Abstract

L'invention concerne la protéine Sbi de Staphylococcus aureus et, en particulier, l'interaction entre Sbi et la protéine C3d du complément. La structure cristalline du complexe Sbi-C3d révèle une interaction inattendue entre Sbi et la surface convexe de C3d, ce qui suggère que des fragments et variants particuliers de Sbi peuvent avoir une utilité en tant qu'inhibiteurs de la voie alterne du complément. L'invention concerne de nouveaux peptides et leurs utilisations dans l'inhibition d'états inflammatoires caractérisés par une activation indésirable de la voie du complément.
