Description
Condensation laundry dryer
The present invention refers to a household condensation laundry dryer comprising a rotational drum for receiving laundry to be dried, a hot air generator, said air circulating inside said drum, and a steam generator in order to deliver the steam into said drum, and in particular the invention refers to a water-supply system for said steam generator. The above identified condensation laundry dryers are generally known, however all of them are designed with a relatively complex arrangement of condensate distribution pipes which renders the production of said dryer rather difficult.
It is the object of the present invention to create a condensate laundry dryer which will remedy the drawbacks of the known solutions.
According to the present invention, the object as set above is solved by a water tank for storing fluid to be used, that is condensate and distilled water, respectively, being arranged in the area above a drum for receiving laundry to be dried and softened, respectively. Said condensate being delivered by means of pumping means via a pipeline from a condensate receiver into said water tank. Said water tank further comprises on the side thereof averted from said drum an intake opening, through which said condensate is fed via a first condensate supply line. Furthermore, said water tank is formed with a vertical aperture into which extends a second condensate supply line, and through which said condensate overflows into a channel formed under said water tank.
The above disclosed connection of the condensate supply line and the water tank is formed in a manner that a major portion of the condensate flowing in via said line flows into said water tank, whereas a minor portion of the condensate, bypassing said water tank, flows through said aperture and into said channel under said water tank and via said supply line into a water container.
The present invention will become more readily understood in the light of the ensuing description of preferred embodiment thereof, given by way of example only, with reference to the accompanying drawings wherein
Fig. 1 illustrates a schematic view of a condensation laundry dryer according to the invention;
Fig. 2 illustrates a schematic three-dimensional view of a water tank;
Fig. 3 illustrates a cross-sectional view through a plane III of a water tank of Fig. 2.
A condensation laundry dryer according to the present invention comprises a body 1 in which is rotationally arranged a drum 2 for receiving the laundry to be dried. In the area under said drum 2 there is arranged a condenser 3 under which is located a first blower 4 which pushes a cooling air flow Ti through said condenser 3 and cools down a hot and wet air flow T2 taken off the laundry to be dried and streaming from the drum 2. A channel 5 extends from said condenser 3, via said channel 5 is conveyed said condensate taken off said flow T2, said condensate further flows via a condensate pipeline 6 into a condensate receiver 7. A pumping means 8 is provided in said condensate receiver 7 which, via a pipeline 9, forces said condensate into said water tank 10 arranged in the area above said drum 2. Said pumping means 8 is controlled, in a manner known per se, by means of an electronic control unit of the condensation laundry dryer according to the present invention.
Attached to said channel 5 is arranged a second blower 11 pushing an air flow T3 streaming from said condenser 3 into a channel 12 and through a heater 13 into said drum 2. Said blowers 4, 11 are preferably arranged on the same shaft and are driven simultaneously by means of a single driving means 14. Furthermore, in the area under said drum 2 there is arranged a steam generator 15 which is fed with water, preferably distilled water, by means of a pump 16 pumping said water from a water container 17 arranged in the same level and in the vicinity of the condensate receiver 7. Said water container 17 is fed via a supply pipeline 18 from said water tank 10 above the drum 2. A sensor 19 is arranged in the water container 17 which, in the case of the low water level in said container 17, transmits an appropriate signal to the display on the control panel of the condensation laundry dryer, thus, warning the user about the low water level. In such an event, the user must add the water, preferably distilled water, into the water tank 10 arranged above the drum 2 where from the water overflows via said pipeline 18 into said container 17. When said container 17 is fully filled the excessive amount of the water flows into said receiver 7 via an overflow 20.
Depending on the operating mode of the condensation laundry dryer, said air flow T3 is either dry or wet. If the condensation laundry dryer is used for drying the laundry placed
inside the drum 2, then said air flow T3 is in essence entirely dry and it is additionally heated by means of said heater 13 in the channel 12. If, however, said condensation laundry dryer is used for softening and refreshing the laundry, respectively, then said air flow T3 is wet, whereby it is moisturised by means of the steam generated by the steam generator 15. The steam generated in said manner enters via an extension 21 said channel 5 and afterwards, the blower 11 forces said wet air flow T3 via the channel 12 into the drum 2. In the latter case, said heater 13 remains inactive.
Said water tank 10 arranged above said drum 2, in which the condensate and distilled water, respectively, is stored, is formed as an entirely closed tank being formed on the upper side, which is averted from the drum 2, with an intake opening 22 for supplying the condensate, a first condensate supply line 23 from the pipeline 9 cooperates therewith, said condensate being delivered from said condensate receiver 7 via said pipeline 9 by means of pumping means 8. In essence, said first condensate supply line 23 represents a first branch from said pipeline 9, a major portion of said condensate flowing in via said pipeline 9 flows via said first branch into said water tank 10. It is provided for, according to the present invention, that said major portion of said condensate represents about 2/3 of the entire condensate amount delivered by means of pumping means 8 via said pipeline 9. Furthermore, it is provided for, according to the present invention, that said water tank 10 is formed with a funnel-like aperture 24 being preferably oriented in the vertical direction. The entrance into said aperture 24 on the upper side of the water tank 10, said upper side being averted from the drum 2, cooperates with a second condensate supply line 25 from the pipeline 9, condensate being fed by means of said pumping means 8 from said condensate receiver 7. Said second condensate supply line 25 represents in essence a second branch from said pipeline 9, a minor portion of said condensate flowing in via said pipeline 9 flows via said second branch and via said aperture 24 through said water tank 10. It is provided for, according to the present invention, that said minor portion of said condensate represents about 1/3 of the entire condensate amount delivered by means of pumping means 8 via said pipeline 9.
Said minor portion of the condensate flowing in via said second supply line 25 flows via said aperture 24 through said water tank 10 and flows on the bottom side thereof which faces the drum 2, and at the exit from said aperture 24 into the channel 26. The latter is hydraulically connected with the supply pipeline 18 via which said container 17 being fed with distilled water and condensate, respectively.
