L'invention concerne un couvercle en carton empilable (1, 1a, 1 b, 1c, 1d) comprenant : un élément couvercle sensiblement plat (2) destiné à recouvrir une ouverture ménagée dans un contenant lorsque le couvercle (1) est fixé sur le contenant, ledit élément couvercle (2) présentant une face supérieure (2a) et une face inférieure (2b), cette dernière étant destinée à se trouver face au contenant lors de la fixation du couvercle (1); un épaulement inférieur (3) s'étendant le long du bord extérieur de l'élément couvercle (2) et au moins partiellement vers le bas à partir de la face inférieure (2b) de l'élément couvercle (2) afin de permettre une interaction avec le contenant lorsque le couvercle (1) est fixé, et un épaulement supérieur (4) s'étendant le long du bord extérieur de l'élément couvercle (2) sur la face supérieure (2a) de l'élément couvercle (2), le couvercle (1) étant agencé de sorte que l'épaulement inférieur (3b) du premier couvercle (1b) chevauche au moins une partie de l'épaulement supérieur (4c) du deuxième couvercle (1c), lorsque le premier et le deuxième couvercle (1b, 1c) sont empilés l'un sur l'autre. L'invention est caractérisée en ce que la distance entre la périphérie extérieure de l'épaulement supérieur (4) et une ligne médiane imaginaire passant à travers un centre (C) de l'élément couvercle (2), au moins sur le segment où l'épaulement inférieur (3b) du premier couvercle (1b) chevauche au moins une partie de l'épaulement supérieur (4c) du deuxième couvercle (1c) lors de l'empilage, est sensiblement inférieure ou égale à la distance entre la périphérie interne de l'épaulement inférieur (3) et ladite ligne médiane dans une position arbitraire le long du bord extérieur de l'élément couvercle (2), la hauteur de l'épaulement supérieur (4) au-dessus de la face supérieure (2a) de l'élément couvercle (2) ainsi que la forme et l'étendue de l'épaulement inférieur (3) à partir de la face inférieure (2b) de l'élément couvercle (2) sont adaptées de sorte que l'épaulement inférieur (3) n'est pas sensiblement plaqué contre un épaulement inférieur correspondant sur un couvercle adjacent lors de l'empilage d'une pluralité de couvercles. L'invention concerne également un dispositif et un procédé de fabrication d'un couvercle en carton empilable (1) du type décrit ci-dessus.
