2.2 eq, 0.36 mol), 및tetrakis(triphenylphosphine)palladium(0)[Pd(PPh3)4 5.19 g (0.03 eq, 0.0045 mol)을 2M의 K2CO3 포화 수용액 100 ㎖ 및 toluene 500 ㎖에 넣고 용해시킨 후, 12 시간 동안 가열 교반하였다.
반응이 종료된 후, 반응 용액을 Celite를 통해 필터링한 다음, 디클로로메탄(dichloromethane)으로 추출하고, hexane으로 재결정하여 중간체인 화합물 2(4,5-diphenylcyclohexa-3,5-diene-1,2-dione) 34.6 g (수율: 88.7 %)을 얻었다.

상기 합성 단계 1-1에서 얻은 화합물 2 (4,5-diphenylcyclohexa-3,5-diene-1,2-dione) 24 g (1 eq, 0.13 mol)을 FeCl3 42.3 g (2 eq. 0.261 mol)과 혼합한 후, 이들을 디클로로메탄 500 ㎖에 첨가하였다. 이후, 반응 용액을 상온에서 24 시간 동안 교반하였다.
반응이 완료된 후, 반응 생성물을 증류수로 세척 및 추출한 다음, Silica filter로 필터링하여 용매를 제거하고, 이후 컬럼 크로마토그래피를 통해 정제하여 중간체인 화합물 3 (triphenylene-2,3-dione) 26.1 g (수율: 78 %)을 얻었다.

상기 합성 단계 1-2에서 얻은 화합물 3 (triphenylene-2,3-dione) 25 g (1 eq, 0.096 mol) 및 4-bromobenzene-1,2-diamine 19.9 g (1.1 eq, 0.106 mol)을 혼합한 후, 이들을 아세트산(acetic acid) 300 ㎖에 첨가하여 용해시킨 후 12시간 동안 가열 환류 교반하였다. 이후, 반응 용액을 증류수에 넣어 얻은 고체를 필터링한 후 증류수로 여러 번 세척한 다음, 여과된 고체를 컬럼크로마토그래피를 통해 정제하여 중간체인 화합물 4 (12-bromo-10,15-dihydrophenanthro[9,10-b]phenazine) 26.8 g (수율: 64 %)을 얻었다.

상기 합성 단계 1-3에서 얻은 화합물 4 (12-bromo-10,15-dihydrophenanthro[9,10-b]phenazine) 25 g (1 eq, 0.06 mol), iodobenzene 27.2 g (2.2 eq, 0.133 mol) 및 Pd(PPh3)4 2.07 g (0.03 eq, 1.8 mmol)을 혼합한 후, 이들을 2M의 K2CO3 포화 수용액 70 ㎖ 및 toluene 300 ㎖에 넣어 용해시킨 후 12 시간 동안 가열 교반하였다.
반응이 종료된 후, 반응 용액을 Celite를 통해 필터링한 다음, 디클로로메탄으로 추출하고, 컬럼크로마토그래피를 통해 정제하여 중간체인 화합물 5 (12-bromo-10,15-diphenyl-10,15-dihydrophenanthro[9,10-b]phenazine) 24.3 g (수율: 72 %)을 얻었다.

(합성 단계 1-5) - 화합물 In-1의 합성

상기 합성 단계 1-4에서 얻은 화합물 5 (12-bromo-10,15-diphenyl-10,15-dihydrophenanthro[9,10-b]phenazine) 10 g (1 eq, 0.017 mol), dibenzo[b,d]thiophen-4-ylboronic acid 4.65 g (1.2 eq, 0.02 mol), 및 Pd(PPh3)4 0.65 g (0.03 eq, 5.7 mmol)을 혼합한 후, 이들을 2M의 K2CO3 포화 수용액 50 ㎖ 및 Toluene 250 ㎖에 넣어 용해시킨 후 12 시간 동안 가열 교반하였다.
반응이 종료된 후 반응액을 Celite를 통해 필터링한 다음, 디클로로메탄으로 추출하고 컬럼 크로마토그래피를 통해 최종 화합물 In-1 10.1 g (수율: 88.7 %)을 얻었다.

<실시예 1-2> - 유기 전계 발광 소자의 제조
하기와 같은 방법으로 유기 전계 발광 소자를 제조하였다.
1500 Å의 두께로 ITO (Indium tin oxide)가 박막 코팅된 유리 기판을 증류수 초음파로 세척하였다. 증류수 세척이 끝나면 이소프로필 알코올, 아세톤, 메탄올 등의 용제로 초음파 세척을 하고 건조시킨 후 플라즈마 세정기로 이송시킨 다음, 산소 플라즈마를 이용하여 상기 기판을 5 분간 세정한 후 진공 층착기로 기판을 이송하였다.
상기와 같이 준비된 ITO 투명 전극(양극) 위에 DS-205(두산社)를 800 Å의 두께로 열 진공 증착하여 정공 주입층을 형성한 후, 상기 정공 주입층 위에 a-NPB(N, N-di(naphthalene-1-yl)-N, N-diphenylbenzidine)을 150 Å의 두께로 진공 증착하여 정공 수송층을 형성한 다음, 여기에 실시예 1-1에서 합성된 화합물 In-1 및 Ir(ppy)3를 300 Å의 두께로 진공 증착하여 발광층을 형성하였다.
이어서, 상기 발광층 위에 BCP (2,9-dimethyl-4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline)를 200 Å의 두께로 정공 저지층을 형성한 후, Alq3을 250 Å의 두께로 진공 증착하여 전자 수송층을 형성하였다.
이후, 상기 전자 수소층 위에 LiF를 10 Å의 두께로 증착하여 전자 주입층을 형성한 후, 상기 전자 주입층 위에 알루미늄(Al)을 2000 Å의 두께로 진공 증착하여 음극을 형성함으로써 유기 전계 발광 소자를 제조하였다.
<실시예 2>
<실시예 2-1> 화합물 In-3의 합성
상기 실시예 1-1의 합성 단계 1-5에서 사용된 dibenzo[b,d]thiophen-4-ylboronic acid 대신에 2-(dibenzo[b,d]thiophen-4-yl)phenylboronic acid을 사용하는 것을 제외하고는, 상기 실시예 1-1의 합성 단계 1-5와 동일하게 수행하여 흰색 고체의 화합물 In-3 17.4 g (수율: 89.9 %)을 얻었다.

상기 실시예 1-1의 합성 단계 1-5에서 사용된 dibenzo[b,d]thiophen-4-ylboronic acid 대신에 9H-carbazole을 사용하는 것을 제외하고는, 상기 실시예 1-1의 합성 단계 1-5와 동일하게 수행하여 흰색 고체의 화합물 In-6 11.9 g (수율: 82.1 %)을 얻었다.

<실시예 4-2> 유기 전계 발광 소자의 제조
상기 실시예 1-2에서 발광층 물질로서 사용된 화합물 In-1 대신에 상기 실시예 4-1에서 합성된 화합물 In-7를 사용하는 것을 제외하고는, 실시예 1-2와 동일하게 수행하여 유기 전계 발광 소자를 제조하였다.

<실시예 5-1> 화합물 In-8의 합성
상기 실시예 1-1의 합성 단계 1-5에서 사용된 dibenzo[b,d]thiophen-4-ylboronic acid 대신에 6,9-diphenyl-9H-carbazol-3-ylboronic acid를 사용하는 것을 제외하고는, 상기 실시예 1-1의 합성 단계 1-5와 동일하게 수행하여 흰색 고체의 화합물 In-8 10.3 g (수율: 83.4 %)을 얻었다.

<실시예 5-2> 유기 전계 발광 소자의 제조
상기 실시예 1-2에서 발광층 물질로서 사용된 화합물 In-1 대신에 상기 실시예 5-1에서 합성된 화합물 In-8을 사용하는 것을 제외하고는, 실시예 1-2와 동일하게 수행하여 유기 전계 발광 소자를 제조하였다.

<실시예 6-1> 화합물 In-9의 합성
상기 실시예 1-1의 합성 단계 1-5에서 사용된 dibenzo[b,d]thiophen-4-ylboronic acid 대신에 3,6-diphenyl-9H-carbazole을 사용하는 것을 제외하고는, 상기 실시예 1-1의 합성 단계 1-5와 동일하게 수행하여 흰색 고체의 화합물 In-9 14.2 g (수율: 86.4 %)을 얻었다.

<실시예 6-2> 유기 전계 발광 소자의 제조
상기 실시예 1-2에서 발광층 물질로서 사용된 화합물 In-1 대신에 상기 실시예 6-1에서 합성된 화합물 In-9를 사용하는 것을 제외하고는, 실시예 1-2와 동일하게 수행하여 유기 전계 발광 소자를 제조하였다.
<실시예 7>
<실시예 7-1> 화합물 In-11의 합성
상기 실시예 1-1의 합성 단계 1-5에서 사용된 dibenzo[b,d]thiophen-4-ylboronic acid 대신에 2-(9H-carbazol-9-yl)phenylboronic acid를 사용하는 것을 제외하고는, 상기 실시예 1-1의 합성 단계 1-5와 동일하게 수행하여 흰색 고체의 화합물 In-11 13.2 g (수율: 85.9 %)을 얻었다.

<실시예 7-2> 유기 전계 발광 소자의 제조
상기 실시예 1-2에서 발광층 물질로서 사용된 화합물 In-1 대신에 상기 실시예 7-1에서 합성된 화합물 In-11을 사용하는 것을 제외하고는, 실시예 1-2와 동일하게 수행하여 유기 전계 발광 소자를 제조하였다.
<실시예 8>
<실시예 8-1> 화합물 In-13의 합성
상기 실시예 1-1의 합성 단계 1-5에서 사용된 dibenzo[b,d]thiophen-4-ylboronic acid 대신에 (chloromethanetriyl)tribenzene을 사용하는 것을 제외하고는, 상기 실시예 1-1의 합성 단계 1-5와 동일하게 수행하여 흰색 고체의 화합물 In-13 9.6 g (수율: 76.7 %)을 얻었다.

HRMS for [M]+: 727.
<실시예 8-2> 유기 전계 발광 소자의 제조
상기 실시예 1-2에서 발광층 물질로서 사용된 화합물 In-1 대신에 상기 실시예 8-1에서 합성된 화합물 In-13을 사용하는 것을 제외하고는, 실시예 1-2와 동일하게 수행하여 유기 전계 발광 소자를 제조하였다.
<실시예 9>
<실시예 9-1> 화합물 In-16의 합성
상기 실시예 1-1의 합성 단계 1-5에서 사용된 dibenzo[b,d]thiophen-4-ylboronic acid 대신에 3'-(9-phenyl-9H-carbazol-3-yl)biphenyl-3-ylboronic acid을 사용하는 것을 제외하고는, 상기 실시예 1-1의 합성 단계 1-5와 동일하게 수행하여 흰색 고체의 화합물 In-16 13.8 g (수율: 72.6 %)을 얻었다.

<실시예 9-2> 유기 전계 발광 소자의 제조
상기 실시예 1-2에서 발광층 물질로서 사용된 화합물 In-1 대신에 상기 실시예 9-1에서 합성된 화합물 In-16을 사용하는 것을 제외하고는, 실시예 1-2와 동일하게 수행하여 유기 전계 발광 소자를 제조하였다.
<비교예 1> 유기 전계 발광 소자의 제조
실시예 1-2에서 발광층의 형성시 사용된 화합물 In-1 대신에 Green 인광성 소자에서 많이 사용되는 호스트 재료인 CBP(4,4-dicarbazolybiphenyl, 또는 4,4'-di(9H-carbazol-9-yl)biphenyl)를 사용한 것을 제외하고는, 실시예 1과 동일한 방법으로 수행하여 유기 전계 발광 소자를 제조하였다.
<실험예 1> 유기 전계 발광 소자의 구동 전압 및 발광 효율
실시예 1 내지 9 및 비교예 1에서 각각 제조된 유기 전계 발광 소자에 대하여 전류밀도 10 mA/㎠에서의 발광 효율을 측정하였고, 그 결과를 하기 표 1에 나타내었다.
실험 결과, 본 발명에 따른 화합물을 사용한 실시예 1 내지 9의 유기 전계 발광 소자는 종래 CBP를 사용한 비교예 1의 유기 전계 발광 소자보다 구동 전압이 낮고, 또한 발광 효율이 높은 것을 나타났다. 이로부터 본 발명에 따른 화합물이 유기 전계 발광 소자의 재료로서 사용될으로써, 소자의 구동 전압 및 발광 효율이 향상될 수 있다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.
<실험예 2> 유기 전계 발광 소자의 수명 특성
실시예 1 내지 9 및 비교예 1에서 각각 제조된 유기 전계 발광 소자에 대하여, 9000 nit로 하여 소자의 구동 시간 경과에 따라 구동 시작시의 휘도의 97 %에 해당되는 휘도로 감소하는 데까지 걸린 시간의 평균값을 하기 표 2에 나타내었다.
시험 결과, 본 발명에 따른 화합물을 사용한 실시예 1 내지 9의 유기 전계 발광 소자는 종래 CBP를 사용한 비교예 1의 유기 전계 발광 소자보다 수명 특성이 우수한 것으로 나타났다.
이상을 통해 본 발명의 바람직한 실시예 1~9에 대하여 설명하였지만, 본 발명은 이에 한정되는 것이 아니고 특허청구범위와 발명의 상세한 설명의 범위 안에서 여러 가지로 변형하여 실시하는 것이 가능하고 이 또한 본 발명의 범위에 속하는 것은 당연하다.
Claims (7)
- 하기 화학식 1로 표시되는 화합물:[화학식 1](상기 화학식 1에서,상기 Ar1 내지 Ar4는 서로 동일하거나 상이하고, 각각 독립적으로 수소, 중수소, 및 C6~C40의 방향족 고리로 이루어진 군에서 선택되거나, 또는 인접하는 기와 축합(fused) 지방족 고리, 축합 방향족 고리, 축합 헤테로지방족 고리 또는 축합 헤테로방향족 고리를 형성할 수 있는 기로서,상기 Ar1 내지 Ar4 중 적어도 하나는 C6~C40의 방향족 고리이거나, 또는 인접하는 기와 축합(fused) 지방족 고리, 축합 방향족 고리, 축합 헤테로지방족 고리 또는 축합 헤테로방향족 고리를 형성할 수 있는 기이고;상기 X 및 Y는 각각 독립적으로 NA1, S 및 O로 이루어진 군에서 선택되며, 또는 Y는 직접 연결될 수 있고,상기 A1은 수소, 중수소, C1~C40의 알킬, C2~C40의 알케닐, C2~C40의 알키닐, C6~C40의 아릴, 핵원자수 5 내지 40의 헤테로아릴, C6~C40의 아릴옥시, C1~C40의 알킬옥시, C6~C40의 아릴아미노, C6~C40의 디아릴아미노, (C6~C40의 아릴)C1~C40의 알킬, C3~C40의 사이클로알킬 및 핵원자수 3 내지 40의 헤테로사이클로알킬로 이루어진 군에서 선택되며;상기 R1 내지 R4는 서로 동일하거나 상이하고, 각각 독립적으로 수소, 중수소, C1~C40의 알킬, C2~C40의 알케닐, C2~C40의 알키닐, C6~C40의 아릴, 핵원자수 5 내지 40의 헤테로아릴, C6~C40의 아릴옥시, C1~C40의 알킬옥시, C6~C40의 아릴아미노, C6~C40의 디아릴아미노, (C6~C40의 아릴)C1~C40의 알킬, C3~C40의 사이클로알킬 및 핵원자수 3 내지 40의 헤테로사이클로알킬로 이루어진 군에서 선택되고; 또는 인접하는 기와 축합(fused) 지방족 고리, 축합 방향족 고리, 축합 헤테로지방족 고리 또는 축합 헤테로방향족 고리를 형성할 수 있는 기임).
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 Ar1 내지 Ar4는 서로 동일하거나 상이하고, 각각 독립적으로 할로겐, 아미노, 니트릴, 니트로, C1~C40의 알킬, C2~C40의 알케닐, C1~C40의 알콕시, C3~C40의 사이클로알킬, 및 핵원자수 3 내지 40의 헤테로사이클로알킬, C6~C40의 아릴 및 핵원자수 5 내지 40의 헤테로아릴로 이루어진 군에서 선택된 1 이상의 치환기로 치환된 것이 특징인 화학식 1로 표시되는 화합물.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 R1 내지 R4는 서로 동일하거나 상이하고, 각각 독립적으로 C1~C40의 알킬, C2~C40의 알케닐, C1~C40의 알콕시, C3~C40의 사이클로알킬, 핵원자수 3 내지 40의 헤테로사이클로알킬, C6~C40의 아릴 및 핵원자수 5 내지 40의 헤테로아릴로 이루어진 군에서 선택되는 1 이상의 치환기로 치환된 것이 특징인 화학식 1로 표시되는 화합물.
- (i) 양극, (ii) 음극, 및 (iii) 상기 양극과 음극 사이에 개재(介在)된 1층 이상의 유기물층을 포함하는 유기 전계 발광 소자로서,상기 1층 이상의 유기물층 중 적어도 하나는 제1항 내지 제5항 중 어느 한 항에 기재된 화학식 1로 표시되는 화합물을 포함하는 것이 특징인 유기 전계 발광 소자.
- 제6항에 있어서, 상기 화학식 1로 표시되는 화합물을 포함하는 유기물층은 발광층인 것이 특징인 유기 전계 발광 소자.
