Abstract

The invention relates to a current-generating device, in particular a range extender 1 for a motor vehicle, the device comprising a frame 5, a current-generating unit 2, which is mounted in the frame 5 and has a shaft 8, in particular a current-generating unit 2 which comprises an internal combustion engine 3 and a generator 4 which is rigidly coupled to the latter, and at least one bearing element 11 for supporting the frame 5 with respect to a further component, in particular the chassis or bodywork 15 of a motor vehicle. The current-generating unit 2 is accommodated in the frame 5 in such a way that the current-generating unit 2 can perform a pivot movement about a geometric axis which coincides with the shaft 8. In a preferred embodiment, the current-generating unit 2 comprises a reciprocating piston engine 3 and is mounted in the frame 5 by means of at least one rotary bearing 9 in which the shaft 8 is rotatably mounted. The current-generating unit 2 can furthermore be supported relative to the frame 5 by a moment support 10.
