Description

CONDENSATION LAUNDRY DRYER
[0001] The present invention refers to a condensation laundry dryer comprising a steam generator, and in particular to an automatic filling of the steam generator tank with water.
[0002] For the steam generator of the condensation laundry dryer to operate, distilled water is usually utilised. As distilled water condensate can be utilized to this extent, which originates during drying process in heat exchanger and condenser, respectively, where water steam condensates. Water flows in the steam generator tank via a condensate pipe system in the laundry dryer, wherein the condensate tank is filled simultaneously. Since the condensate tank has to be emptied on a regular basis, a user can direct the pipe system directly into a drain resulting in the steam generator tank no to be filled.
[0003] Known embodiments of the automatic filling the steam generator tank depend on the attachment of the condensate pipe. With some drying apparatuses comprising an embedded steam generator the tank thereof is filled directly from the condensate tank. Such a solution comprises a system which enables overflow from the condensate tank further into the steam generator tank. Since each emptying of the condensate tank by the user is rather a time- consuming operation, some dryers offer limited possibilities of attaching the condensate pipe directly into the drain. In case the condensate drain pipe is attached directly into the drain, manual adding of distilled water into the condensate tank and, respectively, directly into the housing of the condensate tank is required.
[0004] Furthermore, a drying apparatus is known comprising a steam generator, that must be attached to a water supply pipeline in order to operate. A drawback of such a system is additional water consumption and a need for additional water conduit.
[0005] Yet further, a drying apparatus comprising a steam generator is known from the publication of the patent No. SI 23343 A formed in a manner that a system for draining the condensate fills the condensate tank, and simultaneously through a housing of the condensate tank also the steam generator tank. However, when the condensate pipe with said apparatus is attached directly into the drain, the water inlet into the steam generator tank is disabled. In such a case it is necessary to directly pour distilled water into the housing of the condensate tank. [0006] It is the object of the present invention to create a condensation laundry dryer where a steam generator tank is automatically filled with water, which remedies drawbacks of know solutions.
[0007] According to the present invention, the object as set above is solved by features set forth in the characterising part of claim 1. Detail of the invention is further disclosed in respective subclaims.
[0008] The invention is further described in detail by way of non-limiting embodiment, and with a reference to the accompanying drawing, showing a schematic view of a condensation laundry dryer according to the invention.
[0009] Moist air that is warmed up in a condensation drying apparatus 1 during drying process is cooled down in a condenser 2. The condensate flows out of said condenser 2 via a channel 3 and via a pipe 4 into a housing 5 of a pump 6, which in turn pumps condensate via a line 7 to a condensate tank 8. Said housing 5 with the pump 6 is arranged in the region under said condenser 2, whereas said condensate tank 8 is arranged in the region above a drum 9 of the drying apparatus 1.
[0010] Said condensate tank 8 is arranged in a receptacle 10 being fluidly connected via a draining line 11 with a container 12' for the water for a steam generator 12, which is normally arranged in the lower region of the drying apparatus 1 under said condenser 2. In the close vicinity of said condensate tank 8 a branching element 13 is connected to said line 7 for transporting the condensate from the pump 6 to the condensate tank 8, said branching element 13 divides said line 7 into two separate lines, that is a first line 14 having a lower flow capacity, and a second line 15 having a larger flow capacity. Said division is achieved in a manner that said branching element 13 is selected as a reducing tee (T element), for example, which is connected via a first, smaller outlet aperture with said first line 14, and which is connected via a second, larger aperture with said second line 15. It is achieved in this manner that the condensate flow through the first, smaller aperture and, respectively, through the first line 14 is smaller than the condensate flow through the second, larger aperture and, respectively, through the second line 15.
[0011] Further, it is provided according to the present invention that said first, smaller line 14 is constantly fluidly connected with the receptacle 10 for the condensate tank 8, whereas the second, larger line 15 is via a pipe connection 16 only optionally directly fluidly connected with the condensate tank 8. Namely, it is a user of the drying apparatus 1 who decides whether the second line 15 is fluidly connected with the condensate tank 8, or is, for instance, fluidly connected to an external condensate sink, not shown, which does not constitute the drying apparatus 1. In order to enable the user to switch said second line 15 between the position in which the second line 15 is connected with the condensate tank 8, and the position in which the second line 15 is disengaged from the condensate tank 8, the second line 15 is exposed and, respectively, accessible the user at least in the region of said pipe connection 16, preferably in the outer region of the condensation dryer. Herewith, it is deemed for both the line 7 for transproting condensate from the pump 6 to the tank 8 and the second line 15 to extend in the back wall 17 region of the drying apparatus 1.
[0012] According to the invention, it is achieved in the above described manner that the inflow of the water and, respectively, the condensate into the water container 12' of the steam generator 12 does not depend on how and, respectively, where the line 15 for condensate transportation is attached to, that is either to the condensate tank 8 or to the alternative condensate sink. As a result, the water container 12' as well as the steam generator 12 is constantly filled. When the container 12' of the steam generator 12 is full, the excessive water overflows into the housing 5 of the pump 6. Due to the higher condensate level, a float 18 rises consequently, and when it reaches a certain level the drying apparatus is turned off via a switch and the user is alerted about emptying the condensate tank 8.
[0013] In order to operate, the steam generator 12 uses a condensate collecting in the water container 12' of the steam generator 12. If said container 12' of the steam generator 12 lacks water, a water level sensor 19 indicates a low level condition. The user fills up the water container 12' in a manner to pull the condensate tank 8 out of the drying apparatus 1 and pours distilled water from the tank 8 into said receptacle 10 for the tank 8.
