Abstract

Resumen. La presente invención describe moléculas de ácido nucleico que codifican proteínas de la familia Cry insecticidas derivadas de Bacillus thuringiensis, que presentan actividad citotóxica contra células de cáncer y/o tumores de humanos y/o animales, pero no contra células normales. Asimismo, la presente invención provee proteínas y composiciones de proteínas de la familia Cry derivadas de la bacteria Bacillus thuringiensis, que exhiben actividad citotóxica preferentemente contra células de cáncer de humanos y/o animales, sin afectar a las células normales. Las proteínas Cry de la invención no presentan actividad hemolítica ni pertenecen al grupo de las parasporinas. La invención también se refiere a métodos para tratar células de cáncer y/o tumores de humanos y/o animales, así como para prevenir metástasis, empleando proteínas Cry insecticidas de Bacillus thuringiensis.
