Le procédé pour réaliser un service de messages courts comprend l'étape suivante : lorsque la liaison d'un centre de messages courts principal est normale alors que le taux de réussite du service de messages courts est inférieur à un seuil fixé, un dispositif de commutation de centre de messages courts utilise un centre de messages courts en veille pour réaliser le service de messages courts. La présente invention détecte si des dysfonctionnements se produisent au niveau du centre de messages courts à travers la détection du taux de réussite des messages courts envoyés par le centre de messages courts, et fait basculer de manière efficace et en temps opportun le service d'envoi de messages courts sur le centre de messages courts en veille en cas de dysfonctionnement au niveau du centre de messages courts principal, si bien que le taux de réussite de l'envoi de messages courts est assuré, et la perte de messages courts due à un blocage ou à une paralysie du centre de messages courts est évitée.
