Abstract
The present invention discloses an Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) address allocation method and apparatus, relates to the technical field of communications, and can allocate the same IPv6 prefix for the different User Equipments (UEs) in the same network domain, to increase the available space of IPv6 addresses. The embodiment of the present invention includes: transmitting an address allocation request message to an address allocation processing device by a UE, wherein the request message includes an identifier of the network domain where the UE is located, then receiving an IPv6 prefix transmitted from the address allocation processing device, and generating a global IPv6 address according to the IPv6 prefix. The solution provided by the embodiments of the present invention is suitable for address allocation.
