Definitions
- the present invention relates to a broadband wireless access system, and more particularly, to a method for preventing unnecessary operation of a terminal in a multi-carrier environment and an apparatus for performing the same.
- the user may include information to be transmitted by modulating the amplitude, frequency and / or phase of the sine wave or the periodic pulse wave.
- a sine wave or pulse wave that serves to carry information is called a carrier.
- the carrier modulation method includes a single carrier modulation scheme (SCM) or a multi-carrier modulation scheme (MCM).
- SCM single carrier modulation scheme
- MCM multi-carrier modulation scheme
- the single carrier modulation method is a modulation method in which all information is loaded on one carrier and modulated.
- Multi-carrier modulation divides the entire bandwidth channel of one carrier into sub-channels having several small bandwidths, and multiple narrow-band sub-carriers through each sub-channel. Refers to a technique for transmitting in multiples.
- each subchannel can be approximated to a flat channel (Flat Channel) due to the small bandwidth.
- the user can compensate for the distortion of the channel using a simple equalizer.
- the multi-carrier modulation scheme may be implemented at high speed using fast Fourier transform (FFT). That is, it is advantageous for high speed data transmission compared to the single carrier modulation method (SCM).
- FFT fast Fourier transform
- embodiments of the present invention disclose a multi-carrier system that supports broadband by using one or more carriers in a carrier aggregation.
- the multi-carrier system described below represents a case in which one or more carriers are bundled and used, unlike the multi-carrier modulation scheme in which one carrier is divided and used.

- each frequency allocation band may be represented by a carrier frequency for using a baseband signal in each frequency band.
- each frequency allocation band is referred to as a "carrier frequency band” or each carrier frequency band when there is no confusion. Representative simply referred to as "carrier”.
- carrier as described in the recent 3GPP LTE-A (3GPP LTE-A) it can be referred to as a "component carrier" to distinguish the above-mentioned carrier from the subcarrier (subcarrier) used in the multi-carrier scheme. .
- multi-band scheme described above may be referred to as a “multi-carrier” scheme or a “carrier aggregation” scheme.

- IEEE 802.16e in the IEEE 802.16m system
- the first carrier refers to a carrier on which the traffic of the terminal and the base station, the exchange of complete physical layer and full PHY / MAC control information is performed.
- the main carrier can also be used for the general operation of the terminal, such as network entry. Each terminal has one main carrier in one cell.
- the second carrier (or secondary carrier) is an additional carrier that can be used for the exchange of traffic according to the base station specific allocation commands and laws usually received from the first carrier.
- the second carrier may include control signaling to support multicarrier operation. In general, all control information and information about the secondary carrier are received through the primary carrier, and data is transmitted and received through the secondary carrier.
- a carrier of a multi-carrier system based on the primary and secondary carriers described above may be divided into a fully configured carrier and a partially configured carrier as follows.
- the total set carrier refers to a carrier on which all control signaling including synchronization, broadcast, multicast, and unicast control channels is set.

- the secondary carrier which is an overall set carrier set in one terminal, may be allocated as a primary carrier of another terminal.
- the terminal performs initial network entry through the primary carrier, and information on the multi-carrier capabilities of each other in the registration process through the exchange of registration request / response (AAI_REG-REQ / RSP) messages with the base station. Can be exchanged.
- AAA_REG-REQ / RSP registration request / response
- handover refers to a terminal moving from the air interface of one base station to the air interface of another base station.

- the number or setting information of carriers may be different for each base station belonging to a network (i.e., Frequency Assignment, Bandwidth, etc.).
- configuration information may be different between carriers of the same base station, and thus, coverage between carriers may be different. Therefore, even if the UE scans carriers of a specific base station (eg, a serving base station) at the same location, scanning result values may be different for each carrier. That is, even if a plurality of carriers corresponding to the same base station are scanned at the same location, it is not desirable to apply a general trigger condition uniformly to all carriers if the settings among the carriers are different.
- the terminal may exchange MAC messages with the serving base station due to unnecessary scanning / handover trigger, which may cause power consumption or an error in an operation procedure.
- a terminal is in communication with a serving base station using three active carriers, and the channel state of one carrier deteriorates to satisfy a scanning trigger condition. .
- the UE unnecessarily transmits a scan report (AAI-SCN-REP) message to the base station despite the good channel condition of the remaining two activated carriers. That is, even though it is not necessary to perform the handover yet, the scan report message is transmitted due to a channel state problem for one carrier.
- CA mode carrier aggregation mode
- one terminal uses a plurality of carriers together
- the number of carriers supported by the neighboring base station and the number of carriers in which the terminal is activated in CA mode If the number is different, a trigger condition for transmitting a scan report message to the base station is problematic.

- the terminal transmits a scan report message to the serving base station while a plurality of carriers are allocated to the terminal and at least some of them are activated through the above-described process or similar process.
- the present embodiment proposes to inform the terminal to take a specific operation (transmission of AAI-SCN-REP message, etc.) when a trigger condition for several carriers is satisfied for each base station. That is, instead of performing a trigger action defined that only one carrier satisfies the trigger condition, it is proposed to perform the related trigger operation only when all N carriers determined for each base station satisfy the trigger condition. do.
- a trigger condition is referred to as an ABS specific trigger condition
- such a trigger is referred to as a base station specific multicarrier trigger.
- the terminal transmits a scan report message to the serving base station or triggers a handover when only one fast index is satisfied.
- the handover is triggered under such a condition, the channel state of carriers corresponding to carrier indexes 1 and 2, which are narrower in coverage than the carrier corresponding to carrier index 0 of the neighboring base station at the current terminal location, may be worse. Therefore, the UE may trigger a handover to the previous serving base station again, which wastes unnecessary radio resources and may cause a delay time.
- the trigger condition may be determined based on the number of active carriers of the terminal. That is, the base station does not explicitly inform the terminal of N carriers as a trigger condition, but may determine the trigger condition based on the current number of active carriers of the terminal.

- Table 1 shows an example of a form in which the carrier number information is included in the multicarrier announcement message when the base station-specific multicarrier trigger according to an embodiment of the present invention is applied.
- a field is configured to perform a trigger operation only when all channel conditions of two or three neighboring base station carriers satisfy a predetermined criterion through 1 bit information.
- the number of bits indicating the number of carriers N may be changed to 2 or more so that more carriers can be indicated.
- information on the number of carriers N may be included in a neighbor announcement (AAI-NBR-ADV) message as shown in Table 2 below.
- Table 2 shows an example of a form in which the carrier number information is included in the neighbor announcement message when the ABS-specific MC trigger is applied according to an embodiment of the present invention.
- Carrier_Number_N may be included as 2-bit information for each neighbor base station in a neighbor announcement message.
- the trigger function 0x7 is a trigger function newly proposed by the present invention, and means a trigger function applied in a multi-carrier environment, which will be described in detail later.
- the UE-specific multicarrier trigger (AMS-specific MC trigger) Can be applied. That is, if the carrier number information is not included in the AAI-NBR-ADV message or the AAI-MC-ADV message, the number of currently active carriers of the terminal may be a trigger condition.
- the number of carriers signaled (Carrier_Number_N) is not applied regardless of the number of active carriers of the current terminal, but the terminal uses the smaller of the two variables.
- the terminal uses the number of carriers 2 as a trigger condition corresponding to the trigger function 0x7. Therefore, in this case, the terminal transmits a scan report message to the base station when the channel state of two carriers of the neighboring base station is greater than or equal to a predetermined value.
- Table 3 shows an example of the trigger type, function and trigger action definition according to the present invention.
- Information such as Table 3 may be included in the Type / Function / Action field of the neighbor announcement message.
- the threshold is -32 dB (0x80) to +31.75 dB (0x7F).
- the threshold is interpreted as an unsigned byte in 0.25 dB: 0x00 as -103.75 dBm, 0xFF as -40 dBm, and type 0x3 as function 0x5 Only available with 0x6.
- Function 0x7 can be used for UE operating in carrier mode (CA mode) with action 0x1 and / or 0x2. UE not in carrier combining mode ignores this trigger.
- 0x7 is newly defined as the trigger function.
- the trigger function 0x7 is a trigger function that is applied only in a multicarrier environment.

- the UE may obtain information about the number of carriers for the trigger function 0x7 according to the BS-specific MC trigger through the neighbor announcement message or the multicarrier announcement message.
- the terminal scans the carriers of the neighbor base station using the obtained information (S403).
- the terminal may perform scanning by receiving a scanning interval by transmitting a scanning request message to the serving base station or perform scanning using a specific interval of the idle mode or the sleep mode.
- the terminal determines whether the condition of the trigger function 0x7 is satisfied according to the scanning result, that is, whether the number of carriers of the neighboring base station having a predetermined signal quality or more is N or more (S404).
