Description

Condensing clothes dryer
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a condensing type clothes dryer including a steam generator, and more particularly, to automatic filling of a water tank of a steam generator.
Background
In order to operate the steam generator of the condensing type dryer, distilled water is generally used. Since it is possible to utilize to this extent a distilled water condensate which is produced in the course of the drying process by condensation of water vapour in the heat exchanger and the condenser, respectively. Water flows into the steam generator water tank via a condensate piping in the dryer while filling the condensate tank. Since the condensate tank must be periodically drained, the user can direct the piping system into the drain, thereby leaving the steam generator tank unfilled.
Automatic filling of existing steam generator water tanks relies on the connection of condensate lines. For some drying appliances that include an in-line steam generator, the steam generator water tank is filled directly from the condensate tank. This solution comprises a system that enables a further overflow from the condensate tank into the steam generator water tank. Since it is time consuming for a user to drain the condensate tank each time, some dryers have limited possibilities to connect the condensate pipe directly into the drain. If the condensate drain is directly connected to the drain, then distilled water needs to be manually added to the condensate tank separately and directly into the housing of the condensate tank.
In addition, the conventional drying apparatus includes a steam generator, which must be connected to a water supply pipe to be operated. The disadvantage of such a system is the additional water consumption and the need for additional water pipes.
Further, from patent publication No. SI 23343A, there is known a drying apparatus including a steam generator, which is provided with a system for discharging a condensate filling into a condensate tank and also filling a steam generator water tank through a housing of the condensate tank. However, when the condensation duct of the device is directly connected into the drain, the water inlet of the steam generator tank is disabled. In this case, it is necessary to pour distilled water directly into the shell of the condensate tank.
Disclosure of Invention
The object of the present invention is to provide a condensing type laundry dryer in which the steam generator tank is automatically filled with water, making up for the drawbacks of the prior art.
The above object is solved according to the features set forth in the claims.
Drawings
The invention is described in further detail by way of non-limiting examples and with reference to the accompanying drawings.
Fig. 1 shows a schematic view of a condensing type dryer according to the present invention.
Detailed Description
During the drying process, the moist air heated in the condensation drying apparatus 1 is cooled at the condenser 2. The condensate flows out of the condenser 2 via the channel 3 and the conduit 4 into the housing 5 of the pump 6, which pump 6 in turn pumps the condensate via the line 7 to the condensate tank 8. The housing 5 of the pump 6 is arranged in an area below the condenser 2, whereas the condensate tank 8 is arranged in an area above the drum 9 of the drying apparatus 1.
Said condensate tank 8 is arranged in a container 10, said container 10 being fluidly connected via a discharge line 11 to a container 12' for containing water for a steam generator 12, the steam generator 12 being typically arranged in a lower region of the drying apparatus 1, which lower region is located below the condenser 2. In the vicinity of the condensate tank 8, a branching element 13 is connected to said line 7 for conveying condensate from the pump 6 to the condensate tank 8, said branching element 13 dividing said line 7 into two separate lines, a first line 14 with a smaller flow and a second line 15 with a larger flow. The division is realized by the following modes: the branching element 13 is selected as a reducer tee (T-shaped element) which is connected to the first line 14, for example via a first smaller bore, and to the second line 15 via a second larger bore. In this way it is achieved that the flow of condensed liquid through the smaller first holes and through the first line 14, respectively, is smaller than the flow of condensed liquid through the larger second holes and through the second line 15, respectively.
Furthermore, according to the invention, it is provided that said smaller first line 14 is continuously in fluid connection with the receiver 10 of the condensate tank 8, while the larger second line 15 is in direct fluid connection with the condensate tank 8 only in selected cases via a pipe connection 16. That is, it is decided by a user of the drying apparatus 1 whether the second line 15 is in fluid connection with the condensate tank 8 or, for example, with an external condensate tank (not shown) which does not constitute the drying apparatus 1. In order to enable a user to switch the second line 15 between a position in which the second line 15 is connected to the condensate tank 8 and a position in which the second line 15 is disconnected from the condensate tank 8, it is preferable that the second line 15 is exposed to an outer area of the condensation dryer so that the user can access at least an area of the duct joint 16. It can therefore be considered that both the line 7 for conveying condensate from the pump 6 to the tank 8 and the second line 15 extend in the region of the rear wall 17 of the drying apparatus 1.
According to the present invention, the following is achieved in the above manner: the injected water and condensate respectively flow into the water reservoir 12' of the steam generator 12 and this flow does not depend on the way and the location in which the second line 15 is connected to the condensate tank 8 or an alternative condensate tank. As a result, the water container 12' and the steam generator 12 are continuously filled. When the water container 12' of the steam generator 12 is filled, excess water overflows into the housing 5 of the pump 6. As the condensate level is higher, the float 18 rises with it, when the float 18 reaches a certain level, the drying device is switched off via the switch and the user is alerted to empty the condensate tank 8.
For operation, the steam generator 12 uses condensate collected in a water reservoir 12' of the steam generator 12. If said container 12' of the steam generator 12 is out of water, the water level sensor 19 indicates a low water level condition. The user fills the water-full container 12' to pull the condensate tank 8 out of the drying apparatus 1 and pours distilled water from the tank 8 into said receptacle 10 of the tank 8.
