This invention falls into the field of electronic advertising and is in relation to electronic cold luminescent, animated printed panels as well as their higher technology alternative digital panels (LCD / LED / OLED), which are both, as proposed in this invention, embedded in hand grips used in public transportation vehicles for the convenience of passengers traveling in a standing-up position.

Description

DESCRIPTION
ELECTRONIC ADVERTISEMENT SYSTEM ON PASSENGER HAND GRD?S
This invention is in relation to electronic cold luminescent (also called Electroluminescence and abbreviated as EL) animated printed panels as well as their more high-tech digital panel alternatives (LCD / LED / OLED), which are used for electronic advertisement and are embedded in hand grips in public transportation vehicles, which are there to help passengers ride standing up.
Inventions that offer innovations in the context of allowing informative messages to be viewed by large numbers of people have been the subject of patent and utility model applications. The following inventions fall into the above category and are found in the Patent Institute's database: "Advertisement Hanging Ring for Vehicle" dated 19 May 1994 and number JP6127380.
"Advertising Medium for the Strap of Hand Grip" dated 08 April 1997 and number JP9097028.
In the inventions covered by the two patents listed above, the purpose is to turn the advertisement area into a part that is easily mounted and removed, entirely with mechanical methods and to improve their durability.
"Advertisement on Bus Handle" dated 12 January 2005 and number CN2670166 (Y). "Combined Passenger Hand-hold and Advertising Panel for Mass Transit Vehicle Has a Plastic with a Strap Suspension Aperture" dated 23 February 2006 and application number of DE202005017216 (U1 ).
"Bus Handle with Advertisement and System" dated 26 November 2008 and number CN2001564011 (Y). With this invention, the advertisement area has been surrounded with an EL cable illumination system, which gets its power from the battery of the vehicle and is controlled by the driver of the bus via an on/off switch. This is the only invention that applies electronic illumination and control to hand grips with advertisement areas. Unlike the above-listed applications, our invention (Electronic Advertisement System on Passenger Hand Grips) is the first time that an invention uses EL print technique for illumination as well as animation of the advertisement. This invention also offers the option of using a digital panel (LCD / LED / OLED) in place of the EL thus turning the hand grip into a medium that can broadcast advertisements, announcements, and news either online or offline.
"Electronic Advertisement System on Passenger Hand Grips" is presented below in detail with the help of associated figures:
Figure 1 - is the partial front cross-section of the design with EL or digital panel.
Figure 2 - is the diagram of the communication flow in the design that uses a digital panel for the electronic advertisement area.
Below is a list of what the numbered parts are in the figures:
1 ) Hand grip ;
2.1) Advertisement area (EL printed panel)
2.2) Advertisement area (Digital panel)
3) Hand grip mounting element
4) Carrier pipe
5.1 ) Central server
5.2) Vehicle unit
5.3) Portable computer
5.4) Wireless communications with the server
(3G / GPRS / WiFi / WiMax / BlueTooth / Zigbee)
5.5) In-vehicle wireless communications
(3G / GPRS / WiFi / WiMax / BlueTooth / Zigbee)
5.6) In-vehicle cable communications (TCP-IP / Serial Parallel)
5.7) MemoryStick / SDCard / CD / DVD / HD portable memory
This invention offers the following features. a) In the design that uses the EL printed panels:
• An advertisement medium is provided on at least one face of the advertisement area (2.1 ) with an easily replaceable EL cold luminescence animated printed panel.
• Option 1 : In the "Stand-alone system", electronic circuit and controls are embedded into the Hand grip (1) hence allowing the advertisements on the hand grips to be independent from each other.
• Option 2: In the "Server-based system", electronic circuit and controls are managed by a single server within Vehicle unit (5.2).
• The electric power needed for the electronic circuit, controls, and EL printed panel (2.1 ) is supplied by a rechargeable battery and energy collector (solar / kinetic / piezzoelectric- kinetic / electromagnetic) in the Hand grip (1 ).
• Electric power is wirelessly transmitted to each Hand grip's (1 ) mounting element from the battery of the vehicle (or from the dedicated battery of the advertisement system) via electromagnetic induction at the points moving and / or fixed Hand grips (1 ) connect to the pipe on which they are lined up.
• As an alternative to the above method, electric power is transmitted to each Hand grip's (1 ) mounting element from the battery of the vehicle (or from the dedicated battery of the advertisement system) via conductive slides or cables at the points moving and / or fixed Hand grips (1 ) connect to the pipe on which they are lined up.
· The above methods can be used in various combinations to transmit electric power.
• Light intensity of the Advertisement area (2.1 ) can be automatically adjusted by measuring ambient light intensity with a sensor.
• The EL-lit and animated printed panel is suitable for three-dimensional designs of the Advertisement area (2.1 ) due to its flexible structure.
Note that Hand grip mounting element (3), is the part connecting the Hand grips (1) to the Carrier pipe (4), which in turn spans along the sections of the vehicle that accommodate the passengers standing on their feet. b) The design that has a digital panel for the advertisement area:
• There is a digital panel at least on one of the faces of the Advertisement area (2.2). • It is possible to use 3 G / GPRS / WiFi / WiMax / Bluetooth / Zigbee wireless communication protocols for each Advertisement area's (2.2) content management and control in a standalone fashion or from a Central server (5.1 ), which can possibly be located in a datacenter.
• Option 1 : With the "stand-alone" system, the data transfer can be carried out by allowing the Hand grips (1 ) to directly communicate with the Central server (5.1 ) using a wireless technology (3G / GPRS / WiFi / WiMax / Bluetooth / Zigbee) (5.4) (over hops at bus stops or not) or by connecting to a portable computer (5.3) to the Hand grip (1) (over a wired or wireless connection) or by connecting to an SDCard / MemoryStick / CDROM / Hard Disk (HD) (5.7).
· Option 2: With the "central" system, Hand grips (1 ) can transfer their data through the
Vehicle unit (5.2) by establishing a wired or wireless connection with it or can transfer data from a Portable computer (5.3) (over a wired or wireless connection) or from an SDCard / MemoryStick / CDROM / Hard Disk (HD) (5.7). On the other hand, Vehicle unit (5.2) maintains a direct wireless communication link with the Central server (5.1 ) using 3G / GPRS / WiFi / WiMax / BlueTooth / Zigbee (5.4).
• The in-vehicle wireless communications is carried out with one of 3G / GPRS / WiFi / WiMax / BlueTooth / Zigbee protocols (5.5). Alternatively, wired communication (using TCP IP / Serial / Parallel interface protocols) can be used for in-vehicle communications.
• Electric power is supplied to a Hand grip (1 ) by a rechargeable battery found in it and an energy collector (solar / kinetic / piezzoelectric-kinetic / wireless electro-magnetic).
• Electric power is wirelessly transmitted to each Hand grip's (1) mounting element from the battery of the vehicle (or from a dedicated battery for the advertisement system) via electromagnetic induction at the points moving and / or fixed Hand grips (1 ) connect to the pipe on which they are lined up.
· As an alternative to the above method, electric power is transmitted to each Hand grip's (1 ) mounting element from the battery of the vehicle (or from a dedicated battery for the advertisement system) via conductive slides or cables at the points moving and / or fixed Hand grips (1 ) connect to the pipe on which they are lined up.
• The above methods can be used in various combinations to transmit electric power.
· Light intensity of the Advertisement area (2.1) can be automatically adjusted by measuring ambient light intensity with a sensor.
