Any variations in any of the television parameters may be used as switching criteria, such as brightness, contrast, sound or quantity of black, duration or value of the black.

Each channel has its own programming, and the software in the device 70 makes the tuner 20 switch from the current channel to another channel when the command is given. This is possible on all the televisions which are tuned in to the same channel at that moment, which is then changed.

Or it can turn on the display 40 and set the volume to maximum to broadcast a public safety announcement, for example during an earthquake.

Abstract

L'invention porte sur un dispositif de commande automatique pour une télévision pour la commande automatique d'une télévision et de ses fonctions, la télévision ayant (i) un récepteur approprié pour recevoir des signaux sans fil d'une unité de commande à distance, et (ii) un circuit régulé et/ou commandé par le récepteur par l'intermédiaire d'instructions codées selon un protocole de données prédéfini, caractérisé en ce qu'il comprend un étage approprié pour recevoir, dudit circuit, un signal relatif à un paramètre fonctionnel de la télévision ; un étage approprié pour interpréter le signal reçu selon le protocole et, en fonction de cela, décider une variation d'état de la télévision ; un étage approprié pour envoyer un signal de commande selon le protocole audit récepteur afin d'amener le récepteur à agir pour obtenir la variation d'état.
